Thanks for sharing Peter, your bees are looking good. Here in Central New Hampshire, we are similar with weather, although being inland I think we are a bit colder in winter for a bit longer. It is probably cooler on the coast in summer. It is nice to see your progress as the timing is close to mine. Thanks again and keep on sharing, peace, Brice
Looking promising coming out of winter. How do you store your bee cozies? I have used them this winter because you recommended them and so far all my colonies look great and I really like how the cozy works. I only have 7, you must have hundreds. Just curious how you store all of them. Thanks for the update.
Not yet, but I am delighted at the low consumption rates of hives I have going.... Accept in Italians who have eaten a lot by comparison to my Saskatraz.
Ha Peter your Saskatras bees are doing great, your Saskatras bees are not what or the same as our Saskatras that we get here I wish the SasKatras we get here were great like yours. I had heard they were a great bee the best for every thing I bought a lot of queens and packages for increase in 2020 Peter I treated them for mites I treated every body the same I had carnies as well I lost 17 of the 20 Saskatras colonies I did not lose any carnies I do not buy the Saskatras any more I got my bees from better bee and they in turn got them from California I was not the only person who lost there Saskatras I know beekeepers in West Virginia and Pennsylvania as well and they lost them all. I do not know where u are at Ian in Canada his stock is Saskatras bees as well his bees are great but something is wrong with the bee they are calling Saskatras here. I have 3 hives now that have Saskatras in them but they are not true Saskatras now they are mutts. the hives are coming out of winter nice hoping to breed from them this year sec year of going tru the winter and coming out alive I enjoyed the video and I am very glad your bees are doing good.
I think different races suit different beekeepers as much as different environments. Subtle differences in care will favor one over another. They seem to suit my style!
Oh yea I like the sandwich bags u are using for the pollen patties, I found some on amazon they work great thanks for sharing
Love the rusty lid. Retro rat rod and all.
