Awesome info, just got my first 1/8 truggy. Its a mbx-7tr eco and all your videos are real helpful. Not really much out there at all please keep it up!
Another knowledgeable! Video mr nitro ambassador! Lol! Keep them coming! And again, i thank you and Rhonda for giving me time and interview! And congrats on you and team mugen on the sweep! Full team effort! makes me proud to own a mugen! Take care and hope to see you soon!💨🏁⛽👍🏁
the other part of the setup is how you tweaked the MIP bypass pistons during the event, I was struggling to get a sweet spot with them and now you've run them for quite a long time any tips would be great. thanks
Don't understand why binding is beneficial. Is this to prevent the shaft from shifting around? I would think the suspension keeps the car stable and upright, not the driveshafts. Where can I read about this?
Hey, again love the videos. I was hoping you could answer a question regarding engines. Do the nitro engines we use in RC have the same general characteristics full size engines do in regards to their bore vs stroke? So would an over square motor generally rev higher and make more top end power while an under square makes more low torque? Is there a benefit to a square engine? Thanks again.
Building a new kit and discovering the new features of the latest kit from your favourite manufacturer is great. However I've seen guys at my track blame their rig for not doing well in races instead of their driving or lack of practice and finding the right setup. I drive a vintage o'donnell z01 b sg and always come in top 5 out of 20 to 30 racers. A well setup old rig with lots of hours behind the wheel is the key not just buying the latest and greatest every two years... That's core of new kit blues more then not breaking in your buggy/truggy or reassembling it right...just my experience.
So the first outdrives you showed where Normal and acceptable wear is is that when u change them obviously the second picture those are trash parts just curious about the the first example thanks
Hey Adam awesome clips, been watching you guys for years !!👍🤟🤘🤙💯 Just quick question km changing over to Nitro after years of EP cars ... What car/s would you recommend to start racing again Losi do a RTR not crazy cost, or we have a brand called JQ black edition 1/8. Any info would be greatly appreciated 💯🤙🤙🤙🤙
As I listen to your presentation I recall thinking that my skills were improving as time went on not realizing the car’s engineers should be getting the credit.
Depends on alot of things. But typically 3-4 runs (6-10mins each) for Ebuggy/truggy. 3-5 tanks for a nitro buggy/truggy. These are just guidelines. Your manufacturer should have a better idea.
Every time I apply what I've learned from these videos, I see the improvements and understand the failures on the track. SUCH AN AMAZING RESOURCE!
Appreciate it!
@@AdamDrakehow many ‘working’ kits does one normally own if he/she is racing frequently? Just curious whether having a standby car is necessary
thank you for always posting all these videos we really appreciate it!
My pleasure!
Always great info from a living legend!!!
I appreciate that!
Great info keep it coming so us newbies can maintain our kits and help others!
You bet!
Adam you guys just got back from putting on a clinic at dnc. You got to take a break! Working to hard! Lol. Good video 👍
Thank you Enzo!
I am definitely going to start doing this im glad I watched this I had no clue you wanted a little wear in the outdrive Thank You!
Glad I could help!

Hello Mr. Drake. I was just wondering about the next release of this popular buggy. Do you know any dates?
Well the buggy currently out pretty much swept DNC, not sure what a new one would do. If it isn't broke...
We're also looking to improve, but nothing is set in stone at the moment.
@@AdamDrake Thanks, i value the insights and guidance you provide 👍
Excellent information Adam. Great job.
Glad it was helpful!
direct from DNC! any chance of doing a video for the setup and changes you made during the event?
Yes, I'll have setups available soon.
@@AdamDrake thanks Adam, are yours and Ryan's very different or do you start/end with a similar setup
the other part of the setup is how you tweaked the MIP bypass pistons during the event, I was struggling to get a sweet spot with them and now you've run them for quite a long time any tips would be great. thanks
I really enjoy these videos! you should do a patron account I would support it!
Appreciate it! I'll look into that.
Don't understand why binding is beneficial. Is this to prevent the shaft from shifting around? I would think the suspension keeps the car stable and upright, not the driveshafts. Where can I read about this?
It just depends on how you tune you're car and the feeling you like.
Adam, can you do a video on ceramic bearings, and if you use them, please?
I'll add it to the video list.

Yes, they do have similar characteristics to full size 2 stroke engines. As for what's best, it depends on the application and the desired power band.
@@AdamDrake thanks a lot!! Greatly appreciated!!

Great points.

It depends on the feeling you like. Again, some wear is good, but if they start to get cupped it's time to replace them.
Hi Mr Adam. Are there any news you and mugen developing a new mbx9? Just asking if there are any updates about the buggy.
We're always looking to improve, but nothing is set in stone at the moment.
LOL, the Drake Outdrive break in service. Have you tried Titanium outdrives yet?
LOL! :) No, haven't tried titanium outdrives.

Thank you! I would go with whichever brand is best supported in your area or easiest to get parts for.
As I listen to your presentation I recall thinking that my skills were improving as time went on not realizing the car’s engineers should be getting the credit.
I'm sure it's a bit of both. The car breaking-in and you adapting to the new car.
1) I think you should go to nitro challenge in St. Louis this year! People’s minds would explode! 😊
2) I think you should make make a podcast!!
Great ideas! I like it, thank you.
nice good job 👍
Thanks 👍
Wow I never knew this. I've learned a ton from Adam's vids
Thank you!
It is possible invert positions to reuse when they(outdrives) are bitted by the pins?
I guess it would be possible.
Good info Adam.👍🇮🇪
Thanks 👍
Hahaha my new car feels like a dog dragging it's ass on the carpet!
:)
Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
No problem 👍
Would you choose a TLR 4.0 mugen mbx7r buggy?
Mugen baby!!
Lol, When your car looks like a dog dragging its butt because your rear drive isn't broke in. Legend!
LOL!
If you are starting from new components or kit. What would be the allotted break in time in your opinion?
Depends on alot of things. But typically 3-4 runs (6-10mins each) for Ebuggy/truggy. 3-5 tanks for a nitro buggy/truggy. These are just guidelines. Your manufacturer should have a better idea.
i believe mugen setup guide says about an hour of run time
@@justinstein7921 Now that I think about it the Tekno maual says the same thing.
Depends on what you like and the setup, but usually 45-60 minutes of running.
What about the old car blues? Lol it's a tough feeling too!
Great idea, I'll add it to the video list.
Hey wait, wheres the body!?
Haha
In 1/10 some of the fast guys even run their rear dogbone's CV dry for more bind and only oil the front joint.
Yes, the same sometimes in 1/8th.
👍👍👍
Thanks!
no issues with the NEW TLR8XTE
Some cars feel best when new, but most need to go through a short break-in process.
I have never heard of ‘new kit blues’
:)
Does he ever smile?
Yes. :)
bro... iv been reading about you in Rc Magazines for years... and brain kinwall ?. the little guy.. u know who im talking about
