I love people talking about the Early Rave scene with such fondness. I left School in 92' And went straight into Pill's and Ratpack, Clarkee and Slipmatt.... Amazing times. I went to a "Rave" a couple of years ago and it was cheese and Chav's. Then i realised although the Music was good in the Old days it was all about the Spirit and lifestyle....
rest in power Keith - thanks for being one of most raw underground figures to ever break through to the mainstream and still stay true, we will always remember you.
10:47 I love how keith pauses for a brief moment and says "multimedia" instead of "social media", no doubt his brain was thinking of encyclopedia encarta '95. This man is the 1990s personified, and a true legend.
RUHE IN FRIEDEN KEITH DU BIST VIEL ZU FRUH VON UNS GEGANGEN. DANKE FUR DEINE MUSIK ES WAR DIE MUSIK MEINER JUGEND UND ES WAR GEIL. WIR SEHEN UNS EINES TAGES AUF DER ANDEREN SEITE .
Just LOVE the prodigy and Keith flint !!! My fave act ever. I really miss those rave days and the whole culture of " like minded just out for the music and to be free" attitude! Everybody felt as one , in it together , real good happy days! so far away from the plastic, consumer driven, bullshit, show off, look at my swag, culture of "I got more of everything than you" we got now. Soulless music, zero creativity, everyone hates everyone else. It's the opposite, people go out and hate on each other, drugs now are to get low, not high! Music is beyond mindless shite! No morals, no freedom ,man hope this shitty era passes soon lol
+Josef Mandel I know what you mean. Some ppl openly brag about selling drugs and then immediately leaving. It takes me a lot of willpower to not punch them in the throat. SMH.
Nothing will ever happen like that again. I’m just glad I was part of it. Nothing happens in secret any more. Kids would need to leave social media and make the sharing of movements like this more organic. People were experimenting with music because of computers and new technology. It’s limitations made it more creative. Now we have entire studios in a laptop. Feels like so long ago but best time of my life.
edstone147 so true... these social media junkies would never keep the location a secret like we used to, the cops would prob be there before them now lol aaahhh the good old days
It does still happen. There's a thriving free party scene that's more underground in London and the teknivals in Europe. Also, live hardware sets and mixing on vinyl and tunes made not just on a laptop 👍 it's still going... You just have to find the good side of it all amongst a lot of shit.
This guy basically defined a lot of who I want to be. A free-spirited punk who does wtf he wants! His legend is set in stone. He was the last true face of punk. RIP brother. You are missed.
Oh Keith Flint, you break my heart because you are so honest and authentic and the World FOREVER needs genuine folk like you, but I honour and respect your choices for yourself 🙏 it's JUST so devastating and sad - sleep sweetly you Angel, gone way too soon... Blessed be to You and Your loved ones and kith & kin... Respect always, missed always 🙏💓🌟 the World needs authentically and truth and you shared that without guile in spades! RIP good man 🙏✌️🌻

The world's gonna miss his wild energy. Genuinely nice guy, no ego, lovely to see tributes from around the world pouring in. Desperately sad he felt he had to end it like this. RIP Keith
One of the only few that managed to take the underground rave scene into the commercial level.. R.I.P Keith 🙏🏻 Prodigy music still lives on, along side many other legends.. Got to big up XL recordings, massive love for this label 👊🏻
So gutted he's gone, I was there in the start 89-93ish what a time to be a teen-ager,it was movement which I doubt will happen again.for a brief moment we thought we'd inherited the world.✌️👍
Noname 1st I literally missed this by a couple of years. Gutted I didnt experience the "illegal" raves. I had a video of the book of love from 1992 and always wished I could have experienced that. Amazing man. If only the respect from all of his fans could have convinced him to stay with us.
we fkn took it. we stopped being told and we forged a new path. we just loved while governments hated and they went to war on freedom in the shadows. always the opportunity kids. ✊
Really wish this was a podcast, like 2 hours long, really felt inspired by Keith and will always cherish what he did in the 90’s, mixing rave with hip-hop, and punk. Created a completely new energy. Early inspiration for a young raver, from watching the firestarter music video when I was 6, to the warehouse Rave ridden ‘no good’ music video.
Im 45 now. I was one of the first ravers and loved every free party in old factories. Raves in the cave. Best days off my life. I remember my walls where covered in flyers :)
I was proud to have been part of the movement, it was underground, a reality that was shared and loved by our group, it was exciting and for me it all began at the eclipse in cov. The prodigy were dancing at raves too then went on to live their dream. RIP keith. X
R.I.P KEITH FLINT THANKS FOR INSPIRING US RAVERS ALL THESE YEARS SINCE THE DAWN OF THE UNDERGROUND! YOU WERE YOU ARE AND YOU ALWAYS BE AN AMAZING BRILLIANT RAVE PRODIGY !!
'88 till 93 - 94. Every weekend banging it! Magic times doesn't come close to describe. It was ineffable. Those who were there know. The shadows of the magic remains in the Heavenly music left for posterity.
A genius has left us, a jilted generation without ignitor... Raved onto the Prodigy, SL2 n so on. Am so proud to have lived these ravin' years, fuckin' massive. We'll miss u Mr Keith. RIP bro.
I rarely get sad when celebrities die.... but I'm upset over Keith. He was one of us, he had a gift and was a beautiful soul. Stayed rooted and didn't let fame turn him into an arse.
I am so glad to have been a part of this scene. It was truly ground breaking, a new thing, subculture - I like a strong enough vocabulary to describe what it was like. I truly miss it. I found The Prodigy in 1991 and became an addict to their music, always asking DJ's to play them. RIP Keith. You are missed.
Not the way it is portrayed nowadays. Same goes for Dubstep. When I saw dubstep people usually think Rusko, Skrillex, and other artists that popularized it. When I say dubstep I am talking about actual reggae inspired bass music.
@@chemtrail2269 but what your talking about is called two step which is what reggae bass music is know as.dubstep was created by Benga and skream in a records store in London in the early 2000.reggae has never been known as dubstep
Rave + tiny bit Punk + tiny bit of Rock + some HipHop + much (Trance) Techno all of that with sometimes a bit of Reggae? ... Seems "totally insane" (or impossible) yet The Prodigy did it! ... What some people don’t know is that Keith was a truly nice, gentle and polite human being. His stage persona was unique because he channeled his aggression and passion and let all out on stage. He is one of the true greats ... RIP Keith Flint
Those were the days when you were steaming at 2am and made friends with complete strangers no fear of getting stabbed or acid thrown in your face. Everyone lived for the weekend and we're brought together by the music gos I miss the early 90's. Now I feel like an old man reminising about my teen years. I feel sorry for my 6 year old growing up with shite music and living in a boring world.
music is better now than it's ever been. you're just old and not seeking it out. by your same assessment of today's music, music from the early 90's was Milli Vanilli, Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch, etc ... my point is that radio music has always been shit and was actually shittier in the early 90's than it is now. They weren't playing The Prodigy, Acen, Ellis Dee, E-Type, etc on the radio. SL2 maybe a little, but let's all be honest, On a Ragga Tip was a shit song none of us ever looked forward to hearing at a rave.
Mark Mark I agree. Our children will never experience this sense of 'community' within the raves. As time has gone on the only place close to this is 'gay town' or pride. A total sense of respect and love for one another. And feeling safe on a night out. The real rave scene has disappeared 😔
@@gregj6648 He wasn't just talking about the music but about the experience as a whole. Hard to explain to anyone who wasn't around back then, it was AWESOME.
Born the last day of 69 enjoyed every minute of those days.. was at the eclipse in Coventry the weekend everybody is in the place, let’s go dropped and Fabio and grooverider played it on repeat.. what a time.. the likes of which we’ll never see again.. god bless you all who know what I mean and god rest your soul flinty.. you were part of the party x
The Prodigy have been apart of so many peoples lives growing up. Memories that positively shaped us. Their awesomeness has never faded and never will. Thank you for being a part of me Keith
I am 17 years old and at my dads we would always listen to prodigy music, at his house or in his car. And I’ve always wanted to be able to go to a rave and listen to prodigy live and meet Keith, but now to realize that I won’t ever be able to meet Keith is heart breaking. We lost a legend. R.I.P firestarter forever missed.
Still devastated he left us all so soon. When I listen to the prodigy, I will always think of Kieth Flint giving a phenomenal performance. The music will still live on in spirit of him. RIP Kieth. Keep raving up there. We miss you ⚘.
1992: The raves and MTV party zone was the best. Just epic stuff! I never did any drugs, but I got pretty drunk. Just dancing and making love to complete strangers, till the sun went up. Never any fighting or violence. Just pure happiness. Come 2018: The raves are gone, the magic is gone, and well, MTV isn't MTV anymore. The youths of today sit at home, isolated, playing video games, flipping pictures on tinder or watching porn. Jesus Christ what has the world come to. Anyway thanx Prodigy and XL for 'Prodigy Experience' one of the best albums ever❤️

Matthew Bevan I thought exactly the same
lol
Matthew Bevan 😂😂😂
RUHE IN FRIEDEN KEITH DU BIST VIEL ZU FRUH VON UNS GEGANGEN. DANKE FUR DEINE MUSIK ES WAR DIE MUSIK MEINER JUGEND UND ES WAR GEIL. WIR SEHEN UNS EINES TAGES AUF DER ANDEREN SEITE .
What beautiful soul...he will be dearly missed
SMH.
The air we breathed was different back then,it was filled with electricity, the atmosphere came with a feeling and I'm so lucky we got to experience it
Me too, well put...
+Jazzy more innocent
too right dude. The thing to do now is go to gigs, not clubs.
I love you so much Keith. I'm stunned and speechless. I'll catch you at the next all nighter on the other side, rest easy brother.
RIP good man 🙏✌️🌻
R.I.P Mr Flint....grew up form day one with the Birth of The Prodigy into the scene....you will be forever missed brother...
RIP KEITH FLINT!! From a black man from Martinsville, Virginia you'll be missed!!
Music see's no color my brother. Black, white & in between we can unite and dance our lives away. R.I.P Keith !
what does it matter if you are black? :D
@@druidofthefang a lot of my people have never heard of him, hell even the genre, ask any of your black friends and see what they say, come back and tell me I'm right just as u are race shouldn't matter friend, have a great day!!
Vee Aye That’s astonishing. On a UK news channel YT account a guy wrote The Prodigy was quite popular within the Black community (UK or US)
@@davidnavarro4821 cool
They were the days. I have never been happier.
They are so right. I see music as stepping stones, your ears develop as you get old .. I'm definitely down the rabbit hole, no judgement, just enjoy your journey
RIP Keith Flint (September 17, 1969 - March 4, 2019), aged 49
You will always be remembered as a legend.
The world's gonna miss his wild energy. Genuinely nice guy, no ego, lovely to see tributes from around the world pouring in. Desperately sad he felt he had to end it like this. RIP Keith
One of the only few that managed to take the underground rave scene into the commercial level.. R.I.P Keith 🙏🏻
Prodigy music still lives on, along side many other legends..
Rest in peace Keith. Your contribution to music will never be forgotten. We miss you!
He shaped my childhood in such a major way I’ll never forget that Keith , thank you for all the memories Rave in Peace ✌🏻😥🙏🏼
I lived through this time...totally amazing..prodigy were so fresh then...so much energy...still luv them today!
I wish the world could of given him as much happiness as he gave it, awesome chap, awesome band - The Prodigy Lives Forever. Rest in Peace Keith.
So bummed out by the news
RIP Keith Flint! Another legend leaves town
Very said news, but at least he lived it large and real...much respect! RIP
You'll be missed Keith. Your dancing and vocals will be forever remembered.
Thanks XL
Thanks The Prodigy experience 1992 for making me a loving Happy grateful lad .
Keith flint RiP (Raving In Paradise)
Saw Prodigy twice in the 90's and they were incredible...they really did play a rave for 2 hours...RIP Keith
Wow, he looked great in 2014. So sad that he lost it to depression. RIP man!
People can put a smile on through depression. You never really know what's going on in a person's mind. People become experts at putting on the mask.
@@davidhorman5836 You got that right. Damn that's tough.
Maybe he wasn't depressed
His candle burned bright. Lived more than 10 men.
So true.
'88 till 93 - 94. Every weekend banging it! Magic times doesn't come close to describe. It was ineffable. Those who were there know. The shadows of the magic remains in the Heavenly music left for posterity.
Amen to that brother!
hyped all week , hyped all weekend, locked in your room Sunday afternoon not feeling too great!
Robert Lund Sundays were for, dire train journeys home, bed, cramp and snoring til the evening come. Then a few goes on the SLs
Citronics for me
Beautifully put sir.
My life would be so dark without The Prodigy! What a legend! :'(
Forgot how stunningly beautiful he was . Never forgotten. I hope he has found his peace ☮️ xxxx
RIP Kieth your a true rave legend
A genius has left us, a jilted generation without ignitor... Raved onto the Prodigy, SL2 n so on. Am so proud to have lived these ravin' years, fuckin' massive. We'll miss u Mr Keith. RIP bro.
The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long... RIP brother x
These guys have the heart and soul that edm djs are missing
CHEM TRAIL the prodigy is still Edm you know
"Electronic dance music"
Not the way it is portrayed nowadays. Same goes for Dubstep. When I saw dubstep people usually think Rusko, Skrillex, and other artists that popularized it. When I say dubstep I am talking about actual reggae inspired bass music.
Most of them are not dj's, they can't dj and they don't dj live.
Completely true
@@chemtrail2269 but what your talking about is called two step which is what reggae bass music is know as.dubstep was created by Benga and skream in a records store in London in the early 2000.reggae has never been known as dubstep
Rest in peace Keith. I remember the Prodigy and Foo Fighters gig. Stuck with me all these years later. Amazing times.
when i was a kid, i used to be so scared of keith but now he looks like a chill awesome dad with piercings
fox so true
hes so cute
Scared? you fucking mug
Yeah me too When i was like 12
-13. Im 32 now! I was scared when i saw him on mtv singin im a fire starter in that dark tunnel haha.
agree!)
RIP Keith Flint
beautifully put
Prodigy played at the Sands Centre carlisle 91. I was 15 at a rave event, and I still remember to this day rip keith
Will never forget The Prodigy playing Charlie live at the Eclipse back in 91......fucking awesome
Did Essex proud. Dance among the stars, you beautiful man 🐜
Keith Flint. The Legend. Your memory will lbe loved and will be FOREVER
i can listen this guy all day long…. R.I.P Keith..!!😢
Great times, from a 56 year old who found the music i had been waiting for all my earlier life. God bless you Keith Flint.
Hopefully your 6 year old will be educated like my 3 year old and in ten years a revolution will start in feel good music. Let them lead the way.
music is better now than it's ever been. you're just old and not seeking it out. by your same assessment of today's music, music from the early 90's was Milli Vanilli, Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch, etc ... my point is that radio music has always been shit and was actually shittier in the early 90's than it is now.
You will always be remembered Keith as one of the most powerful voices in music.
LONG LIVE THE PRODIGY,!!!!!
AMEN TO THE OLD SKOOL,!!!!!!
I say, what a lucid and charismatic young man.
He's always had that star quality. Have you seen any backstage videos? He's genuinely hilarious. Like funnier than a lot of comedians.
RiP Keith thanks for some mad times Respect
Man i just wanna give him the biggest hug.
Still devastated he left us all so soon. When I listen to the prodigy, I will always think of Kieth Flint giving a phenomenal performance. The music will still live on in spirit of him. RIP Kieth. Keep raving up there. We miss you ⚘.
R.I.P Keith Flint! You will forever be raving in our hearts!
CHRISTIAN Lowensprung the mtv parties with the bowls of coke and the gazillion bottles of champagne, I used to just get drunk and go find a "quiet" corner and go to sleep it was too mental for me lol
Coming outside into the 4am morning chill wet through with sweat and ceiling drips and steam pouring off you! 1987/1988 acid & Detroit house music warehouse days! The futures kids will never get to feel what we felt during those times.
Tantrum Desire you missed my point! There was nothing before like it..it was new...exciting..30 years on its not a new thing to today's kids. No offence but your coming into a scene & experience that's will never be like it was back then :)
until better future drugs are invented
Detroit raves were good till 2002. You just feel that love and everyone was kind and respectful.
Everything but detroit and house music, LDN is where it was at
Thank fuck for that! It wasnt big or clever haha
His eyes are so cosmic. First I heard Prodigy when I was 16. My musical preferences influenced by Prodigy very much. Now I'm 39 and still love them. Thanx Keith for all. I feel like my youth finished. That's sad. RIP Keith, RIP legend.
I just love this interview with Keith. Thanks for sharing it. Too sad he s no longer with us. 😔❤️
