There’s a lot to be gained from watching this, and a lot of insight into the person Pat was and still somewhat is. I’m very glad this exists, you guys did a great job interviewing him. I hope Pat, wherever he is, is happy and alive.

I first discovered pat the bunny from a punk I met at show who lived in New York and came down to los angels California (where I live) and we got drunk and he invited me and friend to his house to drink some more and he showed us pat and opened the world to me of folk punk! 🤘

Its sad hearing him say "I cant imagine not writing songs" after his announcement 2 weeks ago of his retirement. Thanks for the music Pat, thanks for the message, thanks for helping me get off heroin through your music. I know you said that you dont believe you can have that effect, but at least for me you did. I dont wake up sick anymore and I am not saying your music is responsible for that but it helped through some rough times. I am writing this as if he will see it eventually. I've been a pat fan since I was 16 and first heard Johnny hobo. Then we hung out when you played a show at my house on my birthday (we are the same age) since that night I have seen you at pretty much every NYC/NJ/PA show ...hell even in Maine that one time lol, any way I'm rambling. Thanks again. Saddest words I every read were "Pat (no bunny, at last)"
+Christopher Doroba that was beautiful man he is my favorite artist and when i saw that i wished him luck but man it sucks all his new stuff was so good and the hardest thing i have ever read as well was the pat (no bunny, at last) i only saw him once before i ever loved the music i have not had the chance to see him because right as he played a show in my state i moved and never got to see him when i was in love with the music.
From what I can tell Pat says he'll be back, he just won't be making Punk music anymore.

Finding out that Pat played 40k and loves DnD made my day.
I disagree with what Pat said here about him "saving peoples lives." While agree with a lot of what he has to say, I think that he just doesn't understand the impact he has. It may be a case of him not knowing how to internalize these emotions, which he even states. Having a "role model" in the punk scene when it comes to sobriety is a huge thing. In a scene that has always been about drugs and partying, Pat rebelled against that and gave kids who were in the same situation hope. His impact may be small, but to pretend there was no impact is just wrong. Books, documentaries, and songs, absolutely do change the world, and change how people think. It isn't Pat changing the entire world himself, but he is rather one piece in a very large puzzle. Listening to the Beatles made me understand that world peace is attainable if we just work together. Punk rock music enlightened me about many political ideas, and shaped my worldview in a significant way. Just in the same way that Pat's music has helped me see the light on the other side of drug addiction. It was an example of someone else who had his friends die, who had his entire life thrown away to drugs, and he came out on the other side. If people are saying that "Pat saved their life," they are correct. If his music was the catalyst for you, then who is he to say that is wrong? I think that Pat is rather honest and humble here, but I just don't think he is correct.
I think you didn't get his point. He didn't want to claim any responsibility for the changes that his music may have caused in other people's lives because he actually believes that each individual is entirely responsible for the changes or decisions they make with their own life. Meaning that it doesn't really matter if this band or that book changed your life or affected you in this or that way because in reality, it's you who identify with this band or that book because you recognize in it aspects of your own self. And if you decide do act differently based on those aspects of yourself that you recognize in others or other things, the responsibility for those changes are exclusively yours. He said at the end of that question: "I think that whatever gets shifted is already within myself (within you)"
Dude you waaayyy over thought that comment. Sit back, chill out, and take everything with a grain of salt. I'm sure he has people say your music has changed my life it doesn't need speculation.

I saw pat in 2014 at El Corazon in Seattle and the crowd started getting really rowdy. I was in front with two other ladies and the crowd was pushing us into him on stage and i really believe he saw how uncomfortable we were and he stopped playing, and politely asked the crowd to relax because he's not playing music to mosh to. I though that was pretty fucking cool. Love you pat
At 15:12 Pat was able to explain so simply the idea of Kantian philosophy and its more recent extension of hermeneutics - the origin of knowledge is within the person himself and no one can change your life, they can only inspire you to change your own life. I find this quite true when we argue with other people or try to dominate what they think - if they are already believing something else, they would gradually be more interested in what "proves" their own point and the only thing you can do is offer them a different point that they may or may not resonate with. A little bit of unnecessary fascination, yet I find this guy to be as authentic as a person can be. You are an inspiration my friend!

I was obsessed with Taylor Swift from when I was 9 through when I was 14 when I was also listening to My Chemical Romance & Mayday Parade and while I don’t like her new music anymore and am obsessed with Pat’s music, I don’t think I’d still listen to music regularly if I hadn’t had that Taylor. Swift phase in elementary and middle school so damn I love having that in common with my favorite musician.

Taylor Swift is actually a really good artist if you are able to appreciate all types of music, her journey from Country, to country pop, to sraight pop, to trap, to now more indie-folk pop is pretty impressive. I know shes insanely big but musically shes impressive just for being able to go through so many genres. Check out folklork its a great album and much much more mature than her older stuff (which i love too)

I so so so so wish I could tell Pat how much his music helped me throughout the last 10 years. I know he doesn't like to take credit for stuff like that, but that being said, it was just really nice to have music I related to, that made me feel less alone.

I helped build the Tinder Box in Brattleboro and this came up because I just revisited "Love Songs for the Apocalypse". Pat has put a few miles on a couple of my guitars. I miss him always and I'm so grateful to have been there in his earliest days in Harmony parking lot.

I have never soberly felt like I'm tripping before this interview. Pat is the only artist I have ever found that hits certain points of psyche and philosophy that I cannot find elsewhere. It's weirdly motivating, and feels so safe and personal; Like none of the other chaos can possibly adulterate it. Thank you so much, Pat. It's hard to be like that. I appreciate that you still really, truly live it.

I fucking pray that here in 2022 he is still doing good and living happy and peaceful. I’m so glad you guys did this when you did before he stopped making music. I’m so glad he found peace but it’s amazing to have the history here. His music had a massive influence on me. Have his lyrics tattooed on my hands.
It may have always been dormant in me like he said, I was always emotional and thought authority was misused even as a kid. but his music showed me what those feelings really were coming from.

Finding pat has brought me the feeling of being seen for the first time ever, like I’m not alone, and his journey is similar to mine as well. The social anxiety aspect is the cherry on top bc idk anyone who has my level of social anxiety and it seems his is comparable.
Despite how much i want to, I was never gonna meet this guy, being stuck in Australia and everything, and now he's retiring there's even less chance. Which is a real fucking shame, especially after seeing this.

When I first heard his music, my jaw just dropped during the entire album (Volatile Utopian Real Estate Market) cause I wasn’t used to the lyrics. I used to be really into emo music and I got out of it but I still kinda missed the themes after getting into punk. I know there are punk bands that cover those topics but damn, Pat was just another relatable universe altogether

I love the last part of the interview where they go deep in politics and philosophy. Pat's music was what prompted me to get interested in anarchism and radical politics, seeing him talk about these things outside of song lyrics and in a more in-depth way is truly inspiring to me. It's just a shame that there aren't any other video interviews of him, you have to do with what you got I guess. And who knows? Maybe one day he'll come back and will be able to hear what he'll think of the world then but until that, all that I can do is sit back and enjoy the content that this man put out before he retired.

@@feinegrafik some good anarchist reads are Anarchism and Other Essays by Emma Goldman, The Conquest of Bread, With The Peasants of Aragon (talks about a historical anarchist society during the Spanish civil war), and Days of War Nights Of Love.
For things to listen to Thought Slime is a very cool anarchist UA-camr, and Coffee With Comrades is a good podcast (which is also anarchist I think but I could be wrong).

@@feinegrafik On what to read i recomend Alfredo Bonanno's texts such as The Anarchist Tension because it's short, enjoyable and not 100 years old, which is something you dont see a lot in anarchist literature, i personally thought the conquest of bread was pretty boring and out of date but that's just my opinion so you should give it a try nontheless
