Steve believe me that if your knees get fkd the pain is immense and constant. Played football, volleyball and ran until I was 40. Since then both knees have gone through wear and tear. I have had 5 knee ops on both knees , I have cortisone injections , take painkillers everyday, find it hard to walk because of the pain. Just be careful and don't run if you're slightly injured.

The man who started the jogging craze way back in the 80s, he went missing for several days, they eventually found his dead body and his autopsy proved he had a heart attack while jogging, also at that time the biggest cause of medical discharges in the British army was from knee damage. Jogging is an addictive hobby and I became addicted in my early 20s, slightly increasing the distance one day and improving my time until I could no longer beat that time then extended the run again until I found myself running for two hours every afternoon when it was possible. My knees are OK but at 63 years young I can't run anymore my walking is fine although I should do more but I have other health issues preventing me doing so.
Doesn't mean that jogging caused his heart attack though!! Many more people die of heart attacks from obesity and smoking related heart disease, running and fitness in general done properly are not bad for your knees or any other joints, there are plenty of people in their 60's 70's who struggle to get out of a chair who have never done a days exercise in their life, I know which path I'd rather choose
