I know right?! I think he is a super handsome & unique looking older man now too. Has that certain something plus so charming. Talented, Intelligent, Witty , that's what is so sexy.
I think considering he is our musical idol, its very hard to got an objective point of view, if you did not knew this guy and cross him in the street you would not pay attention to him . Like jagger or guys like that with this 70's look
@@fgsp8909 I wholeheartedly disagree. If this guy walked down the street looking like this, NO ONE would care who he was or what he did for a living. He is staggeringly NOT here - like NO ONE any of us ever see in our ordinary day to day lives.
Robbie Robertson pretty much had it all. Looks, charm and talent. I just finished his book "Testimony", however his life was not always easy. His real father was killed before he was born. His stepfather was physical abusive to both Robbie and his mother, who divorced his stepfather when he became too violent.
Ironic for Scorsese to cite Muddy Waters when in fact, Waters segment was during a planned downtime-reload for all cameras.... watch Muddy and you'll notice no camera changes until the last 30 seconds of Mannish Boy because no one else was able to shoot except one camera that didn't get the memo.
Scorsese looks so much like that other great rock documentarian, Marty Di Bergi. Seriously, Rob Reiner based that character on Scorsese putting himself in The Last Waltz shadowing The Band.
TLW was a successful attempt to outdo The Beatles “Let It Be” as an “end of a rock band” documentary… In a few days, however, here in 2021, The Beatles will attempt to outdo themselves with the “Get Back” doc
dallashood67 Do you think so pal? I know De Niro visited him in hospital to talk him into making Raging Bull. But Scorsese being hospitalised had nothing to do with Cocaine I believe.
The Band didn't choice to do the concert but Robbie Robertson choice to do the concert. The Band wanted to keep on going go but Robbie wanted to just party with Scorsese in Hollywood. The two just had tons of cocaine and girls coming in and out of their house for just about a year. I wouldn't mind it but Robbie Robertson made it sound like he was getting away from the parting as the reason he wanted to leave the band.
@François Gaspard Richard hung himself from depression man. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that they were playing stadiums and only a few years later, Robbie was gone and they weren't even selling out clubs. It was depressing. But Robbie kind of just gave up and left in search of that fame.
I think you are right that Robbie wanted to move on, and yes he did drugs and cocaine. However, he also had a young family, and he was tired of touring. He didn't do heroin, but Levon, Rich and Richard did, not make a judgement, but I think when you shooting heroin you have problems focusing on other things.
No they were Ronnie Hawkins band in Toronto I think and then Bob Dylan poached them from Ronnie and then they had success on their own. Half of them are Canadian and most think the are a Southern Rock group.
I never get tired of looking at Robbie or hear him talking.
Is it just me or could anyone else just look at Robbie all day long? Excuse me while I go back to my happy place ❤
And aren't we glad that it was recorded for the future. I'm approaching 70 and it's great that the music that I love is being saved.
Watching this again just after Robbie passed away. The man kept a great head of hair ‘til the end. RIP Robbie Robertson ✌🏻
That Robbie went around looking like this without being handed modeling contracts left and is absolutely insane.

What? He's a rockstar lots of them are nice looking.
Robbie is so god damn good looking. I mean that as a straight guy and appreciate how photogenic he is.
And his speaking voice is even more hypnotic 😉

This clip is solid gold. There are few late 70s Scorsese interviews
He still talks fast til this day. COked or not, shit doesn't end lol
He said he would like to make a film about Dylan and he did- he made the best one, in fact.
Actually, two of the best ones, No Direction Home and A Rolling Thunder Story.
@@orbison Rolling Thunder's fictional bits ruin it for me. Incredibly odd choice in my opinion. Love all the archival footage though
Those collars...
2:42 "We decided to shoot it it from from their point of view. From Robbie's point of view." Need he say more?
Marty's coke use is legendary but he's giving me bad old flashback heebie jeebies watching him speak here.
he sure is talking fast!
Scorsese on coke speaks even faster then cleaned up Scorsese.
Scorsese Crazy and Handsome.
an amazing night

Marty--where can i get a shirt like that?
It snowballed… you bet it did!

Lighting director was from The Sound Of Music.
Would like to see what didn't make the movie.
Concert 4 hours
Movie 90 minutes
it's out there on youtube, all 5 hrs of it
4:29 - "Uh, you not gonna crash, Marty?"
Have a whiff have a whiff have a whiff on me😂😂

And it's just too long...better as a fly on the wall look at the Beatles than a masterwork like the Last Waltz.
When the CBC was cool.
Glad they got Muddy Waters.
'would you want to do anything else, musically?' - what a silly question in retrospect!
Scorsese is coked out of his mind.
Good times indeed.
IndyDefense No shit lol. Dude's speaking so fast his words are gonna end up tripping over themselves and turn into a mashed gobbledegook lol.
+IndyDefense Usually people say that as a joke, but really, that may actually be the truth!
Yeah this was at the peak of his addiction. If it wasn't for his good friend Robert De Niro, he would've been dead by now.
dallashood67 Do you think so pal? I know De Niro visited him in hospital to talk him into making Raging Bull. But Scorsese being hospitalised had nothing to do with Cocaine I believe.
Ha. He called him Rodney. Rodney Robertson
Boy that coke musta been good. Take a drink every time he plugs "New York New York"
He's on the grade A coke there I'd say that he can't feel his teeth throat mount and his tongue by the sound of him
1:00 Rodney? 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ You had one job interviewer guy.
Thanksgiving day is Ladt Waltz day
Scorsese sounds like he's on speed or something.
Cocaine. It was a lot of cocaine.
Coke
Rodney? Did I imagine that?
The Last Waltz looks exactly like the coke party it was.
It was thanksgiving....people came dressed up...Bill thanked me outside...
The only survivor of the four now is Martin.

4/5th of The Band are Canadian, Southern Ontario, Toronto area
Marty is so coked out. I can see him saying this, the same way, to a stranger in a bathroom stall while blasting some rails .
