Not very complicated, but good info prior to purchase. It's precisely what I wanted to know. The video wasn't drawn out or over done, and I didn't feel like i was being talked down to. Perfect.

This is an heater. One of the better buys ever that I have made. I paid $129, They are WAY over that now and for a good reason. Clean burning. The C02 level safety meter on the wall reads ZERO all the time It last 3-4 days on the low setting. . I'll buy another if I see one for a good price again.

Just bought one of these heaters today from Home Depot for $105 + tax. Quality seems very good and its design is much more suitable for around the home than a camping style heater.
On initial start up there was a slight smell of paint burning off of the unit. There was no smoke, but the smell was noticeable, (recommend the first start up be outside to let the paint smell cook off).
Other than that, seems like a great product for a good price.

Thank you!!! The manual didn’t give these instructions. Also, I watched another install but he didn’t know to remove that tank band so the tank wasn’t sitting into the hole correctly. Glad I watched you👍

Why not show it on high with all three ceramic heater plates glowing?

    Today I unboxed and setup my Mr Heater;
I bought it after watching a number of YT videos about it.
Luckily there was no issue with the pilot staying lit, but the knob would not "easily" turn to "low/med/high" position.
I tried with the knob pushed down and not pushed down, and would not go to "low".
I was afraid to turn it really forcefully, that I could break it.
I called the number in the manual for assistance and waited forever on hold.
While on hold my anger built and I decided to go ahead and force it.
It then really started putting out the heat and began to glow, as expected.
I then made sure I had not broke it by turning it off and doing the startup again.
This time the knob turned very easy.
Evidently on initial use some of us will experience this, surely I'm not the only one?
Just wanted all to know this if you get one with a "stiff" knob.
Side note; on low, it cranks out much more heat than my 1500watt space heater on high.
I bought it for when the power goes off, since I heat my entire small house with elec space heaters.
Now I'm thinking about the cost of propane vs elec and I'd probably save some bucks by using propane all the time.
Not figured exactly how much yet, since I'll have to weigh in the cost and time of going to get my tanks refilled.
Prior to having this, my worse case scenario was to bring in my propane bar-b-q and use it for heating, in an emergency.
It does not have the ceramic or whatever it is that glows and would need to be vented, thus losing heat thru a cracked window, etc.
There were times when temps got down near zero, I'd have to turn on my elec oven for added heat source.
I think those days are now gone.
I've got a small portable charcoal grill that I could position right on top of this and be able to cook using pots and pans.
    Overall, very pleased.

Does the propane tank pickup any heat from the heater when the heater is on the highest setting? Had this happen on a Box BBQ smoker and had to add a piece of sheet metal as a heat baffle.

How is your heater working now after 3 years? I ask because I have a similar model and at first it would just go out every 20 minutes or so, after that it got worse and worse until it no longer works.

  • @Bunkysworkshop

I got one of these and it really puts out the heat. We have two heat pumps and when it gets really cold the back up heat turns on and that’s costly. My only concern is that while this heater is burning is it ok to be breathing in the fumes?

  • @EarlGuyton425

In my case, the dual flame floor heater is the best. I live in an older home in which was set up for the old dearborn heaters that hooked to natural gas, and the natural gas outlet is still on my wall by the floor. Then if my natural gas was ever turned off, I could simply hookup a 40 pound propane tank to it.. I live in Houston Tx and several weeks ago some people died in their homes when electric was shut down and some peoples natural gas was even cut off.

I used to heat my apartment with similar heater for two winters.
The main problem was moisture, there really was A LOT of it. Windows would all fog up and drip water. Other downside is that it smells. Not too much, but it is noticeable if you have good nose. The thing is, you get used to it.
Other than that, I had no other problems. It kept me warm, and I didn't suffocate, as some people scared me. I installed CO detector, and it never got triggered.

      What’s a CO detector ?

    • @benzedrex
      @benzedrex 2 роки тому

@@Taniambeltran93 carbon monoxide detector. When you burn something indoor, regardless of the product claim you want to be sure there is any carbon monoxide emission due malfunctioning and/or not following product instructions. Actually the CO detectors' alarm should be trigged bit just on a certain level of CO but any time it's concentration increases too fast.
To express the concept easy, this heater is for outdoors only but it SHOULD be safe to be used indoor if the CO levels are below 12 ppm per hour.
Everytime you use an outdoor heater indoor you are doing it at your own risk. Be aware.

I never unhook my tank when not using and been over 3 years using these. I have 3 of them. The safety feature is nice because just moving it will shut if off. I also keep all my propane tanks inside. Have 5 tanks here so never run out. Using mine to heat a living space since no working furnace in the house. Also I only use on the low setting so goes almost 3 full days on a tank.

im interested in all kinds of alternatives for heating, but as a complete newby to this particular form of heating, i find economics of this never really addressed. OK, it runs on a gas bottle. how much does a bottle cost? how does it compare to say kerosene heating? etc.

This video doesn't cover that and because of it, I give it a 0. This is not a safe video and I don't recommend it.
