I just got a job as a PCT/CNA in the Kingwood medical center in HTX and I’m REALLY looking forward to this transition. I came from being a PCT in a dialysis setting and this should be way more laid back than dialysis. I gave Dialysis a try and stayed for a full year and I hated every minute of it mainly because when they hired me as a PCT I got to the job and they doing totally different stuff than what I learned in Tech school and had the audacity to pay $12 😭 I just pray that I finally find something in healthcare that I can stick with. A friend of mine has a friend that is a CNA and a patient bit her and another patient through poop at her. I have heard worse things than that. So I want to get into the medical field but I don't know if I should pursue it. I don't want to deal with violence from patients. Any advice would be great ! Would you recommend a student who will be a pre-med to get their CNA certification and work as a CNA in undergrad and before Medical School?

I mean i don’t really see how it would benefit you, unless your trying to get some patient care experience. It’s really up to you though.

That’s exactly what I’m doing, but I’m pursuing pre-PA. The program at my uni requires 1000+ hours of clinical experience and honestly the quickest ways to get that amount is getting either a CNA or EMT-B certification and working in those fields throughout the year. Those are your best bets, especially since it’s covid and no hospitals are allowing volunteers.
