      @@tacticalministries3508 I have never trained in BJJ but I watch videos online and my friend who trains in mma needed a grappling partner so I stepped in because why not and I managed to submit him as a no belt by going from a rear naked to an armbar with no training so its not impossible. He may of underestimated me but he did try to get out of both submissions I got him in.

      It's a pretty common tactic. It works beautifully on lower belts, but higher belts see it coming from miles away (although you can still make it work sometimes).

    • @publicbasics3824
      @publicbasics3824 5 років тому +17

      @@Shawn-fr4hg It's all about angles. I am 5'7 and hit triangles frequently. Shoot your leg over, lifting your lower-back off the mat. Pivot your body and under-hook his leg, with that angle you can sinch up your triangle. If needed hit a pit-stop shin-grab as you base with opposite foot to pivot. If you angle properly you should be able to triangle even with stumpy legs.

    • @Shawn-fr4hg
      @Shawn-fr4hg 5 років тому +3

      @@publicbasics3824 Despite the fact that your advice is literally spot on! Unless I find a way to shave a few inches off my thighs/calves it's just not something I can do. The only time it's even somewhat possible is when my partner happens to be on the Skinner side of things. (I'm 5'8 @ 200lbs and built like a walking brick wall) very stout, lot of mass, rather flexible but something are just insanely difficult. i.e. Triangle hahaha
