Hi Peter, S Ontario here. Similar environment. I too did a second FP treatment. You sir, are my favorite resource. I hope you feel 100% super soon. PS. Demare gave me deeps full of honey that I could give back to weaker hives in brood boxes. So grateful for that lesson. 🙏❤

Gak! Horrors. No queen, at least your mite levels are dropping, will you hit them with formic again or something else, I guess we'll have to stay tuned for the answer. My latest adventure is I did a touch board ( single screen hardware cloth board) combine on the two queenless hives I'm looking at for the two hobbyists single brood management mess I'm trying to straighten out, late winter so I'm a little nervous about a newspaper combine at this time of year but those hives are bottoming out and in both cases the other colony nextdoor is a little too strong already but that's good news for am early split on both. I'll let both raise their own queens with a frame of eggs and requeen them after the thyme honey flow ends in January 👋👍 I'm going to do mite washes on both apairys this week and I'm dreading the results but hopefully it will be alright, one hive hadn't been looked into since early January 😬

I'm battling the same problem of high mite loads this year, I started using OA pads and just started with Apiguard treatments.

I have had no mites for the past 3 years and have never used anything but OA pads and I do 6 OA vaper treatments five days apart beginning Sept 1. it must really get into the peoples profits that keep buying all the different chemicals to kill mites

Hi Peter, thanks for the video. Do you feel taking honey this late in the summer still provides the bees enough time to store enough honey for winter? Are you only taking honey when the upper deep contains adequate honey in addition to what's stored in the medium?

Depends on your flows, we have gone from dearth to strong flow in just a few days, you can not acurately generalize as to when you must stop taking honey off, each location and season are different.

I saw a post on the commercial FB group. They said if the grass wasn't burnt brown from the fumes, then it wasn't strong enough to kill the mites. Whatever you used for a spring treatment, i worked say it isn't working; your numbers are crazy high right now. If you actually had a good mite kill this spring, the numbers should not be 24 after a formic treatment. I believe that your spring treatment was not effective. I think I would try to fix my spring treatment first before I had hundreds of mites to deal with in August. Start the season low, the numbers stay low.

With the supers on the off gas is not strong enough

That is the conclusion I an coming to. In future I will use it before the hives get that big as it only sets back egg laying for a few days,

But than with reduced space you'll burn more bees and have more queen death.. The window of usefulness for formic pro is too narrow to be useful for my operation. @@BeekeepingwithTheBeeWhisperer

Don't they recommend supers on though for formic?🤔

I always thought Formic was +90% effective miticide?? After two applications you are still too high for comfort. There sure isn't a silver bullet out there the way it seems.
