Requiem angel also makes this go infinite, it makes a cat and a dog for each time you would do a spirit, and if you sac a cat/dog, you would get a spirit, but gets cat/dog instead
Also spoiled in this set that's nuts with this commander in these colors is Bootlegger's Stash. It's an artifact that says "Lands you control have 'tap, create a treasure token'"
with these replacement effects If you're supposed to exile it at the end of turn, the replacing tokens will be exiled anyway. Have a look at Chatterfang rulings for reference. Anything else specified in the effect creating the token (such as tapped, attacking, “That token gains haste,” or “Exile that token at end of combat”) applies to both the original tokens and the Squirrels."
@@themtglounge5345 they're both the same kind of replacement "intesd of creating X, create Y" I the case of chatterfang Y=X+Squirrels, with Jinnie Y=Cats or Dogs. Same rules apply.
Well, we, as humans, live on a plane where we have humanoid apes, and apes... So I guess Jetmir feels the same about cats as we feel about chimpanzees 🤷🏻♂️
unless im mistaken "mirror march" would still exile the tokens, even if they are replaced with cats, or dogs, cause the commander is not creating them, its just changing the type, so the exile trigger still exists on the token, just like it does on esix. if im wrong, would like to konw, cause i play my esix deck alot, and have played with those rules.
I think if the card itself says "at the end of turn, exile these tokens", then yes, you would exile them. However, if the card says "create tokens that have 'at the end of turn, exile this token'", like Rite of the Raging Storm, then you would keep the result around, since you're replacing this token by a cat or dog and the resulting cat/dog does not have "at the end of turn, exile this token"
Because of how the replacement effect works, Martial Coup will make a bunch of cats with haste, and they will stick around after the board wipe so you can easily kill one or more players out of nowhere if Jinnie is in play.
Anddddd that does it. I wasn't going to build anything from this set (was doing Lathril instead), but I'mm a build her instead. I had a Rin and Seri deck I regretted taking apart, and a spare cradle lying around. JUST bought DS and PL too. It's like the universe is sending me a sign.
So I'm absolutely picturing a deck with this, Rin and Seri, and Jetmir all included. But which of the three would make the best commander and which ones should go in the 99?
I currently have a Rin and Seri deck. I see Rin and Seri being the best commander for this deck because I like to use the activated ability to deal damage and it is nice to have that ability in the command zone. I think the decks could be just as fun or strong no matter who you decide to put in the command zone. You could even rotate them around.
Rin and Seri would probably still be the better commander, this card improves upon them because you can replace the tokens they make with these slightly stronger ones, and Jetmir buffs your creatures when you have a lot of them. And since it's a token deck you'd already want to run at least some of the doublers like Parallel Lives, Anointed Procession, etc. Could be wrong about that but just my personal thoughts about it.
yeah im like 99% sure any replacement effect to a NUMBER of tokens doesnt negate any delayed exiled effect because Jinnie Fay doesn't make any tokens at all, she just gives a replacement effect for token generators. Any other effect from the token generator remains.
Jinnie Fay is cool with an old-school commander: Hazezon Tamar. Unlike the sand tokens, the cats won't get exiled. Could be cool with blink shenanigans.
Does the Mirror March combo actually work? The exile of Mirror March isn't a part of the abilities of the token but a delayed trigger of the enchantment. If Mirror March said "the token has "Exile this creature at the beginning of the next end step" it would work because the exile would be a part of the created token's abilities. But I could be wrong.
You’ll eat removal way too fast on the fountain or the commander before it gets rolling. In commander this isn’t good unless it’s unchecked the whole game. Despite what Mitch tells you
Lol, the whole thing with cat-people and regular cats makes me think about Goofy and Pluto. Like….they’re both dogs…..but Pluto’s a pet? How do things work in the Mickey Mouse world?
@@anubis44r googling how replacement effects work I partially agree. Partially only because technically they aren't triggers and wouldn't use the stack. Though as replacement effects they'd operate similarly.
Omg yes I hate using the humanoid cats, I feel like it's so awkward lol. But then again, I guess if someone had a bunch of pet guard monkeys I wouldn't think the same 😅😂
Old Gnawbone would be a better Olivia's Attendants with this commander as it looks at damage any creature you control deals and gives you the versatility of chosing treasure tokens or creatures depending on what you need as it triggers for each creature dealing damage. Deal 20 damage to a player? Make 5 treasures and 15 creatures.
It makes their tokens stronger and allows you to choose whether you want cats or dogs for purposes of leaning into one effect or the other. Doesn't go infinite though
I'm surprised I didn't see Academy Manufactor mentioned. 3 creatures per one clue/food/treasure or 2 creatures and a treasure if you want to have a cake and eat it too.
Yea that would get kinda nuts. You'd have to build up the swarm first though and people would see what you were trying to do. Really powerful. Highly predictable.
I love my doggy deck, AKA team Red Rocket. The pack leader card, yooooo people hate that card. Half never even look at what it does, so when i attack on turn 5 or 6 and we've both spent that time gathering the troops, they are surprised as shit when my 4 to 7 dogs who are a minimal 3/3, most of the time they end up as minimum of 5/4's due to another cards battle trigger and aaaaaaaaa shitty shitty i forgetty. A +1+! enchantment based on choosing card type. But my opponent then blocks appropriately, half of the time we will see them target 2 or 3 of my dogs with double defenders in hopes of killing them, but then it happens..... my dogs don't die but their guys all died, their boards wiped.... "wtf happened?!!?!!? my board should be wiped but he should only have 1 dog left...."dun dun dunnnnn fuckin pack leader. Yah, this is not a super duper aggro deck but a win by turn 4 or 5 happens like 70% of the time. Its only major and consistent weakness is the even faster aggro goblin decks.
Interesting thought: this means you can *always* get a new creature when you Amass, because you don't actually have to get the zombie army.
sadly I think amas cards are only in grixis, so there is only a handful of red amas cards, and maybe only like 2 that are good

Yeah this is going to be a commander I build... I loved Rin and Seri... but have that in 99 instead and run Jinnie... is going to be fun
My brother loves his Rin and Seri deck. If I pull this, I'm tossing it his way
My thoughts exactly. Potentially one shooting people with cats and dogs sounds like a blast to me!
Agreed, going straight into the 99 of my Rin and Seri deck!
I’m just going to make them separate decks. Make Jinnie a full on token Ramp but keep Rin and Seri (and Kaheera) as they are.
Same going in the 99 and moving a little to cat only

I'm really loving the hybrid mana costs for commanders. It makes these multi colored cards a little easier to cast.

First thing I thought of is my Marath deck. 1 to cast 2/2 or 3/1 tokens lol
Awesome now my deck can remind me of my house lol. I'm gonna look forward to this card, Storm Herd is gonna be good with this.
I feel like a cat to a humanoid cat would be like monkeys to us.
