  • Unitronic now offers an upgraded dogbone mount and I jumped all over the opportunity to test and review their Street version. In this video we install the mount and then I give you all my very first driving impressions after spending 30 minutes on the road after the install. Stay tuned for when the Race/Track version of this mount is released by Unitronic because I'll be reviewing that version as well!

    I completely forgot to mention that if you do end up needing to drop your subframe you should take your car in for an alignment after. Completely slipped my mind!

      You should not if you use the 034Motorsport's Stainless Steel Subframe Locking Collars

      @@antoniskonis8448 I would never recommend people use 034 products so I wouldn't ever say such a thing 😉

    I installed the Unitronic Street Dogbone on my 19' RS3 with Stage 1+ ecu and 2 tcu with fbo for the stages. We tightened the bushing bolt to 15ft lbs rather than 10. I have a little NVH when the engine is cold but once warmed up, it's barely noticeable. I think it cleaned up the shifts a little under WOT in Dynamic Sport compared to stock. I am considering trying 18-20ft lbs on the bushing bolt to see if it sharpens up the shifts even more at the expense of a little more NVH.

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  2 роки тому +1

      It very well may. Most people care more about NVH than performance sadly so that's why Uni recommends such a low torque spec.

    Great job! Perfect video like always. I assume that is way uni sent you the freebie.
    I have 034 mounts. They helped my shifts greatly vs stock. I do believe I will be stepping up to the uni mounts tho. I just like the design. The stock rubber is so so soft. I understand why it's so soft but wow. The new uni unit just looks like the total package.

      You have the 034 dogbone mount with the inserts? Have you pulled them out to make sure they haven't been bent? I went through 2 mounts of theirs. The ECE and the Uni mounts are much more comprehensive.

      @@VancityAudi honestly I saw the bent mounts and really that does not bother me at all. Now if you had a broken tab on the mount that's another deal. But bent does not = crapy. If the product is providing the same results that's what matters to me. Unfortunately I had issues with my diff install and my car has been down nearly a year now. So I can't really speak on the long-term results of the 034 mount system. All I can say I that it worked vs stock. I saw a better launch with 034 system. From my CAD design background I can say the new unitronic system looks to be the best available option on the market. I like the design very much.

      @@mikemounlio87 you and I think of aftermarket performance parts very differently. When I spend $309USD on a part, I expect it to not bend, not warp, not break, not fail and to do what it was intended to do. Not only that, I expect that when I pull it off my car, I'll be able to sell it to another party because it will be in nearly the same condition that I installed it. In this case I couldn't until I replaced the part that was bent. To each their own.

    • @mikemounlio87
      @mikemounlio87 2 роки тому

      I'm not saying that it should bend. Just that if the part functions and does not actually break then who cares.
      With as much as the motor moves in stock rubber I'm not surprised it bends the inserts. But then again the insert is only there to limit the movement and so far mine has done just that. Bent or not. Now if you broke one then let's take a minute to look over the design.
      Maybe aluminum is not the best material for tha6 insert under such high loads. Maybe so ss would be stronger. But I bet it would not provide any better results. Just resist the slight bend.
      Anyway non of that matters. The new uni kit looks great! Can't wait to see the 855 tune.

      @@VancityAudi @Michael Mounlio I have the 034 mount as well and it didn't really help with the violence of the shifting from 1/2 and 2/3. All it really did was make my NVH worse. My question would be: at stage 2, go to the uni street mount? Especially because I don;t have to drop the subframe, just need to bang out the pucks, right? How do you like the mount vs the other 2? Great videos! Subbed for sho!!

    I heard that some people with the ECE dogbone mount had the polyurethane melt. Could these have that same problem?

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Рік тому

      I would imagine that Unitronic spent the time on their R&D to make sure that won't happen. To this day, I haven't heard of any of the same failures on Uni's dogbone.

    I just installed this and feels very stiff compared to OEM. It’s also extremely loud in the cabin. Torqued to 20 (Unitronic website). This is on a TTRS. Any thoughts? Possibly normal - first time doing this.

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Рік тому +1

      Possibly installed incorrectly? It shouldn't make any additional noise. You just just feel more vibration and the ride will become a little more harsh. The only thing I can think of is that when it was installed incorrectly it was touching the sway bar and is causing unnecessary NVH. That's my best guess.

    • @ayerwick3123
      @ayerwick3123 Рік тому +1

      @@VancityAudi thank you for the input. Went to the local shop and had them torque to 10 instead of 20. What a difference. First time doing. Definitely still feel the additional vibrations and harshness. First time doing a mount so likely take times to adjust. Unitronic said it should break in over time too. Will check out the front sway bar!
