Getting the hues are the hardest!!
ik when i paint sometimes the hues of my skin are more orangey than my ideal color
I like how you showed John Singer Sargent. He’s a great example of how great a painting can be without blending at all.
Yes absolutely!
Daria Callie
I have started to paint my first ever portrait 2 months ago. And I challenged myself to try and not blend.
I have now covered 90% of the canvas and only blended a tiny bit. (Couldn’t help myself). But now I regret the little bit I did blend (both eyes). I now see how muted it made the eyes. (Her eyes were a dark green, not they are a light grey).
Oh this is so interesting, I don’t think I'd be able to do it..
I wish I could see this painting of yours
Daria Callie
hmm.. I can send you it through your Facebook page? What would be easiest for you? But I won’t be done for another week or so.(I’m pretty slow)
Yes, great! I'd love to see it when it's done.

She's so skilled. I love her videos and how they're so calm.
Imagine walking to her art gallery..
It would be soooo sooo pleasing and aesthetic
0:50 thank you so much. I was trying to figure out why my paintings were not as realistic, I overblend. 💙
This isn’t a talent. This is a super power. Us artists shouldn’t take this power for granted. We should continue to pursue it❤️❤️
She advices not to struggle for smoothing but there’s no painting which is smoother than hers on youtube. When I see her painting, I feel like I’m watching melting chocolate. All they are healing videos. Her painting is the best among all oil paint portraits that I could find on youtube
Every time u paint it looks like a human is peaking out
I cant afford oil paints right now but your techniques works so well on my watercolor medium! Im so excited to switch to oil paints as soon as possible. 😍
Oil paints are very expensive, BUT if you look closely you can actually acquire good quality oil paints for very cheap! If you live near a Michael's you can purchase a paint set by the brand artist loft for $5.00 they have all the primary colors. For a medium I personally use linseed oil which is only $6.00 for a quart at home depot. Hope this helps!
@@thecriispyart1902 Thank you! We dont have Michaels here in Philippines but we have home depot. I think Ill just deep dive search for art stores here and I hope I find some good ones!
get then from china, even the good paint have cheap prices
@@lmx2382 Have you tried any? My first watercolor paints are made from China and its not that bad for a beginner.
@@valevictorianxx yeah i bought a whole of artist level paint set for 100 USD consisting of 3 titanium white 225ml,1 Prussian blue, cadmium red, and lots more
how can someone be this good
through countless painstaking years of practice
Paint everyday for at least 3 hours per day. Take advice from good painters.
and be self taught at the same time incredible!
You are so beautifully neat and tidy! I am so untidy when I paint, but then my paintings are still neat and tidy at the end. But I wish I could discipline myself to be more organised like you.
You're such a talent. If you painted in the past, you would've been what we're studying today.
Great video! You explained and showed what usually takes people a whole hour to do. Thank you
I'm working with oils, I'm trying to do landscapes and impressionism, just to teach myself value. Then I want to do people, I already do good with my wax pencils. But Oils are a whole new world.
Fantastic insight and advice. I wish i could give you more than 1 like.

I stumbled upon you today and was immediately HOOKED!
I Love Your Painting !
Bravo , Andrew !
Hi Daria you have an amazing talent. I love your tutorials i learned so much from it. I hope you can also do a more in depth tutorial on how you sketch your portraits. How you scale and proportion the image, how you measure them and make them look like the actual reference photo. Thanks again!

awesome video. Thank you very much for the tips. I'm motivated to paint again, I would love to take a class in realism painting. Can't wait until the art schools, open back up again for business after the virus ends so I can do that!!!!! A painting class on realistic works, and portraits would be great for me!!!! Stay Safe, and you now have a new subscriber.

Thank u for the useful info.
This video made my day!!!!!!!
❤️❤️
Hey Daria, Great channel. I will take tips from you on how to strengthen my own. Speaking of sargent and over blending, I would love to see you do a more alla prima, tiled painting with more visible brush strokes. But its more of a personal preference, so disregard it.
You are super artist.I ambig fan of u.
amazing i love it :D
So good..
no entiendo nada de lo que decís pero amo tus pinturas me encantan tus vídeos y espero algún día poder pintar así
It looks like a PHOTOGRAPH WOW
Thank you!
I will always love ur video
Bouguereau's method was much different. Photographs taken while he painted show that he had a monochrome underpainting before applying his colors.
I really need to learn to do this.
Wow!
Buen video . Thanks !!😉
طريقتها رائعة في التلوين
what advice on mineral spirits / mediums? Does it help with blending? Do you use them?
Iam a big fan of u from india...my dream is painting like u❤️❤️
Can you do a video going in depth about mediums? And how to dispose of them? I want to get stand linseed oil, but I have no idea of how to dispose of it correctly. Also, do you need linseed oil in most of your paintings, for blending and such? Anyway, I love your paintings, they are stunning!
I ❤️ it so much ☺️😘😘😘
😘😘😘😘
Thanks!
What would happen if you paint without an underpainting??? And why some of my underpaintings make darker the next layer of paint even if it's dry?
Thanks dear
Will this be a livestream? Im so confused
Wonderful portraits, thank you. Question? are you using any linseed oil.
Your the one I LOVE YOU SO MUCH , I WILL SUB U.
Hello mam ur art is amazing
I have a hard time recognizing certain hues in the skin, and getting the right depth. How did you learn to recognize the different colors?
I'm just curious, are you painting on glass? do you gesso it first?
Hello!! I was wondering, what do you paint on? 💛
Hello, question: do you change brush for every tone? Or you swipe the brush you use? Bravo for your inspiring work.
great
great
great
Interesting choice of oil paint brands: Nevskaya Palitra. Gow did you decide upon that particular one?
What brand of brushes do you prefer?
Have you tried Rosemary and Co. handmade brushes from the UK. They have a reputation for being exceptional, and very reasonably priced.
This is a great help. What is your painting surface?
Thanks :)
I greatly admire your approach to color mixing and how clean and organized your overall approach is.
Can you comment on the importance of the size and type of hair of the brushes you use. Ive noticed that several artists that paint in this realistic style use very small rounds. perhaps as small as a number 2. Also does the hair influence your work much? hog bristles vs. sable hair vs synthetic.
Hi. I'm a fan. May I know where did you get your brushes?
