Love the realism of your vids and the knowledge you convey, it’s a breath of fresh air on UA-cam!
I appreciate that!
Rufus was getting revenge for Maggie going at him. He was like welp deal with a bear.
Love these videos. You’re the most real survivalist
Well,at least you showed everyone (and yourself) that it's a lot harder than you think it is. Takes a lot of practice to develop "working skills" .
Success is measured by the effort that's being put into trials & errors. Failures is measured the minute you stop trying. A very intelligent and successful man said that once. Will be watching for the next one. Cheers Mr. Salyer from Australia.
I can’t wait to join your survival adventure in a couple weeks.
I did same thing with coffee for last few months. Human really needs only little bit of sugar and water on mornings to fully wake up now.
See ya on the next one
She's where's rufusing lol great trip guys
Good video, thanks for sharing YAH bless !
Good challenge! Primitive fire is tough when it’s that wet for sure! A couple tips, you need a very strong cord for the bow drill. One way I’ve done it successfully is to make three thin two ply cords then counter twist the three of them into one thicker cord. I was able to start about a dozen fires before the string broke I was using elm bark. Also certain woods will start fire by friction even when wet, some of the ones I’ve used are youpon holly and black willow, experiment to see what works in your area. It takes about 10 times more effort than when dry and you may have to burn all the way through the hearth board before you dry out the wood enough to get a coal. The Amazon Indians often use this with the hand drill technique lots of teamwork involved!
Thanks for the tips!!
Great video guys.
Thanks so much!
Great video
Thanks!

Reminiscing this and that and having such a good time
Oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally, golly, what a day
Chicory makes a good coffee substitute. I hate the caffeine withdrawal headaches so much. Chicory is readily available in Appalachian area.
I have tried it. It’s pretty good.
Jason, could you have put some of the pine rosin on the cordage to keep it from slipping on the spindle? Just a thought. 👍
Good idea!
U inspired me to buy pair of mandels like yours for wet use , my son is dying laughing about them lol, but ive watched ton of your videos where u use them , and oddly enough my middle name is rufus 😂
Ahahaha. Awesome!
Well it just goes to show you, the weather is Not gonna always be awesome.😮
You’re right about that. The goal is to learn how to adapt to all environment and weather
It makes you wonder how in the world the native Americans ever survived.
How did you have coffee with no fire?
You could have used Jason's shoe strings for cordage, or was that against the rules?
We were trying to use only natural materials found on the landscape. Good idea though.
@ONThree Yeah, I figured that was the case. Still done better than I would have done, lol.
Is that natural shelter waterproof?
Waterproof is a strong word. Water resistant is more like it.
