Soft Reboot-Reset of the infotainment system in newer VW Atlas, Cross Sport, Tiguan, Taos

- In this video, Brandon Hamberg from Bommarito VW in Hazelwood Missouri briefly shows how to reset or reboot the infotainment system, and allows you to hear the unit come back on inside the dealership showroom. Simply turn the car to on, but not running, then hold the power button for the radio/infotainment unit, for a full 10 seconds, maybe even 13 seconds to complete the restart. Dude this actually helped me so much. The MyVW app had stopped connecting and updating, as a result I couldn't use any of the features like locking my doors and stuff from my phone because the car wasn't connected. Held the button for 10 seconds like you said. And now everything is working again

My info system went off and on four times this morning, and then finally shut off all day. I hit the power button nothing would happen. I found your video did the reset for 10 seconds and I now have everything good as new. Thank you for the video.

Thank you! The infotainment system went black yesterday in my brand new 22 taos. Called the dealership as I only have had the car 3 days. They want me to bring in this morning, however, I'll cancel my appointment and say I fixed it myself. I thought it might be a power off/power on like a computer..just didn't have all the steps in order and timed.

Thanks for the video! My ex girlfriend’s brand new 2022 Tiguan-R keeps having issues with connectivity and she’s only had it a couple to few months but this works every time. Hopefully VW comes out with an update soon to help fix the issue.
Yeah, they do some bug fix updates, tell your ex, to always accept updates that come from the factory.

Like no sound? This just happened to my Tiguan. No sound whatsoever but everything is working. Have had this vehicle for 6 days.
The volume wouldn't work on my 2023 TAOS. It was on "mute" and would allow me to adjust the volume. I even tried to correct the issue from the settings screen and nothing worked until I tried the rest. This seems like a common issue. VW needs to do something about it

I have to do this almost every other day. The XM channels don't always show up and sometimes apple car play doesn't even load up or is not functional. I don't understand why there are so many issues with these infotainment systems - they should really fix this.

Worked on 2022 Tiguan SE ... but why does it freeze up to begin with? Noticed days just previous to it shutting down, that radio presets were really slow to populate.

Hi Brandon....Great Info!! However, how long should it take for the infotainment system to come on...not from a re-boot, from just starting the car on an everyday occurrence. I do have Satellite Radio and I have noticed that it takes about 1 - 2 full minutes to boot up all of my radio stations. And don't try to connect your phone during this time because then it will throw the car out of wack!! But then (thanks to you) all I have to do is do a re-boot! I just don't want to always have to do a re-boot every single day!! Have you heard of this happening? I have a 2021 Atlas Cross Sport R-Line...if that makes a difference.
I have a volkswagen polo 2014 and especially when I turn off the screen, the clock that appears in standy mode does not appear, does anyone know how I can restore this function??
apple CarPlay is seriously messed up in regards to gps. I'm hoping this fixes it. I have read online its the fault of CarPlay utilizing the built in gps of the car and throwing way off. When the phone is not connected gps works just fine.

Does it matter what brand usb cord you use? I feel it might be an issue as it keeps disconnecting when I’m using car play on my iPhone.
I think it does, not always brand but the design of the cords does make a difference I have found.
So, what would you do if this didn't fix the problem? I have had issues over the past month or so where i would plug in my phone to my 2018 Tiguan SEL and everything worked, but the volume was stuck on mute. I disconnected and reconnected the phone and the problem goes away. Suddenly today, when I plug in my iPhone 13 Pro Max, it's just a black screen. I tried the soft reset like you suggested in this video and everything seems to go well (hear the fan kick on and all that), but still comes up with a black screen, but only for CarPlay (media, phone, etc work fine). I just got done updating my iphone to ios 16.02 thinking that may fix it, but no luck. I even went as far as factory resetting my head unit...still nothing. i'm going crazy here!! what else can i try?
Well, disregard. I was able to figure it out. Can't really explain it, but it's happening because of a VPN connection on the phone. As soon as I disconnect the VPN, everything works. turn it back on...black screen again. it's the weirdest thing. It has to be something with iOS 16 though, as the problem started after the update. Just thought I would add this in case it helps someone else in the future.
