    Does 32 Reps and then goes "ok, now let me finish my set"

    Love it, gotta try these. Makes sense to keep tension on the delts like this.

    Lateral rises laying on the ground on one side is 10 times better. Maximum tension at the most elongated position

    • @victorvictor9662
      @victorvictor9662 3 місяці тому

      But this is not the elongated position for the fibers of the midal head.
      A cross body single arm y raise is the only exercice that achieve the stretch (you need to have the upper arm pressed against the plexus for that

    Thank you so much for sharing this amazing exercise with us! It’s truly phenomenal in every way. It’s a great way to emphasize the stretched position. I don’t have access to cable machines and I really wanted to make the bottom position of the lift harder and this exercise does that perfectly. I highly appreciate all the excellent advice and awesome videos. I can’t thank you enough! 🙏

    Good idea. Notice the drop in tension at the bottom when I do normal standing ones. Thanks

    What about doing it with cables? It would make you need to do them slightly in front of you, would that pose an issue of somehow involving less side delt?

    • @tao70
      @tao70 2 місяці тому +1

      I much prefer cables because you can set the fulcrum at the same level as your hand. This means it's the hardest at the bottom and you get an even better stretch.
      Haven't needed to lean in for a brutal stimulus with this setup. Once I got used to having the handle in front of my body I switched to behind the body. Even more brutal.
      As an aside if I do dumbbells I will let it go past my body since the deltoid is more stretched once it crosses the body. A slower eccentric really improves the burn for me as well.

    The first 15 degrees of abduction are not done by the deltoid. They are done by the supraspinatus. So why does the tension there matter?

    • @victorvictor9662
      @victorvictor9662 3 місяці тому +1

      Exactly, to work the medial head fibers in a stretched position, you need powell raises at 45 degree incline or a cross body single arm y raise.

    • @rockyevans1584
      @rockyevans1584 Місяць тому +1

      I feared the supraspinatus was stealing my side delt gains

  • @Dan14833
    @Dan14833 2 місяці тому

    Just use the cable at hand height. Keeps more of the weight in the stretched position.

  • @richardtrass
    @richardtrass 9 місяців тому +3

    Shouldn’t you be controlling (slowing) the eccentric more? You seem to be rushing these compared to current trends of focusing on the stretched part of the movement. But I’m keen to try this. As you say most people suggest lean away which now you mention it makes no sense

  • @berryvolcano3787
    @berryvolcano3787 4 місяці тому +1

    Or... just do a cable lateral raise which is a lot easier to setup and still has a much better resistance profile.

  • @michaelphasey-sharp9457

    Are these the same as laying on bench? And doing lateral raise tension feels very similar when I do them?

  • @ziz971
    @ziz971 8 місяців тому +1

    Good variant. What do you think of side raises lying almost completely sideways on the floor? That way you would have the maximum load in the stretch. And it's also good for stabilization. What do you think about this? Thanks

    I've been doing lateral raises in the scapular plane while lying down on the floor - going up to a 45 degree angle from the floor to maintain a high degree of tension. Wouldn’t that maximize tension when the lateral deltoids are in their most stretched position?

    • @saikoushik5005

  • @supercal333

    Looks awkward. Is there any advantage to doing this over just using cables to get a loaded stretch in the bottom position?

    • @rockyevans1584
      @rockyevans1584 Місяць тому

      Its not awkward at all. This is just to get the db resistance curve to mimic the cable

    I never thought of doing them like that but i have done them like that using a incline bench.
    Question is it ok to go past your body on the bottom of the rep for a stretch?
