High Nitrogen Application in the HEAT! Scotts Step 3 for the Green

- People have some sort of hate for the Scotts Step 4 program and I don't know why. It is perfect for the individual that doesn't want to spend a lot of time trying to figure things out and just wants to have a better lawn than the next. Also you don't get all the clutter that comes with being a grass nerd from all the weed killers, liquids, hose ends, open bags of granular and more. My back lawn has been deprived of any fertilizer this season. No nitrogen, no nothing. It is where the kids play so I just let them do their thing back there and let nature do its thing. So I thought this was a prime opportunity to throw this phosphorus free 32-0-4 with 2% iron Scotts Step 3 down on my back yard and man did it green it up. To be honest, something was weird with my camera when showing the after and its a little blurry but you can definitely see the green up! We give er a little stripe at the end as well! One more step to go in the series from Great Lakes Ace and that is step four at the end of the season. Make sure to hit that SUBSCRIBE button and turn on the notifications for the next step!

Nice. I worry I have not put enough fertilizer down this year. I have been doing mostly spoon feeding every 2 to 3 weeks and applied Humic max in April and end of may. Lawn looks good now but maybe not as dark as it should. Thanks for posting. Ps love that lake location. Would love to move there someday. Cheers

I had a good response because my back yard has literally not had any nitrogen or iron. last season I had issues because I think I put down to much N so I have just been putting down simple lawn solution micros and some trial supplements

Having 20k SQFT I always have to use the whole bag, or two :) . Makes it easy? I'm asking myself that question. My yard is WAY TO BIG to be doing this :) . Thank goodness for Scott's! I need to make an edgeguard for my larger Agrifab spreader!
HI! Quick question: Do you recommend placing down nitogen one day and weed killer the next? I have some rain coming the next few days thought I would take advantage. I also haven't laid down any grass products yet.
Lawn newbies do t ever put Fertilizer in the spreader w spreader in the lawn .. Just in case you spill it as if spilled or the spreader tips over you won’t have a big ol burn spot . 🤣 good practice to just be on concrete or black top when adding fertilizer to spreader.. 1 more thing any product w iron in as the one that TNDd used be sure to blow or sweep off any feet that may have gotten on your concrete or blacktop surface as this will leave white stain dots on the Sri face if left .. Don’t over think it follow the directions and enjoy ..
What would you recommend. I followed the directions but I had so much left after the passes. This was for step 2.
I mean on the bag it says can't or won't burn your lawn. I'll try it. Last year was good thus year not so much using same exact steps and same times every 6 weeks. Idfk anymore

I will ask ace about it. I can say that I like the prill size of step 3, I like the iron in it, and I've gotten good results from it. But NPK is NPK so I think it comes down to personal preference. I have not used the other two.
Scott's actually has great prill size for good coverage. Looks a lot better. How is the little man doing ?
he is doing good! he is a healthy Weight now still had tummy issues though. trying to find the right formula

should i wait to start step 1 or can i start now? Thinking of doing this. Moved into a new home and has a lot of weeds, bare spots! In the Midwest and temperatures are rising!
Step one is over and according to great lakes ace by my house they put the product down by using the term EMIL. EASTER, MEMORIAL DAY, INDEPENDENCE DAY, LABOR DAY. I am not sure how hot it is now by you but I'm always leary if putting down high nitrogen products in high heat. Im going through a drought right now up north and wouldn't do it. Maybe watch the weather weather and if you have a cooler forecast for a few days put it on early morning and let it sit on the weeds before the heat comes then water it in. I'm just afraid of burning your good turf. I would check the label to be accurate
Do you think I can apply Scotts Max Green (27-0-2) to a Cool Season Lawn with full irrigation when temps are 80-90 degrees out? I did apply Ironite on (6/30) but honestly the granules are so large that I don't believe the spread was even. Thanks!
For sure. I just did a 32-0-4 with 2%iron. That max has 5% I bet you will get a super green up. I love that stuff! DO IT!
