I just got a job as a PCT/CNA in the Kingwood medical center in HTX and I’m REALLY looking forward to this transition. I came from being a PCT in a dialysis setting and this should be way more laid back than dialysis. I gave Dialysis a try and stayed for a full year and I hated every minute of it mainly because when they hired me as a PCT I got to the job and they doing totally different stuff than what I learned in Tech school and had the audacity to pay $12 😭 I just pray that I finally find something in healthcare that I can stick with. Dialysis just ain’t it
I feel yooou! I got Hired at Davita Dialysis and got paid $12.50 and couldn’t even make it out of training. Nope! I refused to be mentally drained everyday. It was awful! I just got hired as a med tech in a nursing home. Overnight 10pm-6am and I am very nervous. I will say. I have no experience! 😭🙄😩
@@lifewithmonicaaa6040 i didn’t have experience either, but after you work with your preceptor you see what needs to be done & once you get on your own . Then you come up with your own routine.
@@lifewithmonicaaa6040 most people don’t make it out of training and if they do they don’t stay! It’s mentally draining. Burnout was REAL. Like I dreaded going to work everyday especially to only be making $700 checks ! . I hope you like the new job you’re at!

I just started working at a hospital a couple months ago. I work on the surgical unit. At my hospital we do vitals, accuechecks, blood draws, and ADL’s. It’s so much work but I love it. I work night shift too. I used to work in home health and memory care before this job and I hated it lol. It took me a year to get a hospital job.
Im planning on taking CNA courses next year and tbh im not feeling taking that route. I want to start as an LPN but the way the programs start at NY it will take a long time to get in. I want to be a nurse but it sounds alot.
Am starting next week, I wanted to work in the hospital but unfortunately I failed to get the job so am starting in a care home ,but am going in with my head up nway

I was thinking of going for a CNA course but I hear a lot of horror stories of how patients get nasty. A friend of mine has a friend that is a CNA and a patient bit her and another patient through poop at her. I have heard worse things than that. So I want to get into the medical field but I don't know if I should pursue it. I don't want to deal with violence from patients. Any advice would be great ! I have a limited time to schedule for school for their next session.
I worked as an EVS tech, my job had a program for employees who already had their CNA certification and wanted to transition to work as a CNA within the organization.

That’s exactly what I’m doing, but I’m pursuing pre-PA. The program at my uni requires 1000+ hours of clinical experience and honestly the quickest ways to get that amount is getting either a CNA or EMT-B certification and working in those fields throughout the year. Those are your best bets, especially since it’s covid and no hospitals are allowing volunteers.
That’s exactly what I’m doing now. I just started training for PCA/CNA. I’m in undergrad majoring in pre-med. def not gone work in medical school tho 😅

Everyone experience is different, every facility is different. Not all your patients will be violent, if this is a passion then you should pursue it.

I mean i don’t really see how it would benefit you, unless your trying to get some patient care experience. It’s really up to you though.
I can be helpful gives you more patient contact hours but medical scribe is better option ,but I no many who were cna while being premed
