Since recording this video I've gotten to play a LOT of the War Within pre-patch (video tomorrow), it's been great leveling up new characters, and there's clearly a growing excitement in the community; a new expansion is almost here! Of course there is the good and the hype when it comes to the War Within, and there's of course concerns and worries that have been voiced these past several months for the future of WoW. But regardless, I hope that everyone continues to give their feedback to help make the game better and better. Thanks for watching everyone. Here's to what I hope to be will be an amazing new World of Warcraft expansion! Early access to content, behind the scenes videos and more! I’ve fallen off with retail a lot the past few expansion’s the thing is I always enjoy the new zones and quest content but after hitting max level doing the raids and m+ and their new systems I hate how dry it is to play the rep grind bullshit daily bullshit that you have to do on every character is just boring and exhausting. I also didn’t care for the past 3 phases of DF was boring in my opinion I love WoW it’s my main game but I tend to swing towards classic a lot because there’s less bullshit to deal with 😂.
What the fuck... I’ve been listening to Nixxiom for years, but now it’s really starting to show who he is. At this point, it seems like all he wants is to play another Wrath of the Lich King. No shit you don’t care about Xal’atath... You haven’t cared since Deathwing! Hell, you probably haven’t cared about anything that isn’t from Warcraft 3!!! Brother, Nixxiom, darling, wake the fuck up. World of Warcraft has always been about moving on from the previous content. It’s literally their game philosophy... Finish one thing, then move on. And maybe you should move on too, Nixxiom. I’m sick of the same negativity, the same complaints. What’s next? No Tuskarr? No player housing? Leveling is too easy? Just go play Runescape if you want an immersive MMORPG that takes everything slow. Hell, roleplay as a walrus person there if you want.
It is what it is... WoW is always moving on. The one who hasn’t moved on is you. You keep wanting the same thing over and over, and no shit it never happens... Maybe that’s just not what World of Warcraft is, and maybe it never will be. Is that bad? I don’t know, maybe. People have their own opinions. If you ask me, I’m still mad that WoW hasn’t gotten rid of vertical progression. I want horizontal progression like Guild Wars 2, where I don’t have to worry about falling behind when a new expansion comes because my equipment is still useful. But fuck it, you know? Why am I hoping WoW will adopt Guild Wars 2’s progression? I’ll just play Guild Wars 2 instead. As for you, Nixxiom!! You got bored when Wrath of the Lich King Classic came out, and you complained about leveling boosts. Who gives a shit? If you enjoy playing Wrath of the Lich King, just play it! But you didn’t! You moved on~ And that’s good! Maybe you had some kind of cosmic realization that everything you wanted felt hollow when you finally had it in your hands. You’re no longer cool, man. Now you’re starting to sound like an old man reminiscing about the good old days. People don’t want to level up slowly like you do. People don’t want another old, nostalgic MMORPG. Just embrace it. Admit that it’s over, and let’s just have fun.
Matt my dude. Calm down and take a breath. This is a prediction video and has the vibes of a discussion that I would have with a buddy. He’s not making truth claims, he’s airing excitement, hopes, concerns, and disappointments. Everything he brought up are very valid points that deserve to be aired. I know because these things have actually come up in discussions inside of my guild (and we are all super excited for TWW). Your response to this is something I would expect to see on a political video. This is just a game I assume we love. No harm no foul to me, but also not cool to Nixxiom man.
It's not good or bad. It's mediocre. And they are asking a full retail box price with a subscription fee (and microtransactions) to play this mediocre expansion.
As a veteran player: Who's asking for a new class every single expansion? Imagine how bloated the game would be if we got a new class every single expansion. It would not be a good thing What we need is good story and fun gameplay
I could see a new class every 2 or 3 expansions. I’d personally love to see well developed new races that bring something exciting to the table. I remember being STOKED when Draenei, Blood Elves, Worgen, and Goblins got released. Having that same excitement of a race should be every time they release one. Allied races felt really odd except a few.
@@jnicholas846 Well... Movement isn't all that OP in PVE for example. In PVP however, movement is VERY OP. CCs like polymorph are also WAY more overpowered in PVP than PVE. The MAIN reason people want seperate gear for PVP, is because a lot of people used to come in with PVE gear, from mythic raids, etc, and completely nuke everyone else. good PVE players are rewarded with an easy way to kill PVP players, and if PVP gear was good in PVE, PVP players would be able to clear high end PVE content without doing anything but PVP.
I honestly don’t think wow needs anything new like races or classes. They need to put the work on making the game great again. Classes and them park systems won’t do that.
@terrytmoney599 with that logic classic would have failed in 2019 and hardcore would have failed, both were very successful until in the classic cycle they started adding p2w, stop yapping lol
My biggest pet peeve about wow since legion.... No Class Identification. I want my class to play a bigger part of the stories. I play a Pally. I think the Tyrs Hand thing in DF was cool. But I wish the Class Identity trope from legion kept going. I heard Odyn May become a Villain... How cool would it be if Warriors had Quests that show how it leads up to that. Mages.....SPOILER: Dalaran is going to crash, how that effects mages both in the horde and alliance... You know Class Identity is so important to me...Pally? theres Light vs Void... There should be a mobilization of Paladin groups trying to combat the void... ect... there should be a Paladin story there. I hope to gawd that theres more Class identity coming
That’s one thing I do agree with too. More class halls would be great or making them relevant again with more ways to customize them. I’d rather have that than player housing ever tbh
Class halls were the coolest thing they did, you feel more special about the class you play and seeing other classes with their unique gear and mounts. It was an awesome concept, never understood why they got rid of it.
Content creators claiming that people are discouraged by the new expansion feeds into the narrative of other content creators who are saying that people are discouraged by the expansion. The only problem is that content creators don't know all the people who play or who will play the game to seek this affirmation. It's just another biased trend and click bait to generate engagement for your channels while encouraging false narratives based on guesswork and destroying the hype of other people or future new players.
I bought a month sub for WoW and tried out dragonflight and while I enjoy it mostly I couldn't care less about war within. Another Dwarf subrace, wow cool not like we didn't already have dark iron, single player dungeons don't look like anything special, no player housing added, you still can't play as the Tuskarr. I mean why the hell would I buy or play War Within when it just looks lazy as hell. They couldn't even give us a new race and just gave us reskinned dwarves. Perhaps it's not fair to say they are lazy, but Blizzard clearly needs new employees badly, this expansion looks like they've added nothing and it's just another day, just more content, what's the hook? Oh cool I can play a dungeon with an AI companion instead of another player to play with in this MMO, how fresh.
@@punishederic4761not every damn expansion needs new race man tf? I don’t like a bloated mess cause u HD kids needs new toys every damned time. I only care mostly for content and story. And so far the story looks kinda meh to me
I 100% agree. Not every expansion needs a new race, which is exactly why a low-effort dwarf reskin (we already have dark iron) shouldn't be added and dev time should be allocated to making the expansion better and adding something that players actually want. Something like a revamped old world with new quests or player housing, pretty much anything to make the expansion look like well... an expansion. Can't wait for WoW midnight when they add the "NEW" race: Void Goblins and introduce "Dives" a new system for single-player raiding with AI companions.
@@punishederic4761 Sad part is they could prolly have just had 1 art intern crank out the new race on a coffee break since they were already made as one of the main npc races of this expansion. The hardest part is the racials which could also be cranked out in a coffee break for a real dev since they are all so low impact nearing just flavor levels of power anyway. Even though its been memed on delves will be a selling point for next expansion its midnight so meet the dwarf elves!
Xal'atath has been literally setup for multiple expansions. She was a literal weapon in Legion. There has been quite a lot of marketing surrounding her. At this point, if you dont know anything about Xal'atath, youre probably just not interested enough in either the expansion or the story. She's been in multiple expansions. As to the whole divide in playerbase, they either choose to open their own servers or those people will play private servers. Its not like Era players will suddenly start gaming on Retail if they took away those servers. So as long as they are in the 'eco-system' and they're not on private, i doubt blizzard cares. Also how is there not a revamp? Hero talents for 39 different specs, delves and solo follower dungeons for new players, all to get acquainted with classes. How do you have these questions when there has been a ton of information
@@22locor her character has been in-game for 8 years, since the start of Legion. Obviously if you don't play Retail, you won't know that, but to say it's not a fleshed out character is a complete lie.
@@22locor lol u did not seriously compare xala to the jailer. extreme reaching bruv. she has been played up as some sort of old god/void entity since bfa. u would know if u actually played the game...
True, I plan on maybe subscribing for a month or two just to continue where I left off in Dragonflight because it means I won't be feeling like I'm wasting my time when I get loot drops that I can't equip.
ye it is now expansion of warcraft. there is no world. it's crazy these addict keep paying for this old boomer garbage. we're never getting a new mmo thanks to them.
Xal'atath (Not Xal'atash) was also a key figure in a BfA questline that anyone could have engaged with. But your argument about people not knowing the villain seems really weird and can be applied to like, ANY villain we've had. Didn't play Warcraft 3? Good luck knowing who Arthas Menethil was before WotlK. Never played Horde? You won't know much about Sylvannas Windrunner or Garrosh Hellscream. Didn't read up on the lore of Draenor or the old horde? Have fun figuring out who Grommash Hellscream was. I personally think they are starting to do a great job with Xal'atath through cinematics and the Harbinger questline. But I'm 100% on board with more big roided out Tauren and Orc Bad guys
It's the content creator spiral. Negativity = views. On the backend he's getting paid by Blizzard to actually promote TWW. So he's more than likely making a video in 3-7 days telling us how awesome it is.
Not to mention when you log in for pre-patch you get a "so far in the world of warcraft" reel that literally tells you who the harbinger is... His opinion of Xal'atath is such a hot take. She and Iridikron are probably the best slow burning villains WoW has managed to do that haven't relied on WC3... And he things she's bad? lmao
I talk about it in tomorrow's video, but I actually really like the Blizzard storytelling around Xal'atath so far, now that the pre-patch is out. I hope that they continue with those "catch up" cinematics in future expansions and patches; the one that plays as soon as you log into the new patch.
@NixxiomOnUA-cam she talks through the shadow priest legendary weapon in legion. It was played up back then as an old god trapped inside the weapon. When I transmog it now, she still talks to you in game as you kill stuff.
I think Xal'atath has a great design and Blizzard has done a great job at teasing us with her. Unlike the Jailer, they are actually showing her being a puppet master. Her design is really cool and I'm really curious to see where they are going to go with her and I expect her to be the main villain for all three expansions.
Torghast was REALLY cool when it launched, I actually LOVED it and was excited for what it could evolve into. Unfortunately they turned it into a mandatory grind for anyone who wanted to do ANY other content, which nobody likes. Delves seem to be the natural progression of this with the main problem addressed and I'm stoked.
Rather, it wasn't that good early, and it got better after a few updates, which allowed to REALLY go crazy with builds. And the fact people were forced to do it was the issue with it.
I hope they handle expansions differently, not just adding a new place and 10 more levels. I wish they knew how to integrate with the rest of the world more. Especially with adding 10 more levels, they should have sticked to lvl 60 max after the lvl squish. Why do they keep goofing around?
"Just a new place" is unironically every MMORPG release in the history of games. It completely discounts everything in that "place" in an underhanded attempt to downplay the volume of content bring brought to bear there.
Your thing about "Xalatash" is such a hot take. Yes she was exclusive to priests but everyone could do her quest in BFA. And WoW did that cutscene for pre-patch to sum up the story and Xal'atath the only reason you wouldn't know about her is because you clicked escape on the cut scene.
🤣"the only reason you wouldn't know about her is because you clicked escape on the cut scene." Majority of the WoW Base who doesn't care to do storyline stuff, only play Endgame, and wonder who the fuck is this dude/chick boss. Never changes.
@RandoCDN87 if endgame don't care to know the things they are fighting, they don't have the right to bitch and complain that they don't know who they are. 😂
I'm happy that Torghast 2.0 is an alternative to Mythic+. Give us more rewarding, scaling solo challenges. And lots of enemy randomization, even recycle old bosses so people don't stop doing it because it gets boring with not enough enemy variety.
Queen Menethil, Queen Sylvanas, Queen spider and her queen spider daughter, Queen artifact weapon, queen of Zandalari trolls, Queen Jaina and her Queen Mother, Queen of dragonflight, and new frozen dragon Queen who was misunderstood, Queen Anduin, Queen of Gilneas, what the fck? It seems Illidan took all the balls from Azeroth when he flew away with titans
The power of ONE, the power of TWO, they power off MAANNNYYYYYY. Please Blizzard, don't ruin your games by pulling a Disney. They sure are going that direction.
I've been trying to get my wife into the game for YEARS and she always quits almost immediately after starting because of the terrible new player experience. There really does need to be an A Realm Reborn style revamp of the early game.
I quit in Wrath and came back in BFA. I was completely lost. If it hadn't been for my friends that were still playing I probably wouldve quit again out of frustration. Took a while to figure out what areas went with what expansion, what the heck was going on there... They need a specialized storyline for completely new or returning players that summarize the goings on while they play through.
Just to let you know. The new player experience is going through Dragonflight from 10-70 and into TWW. Also if you make a new character there will be a 3 mins cutscenes of everything that has happened since Legion I think. It's not perfect, but it fills in the story and gets you going from Dragonflight into TWW
"There really does need to be an A Realm Reborn style revamp of the early game." Bro what? FF14's new player experience requires you to play through 500 hours of content to get to the newest expansion and actually play the content your friends want to play. The majority of people quit before that, I guarantee you. There's a reason they never tell you how many of their players are on the Free Trial and never actually finish it.
In what sense is ARR great for new players? On one hand you got very old unfun class mechanics, on the other hand you got an overloaded modern MMO with 1 billion things to do. I think simpler MMOs like classic WoW or even New World did way better.
@@VDA19 Yeah, I don't know what he was talking about, lol. The one good thing FFXIV DOES do good, and WoW (used to), was having the new races being unlocked at buying the expansion. If you come back to FFXIV and buy the expansion that introduces the bunny race, you can just make a bunny character from day 1 and enjoy your life. In WoW, with those allied races they make you roll some other race you don't want to play. Figure out how to unlock allied races, do a bunch of complex bullshit that's probably beyond a new player, and only then can you finally unlock the race you really want to play. I miss the early MMO days when they introduced new content that players could explore day one as a newbie. New race. New class? If you wanted, on day 1 of BC you could have made a blood elf paladin. If you wanted. Too much bullshit gets locked between barriers. Like I doubt it, but there should be a delve new players can do at like lvl 1-10 just to explore it. Make a new character. Explore delves.
this will definately be a boring expansion. cant believe that they made something as great as mage tower and then just lost the brain capacity to make something like it again. Stupid devs.
Your complaint about people not knowing Xalatath can be said for almost every big bad we've had (including patches). Illidan, Arthas, Deathwing, Garrosh for Alliance players, the Draenor warchiefs, Archimonde, Kiljaeden, Sargeras, Azshara, etc. Plenty of people had no idea who any of those big bads were, even though they had been a part of Warcraft for some time. I do know the one time they tried to create a big bad that had zero previous connection to any of the story beyond what they wrote for that same expansion was a monumental failure and absolutely reviled to the point that it almost killed the game (the Jailer). I've also heard plenty of people wondering what Xalatath has been up to since BFA (she was more than just an artifact weapon). Can't say I've heard literally anyone asking for a random evil sweaty Tauren big bad in my corner of the internet though. Everything they've done with Xal has been a huge improvement not just over the Jailer, but every previous antagonist. We've seen some of her most critical decisions in-game, and the expansion continues to show her pull the strings. In my opinion, we haven't had a more personal connection to an antagonist since Garrosh (from an in-game perspective, not nostalgia from a different game my Arthas diehards).
I feel like the only ppl that have been unhyped about TWW expac are exclusively content creators. Specifically those that want more then 38 new mini-talent trees that elevate to completely overhaul how you play the game, new zones, 8 new dungeons, 12 delves (a whole new pillar to end game content), a new BG, new raid, 4 revamps of old content for M+, an update to the leveling process (can now get shuffled to DF or do chromie time to 70 for whatever expac you happen to fancy), while also juggling updates and releases for their other game eras, and running multiple pre-release/pre-patch events.
What i would love wow to be is the typical fantasy (what it used to be) Horde vs Alliance. Humans vs orcs. Stormig the castle (Not a massive citadel). Take down a dragon. you know... more like a low fantasy adventure back in Kalimdor or easter Kindgdomes.
maybe they are going the Conan exiles route and the expansion comes in chapters? 2 months after release, "you though this was it?" *Drops massive race/class unlocks for Dracthier and others* etc etc
Xal’atath has been built up since Legion. She STARTED as a weapon in Legion. Then Became a more prominent threat in BFA as apart of the main campaign where you get the Gift of N’zoth. She is then later teased in the Portal with Eridicron and retroactively in season of discovery. She is been there doing things subtlety and now we are seeing her do something overtly. A lot more build up than Eridicron had and he’s liked too. The Jailer was disliked because he changed the narrative and was written poorly. Xal’atath doesn’t do that. She’s well written and a mysterious force which doing stuff in the background.
They aren't even doing minor reworks of all the classes. There are classes with significant gameplay issues that aren't being addressed while there are others that are. If you aren't going to do it during an expansion release, when the heck are you going to do it?
Xalatath isn't an elf woman, although that may be unclear for those who have only seen the marketing. She's some sort of eldritch being, we're not entirely sure what yet but we know she's related to the void and the old gods. We know for certain she is not an elf as she predates their existence. Her or its current form is just a corpse she's using as a host.
I imagine the number of people still playing WoW Classic Era servers is small and Hardcore is even smaller. Season of Discovery will dwindle out before too long. Cataclysm won't be nearly as popular as the previous expansion servers. Retail will probably always be fine in the long term.
The lack of a faction presence is killing the vibes of the Warcraft Franchise for me. Every race, class etc used to have something that defined them and to fight for. It allowed Blizzard to develop interesting characters like Garrosh, Nazgrim, Admiral Taylor, Bolvar, Varian etc. But since there is no more "For the Horde!" or "For the Alliance' even in a rivalry sense where we can start developing new characters things are falling flat. I also hate to think this might be a deliberate corporate decision so that Blizzard can cut costs by no longer having to design quests, stories, cinematics etc. for two factions and instead everyone gets the same slop. As a personal anecdote I don't think I've ever found something more immersion breaking than the Alleria questline at the end of Dragonflight when I was playing on my Blood Elf Paladin who I've had since TBC. My characters head canon is that everything they have done from the moment they spawned in on Sunstrider Isle to begin their adventures was to defend Quel'thalas and the remnants of my people and thus every level gained, ability learned and raid boss slain was for that greater aim. So, now because of Blizzard's lazy writing/lack of a two faction perspective my BE paladin walks into Telogrus Rift, alongside Alleria Windrunner to help out a bunch of Void Elves... you know the group considered by my people to be a bunch of dangerous traitors. My characters genuine reaction in that moment should have been to put a sword in Alleria's face but here we are where for some strange reason and with no explanation I, a champion of the Blood Knights in full regalia, help out a group of void wielding traitors. Yeah, great writing there Blizz. Would have made a lot more sense if Alleria led Alliance characters to hunt Xal'atath and someone on the Horde side like either Thrall or maybe Lillian Voss led Horde characters on that chain.
Without cross faction gameplay, alliance has no raiders. My own "personal anecdote"? Basically everyone i know that currently plays or played in the past 10 years thinks cross faction is a bad idea. For the horde! or for the alliance is something only vanilla boomer room temp IQ andies get hardcore into. coping if you think otherwise tbh. You
In the past few weeks I've talked with quite allot of returning players looking for help with all the new content and systems that have been added. Just from my POV it seems like more returning than I've noticed around prior launches in a long time.
I know three people personally who are coming back to WoW for the War Within. I think people are excited about the World Soul saga. They want to see how this all begins and where it ends up going storywise. At least, that's what I've been told.
@@NixxiomOnUA-camMy take - people are coming back because it feels like the proper end of WOW. The power scaling is at the point where we are potentially fighting literal gods. I think there is a non - zero chance that the world soul saga ends in a hard reset of the world or Wow 2. Blizzard is building out new foundational systems and I’m really curious where this goes and what they have planned. The “world soul saga” is not just a 3 part lore adventure, it’s also a 3-part journey in a reimagining of game design for Wow. TWW feels very foundational to me which is why I think there is a sense of it being underwhelming but, like with a house, it’s what is on top that really matters. I really am excited to embark on this long term plan with them and want to give them the grace to cook before judging.
dont mind not knowing that mutch about Xal'atath, since she is gonna be a "sargeras like" antagonist. someone we know is out there and someone we know is bad but someone we are to weak to fight against. i did not know who sargeras was before i had played this game for atleast 2 xpac, and he is still one of the greatst antagonist ever. we dont need to know them, we need to know they are out there.
I think the most important thing about War Within is that the story is written again by Chris Metzen, you can really see how the characters are well written and interesting again, the whole Gazlowe or Moira Thaurissan thing, I think there is a lot to enjoy there.
I haven't played WoW since BFA, and this new evil goth elf came out of nowhere for me. She is just a character that exists now apparently. Everyone started talking about her once this expansion was announced. The last thing i remember is that the old evil goth elf was teaming up with this jailer dude in the afterlife or whatever. I saw the announcement for Dragonflight. I wasnt interested so i did not play it. Something about dragons using the power of friendship to fight evil guy. Idk i wasnt really keeping up with the lore. But yeah now this lady exists i guess.
I mean, if they kept reusing Arthas forever people would complain too. It's good to let new characters develop and shine. Xal has had four expansions to develop, she didn't just spawn in like the Jailer did.
"Idk i wasnt really keeping up with the lore." Lore in this case would also be the storyline. So you don't keep up with the story, then feel like a character came out of nowhere? Do you not see the issue there? There is a literal catch up cinematic that plays.
WoW needs more evergreen systems. Stuff that transcends every xpac, like housing. Mogs and mounts are what keep most people playing after they complete the current tier raids and M+. We need more systems to farm outside of the usual kill shit and get better stats. DF was the first xpac that I subbed to for the entire duration since LK. I’m sure I will do the same for TWW but I sure hope they have more surprises in store for us in the coming months.
I had a friend that hasn’t played WoW since wrath and has no idea who Zal is. He watched the latest cinematic and thought it was awesome. Now hyped to play.
I hope Blizzard does more Timerunning Events like in this prepatch. It's a really fun way to get a character to cap. I don't know if it's a particularly good new player experience, but it could be with some work.
Nah to be honest if you never raided Stormwind I can see how you wouldn't know who he is as a Horde player. Bolvar was a nobody until Wrath. Even his story was that he was Onyxia's puppet and not the real king.
I played vanilla had heard the name but didnt know who he was...

What I noticed that's an issue for new players: Leveling isn't challenging enough in the early levels while it gets much more complicated in the later levels, in some way it's going to fast. For example when you come leveling from earlier expansions players spend more time having less spells, being weaker without being able to fight many mobs at the same time, they had to learn how to pull etc. now it's so easy that there's not much thought needed but then in later levels it's similar but requires that the player learned to play their class and deal with the environment correctly when it comes to pulling etc. The other big issue that content in older expansions is adjusted with some content cut out or changed in way that's confusing. sometimes players have to look on Wowhead to find information only to discover that there's some change that was undocumented.
Share your opinion! I think you got it perfectly right!! I don't feel an overwhelming call about the start of the expansion! The brotherhood system is incomplete! and they keep adding meaningless things! I personally don't like dwarfs...I'm going to try it but I don't know something I feel like I'm missing!
Coming back to the game to check it out in the prepatch: there is so much that changed and is a bit overwhelming. I can't imagine what it's like for a new player.
i am so glad you brought up the "bad villain" take, thank you. I have never played a shadow priest, i level'd one at some point and found out the channel casts and proc based gameplay was not for me, so i never had any knowledge of this other bad elf lady, so to me who usually loves lore and have watched most of what nobble have on offer and own various books about warcraft, then i just have zero interrest for the new villain. I find her to be a weak character that doesn't have the wow or fear factor that previous villains did. I think blizz fumbled hard with this villain and i hope she is not going to live past the first expansion of the world soul saga but that she is just here to introduce the real villain. I am looking forward to the expansion as a whole i think the underground nature of the expansion will be cool, and then ofc. new raid, dungeons and delves is just amazing as always :)
It's fudged up now. But go farm the Naga invasions in BfA. And do that quest. That's the Xal intro quest for everyone. And it's epic. I do it on all my alts. I love it so much.
Its crazy how entrenched some people still are in the wow mindset. Ive played the game off and on since 2005 but there are some that will just defend this thing no matter what blizzard does.
I actually like Xal'atath as the new villain and the fact that it makes us curious about her motives and plans is a good thing. I also feel like it's a lot better than what we had in Dragonflight or Shadowlands, Dragonflight was great but I was never interested in the story and villains
I think with dragonflight blizzard has really set up a good direction for the game. No one really is talking about how finally we did get rid of borrowed powers that we had to constantly farm up to remain in level with others ??? Dragonflight also did a really good job to make even raid loots to be avaible to no-raiders with the cool token system. Come on guys, i think we should praise a little bit blizzard for these things. It’ s been years since i’ ve felt wow finally a game and not a job. No one is talking about that during the war within campaign we got so much more cutscene that obviusly make more immersive the story. Hero talents ?? Finally some cool class flavour thing that isnt locked behind some shitty farm but its immediately unlocked fully when reached 80. Ok ok, not all the classes got really cool hero talents(like druid or rogue) but they reworked a lot of class and spec talents making them better. I think one of the things blizzard really need to do is to make oldee content somehow relevant today. Making events more often with old raids or a new raid trasmog system or mount farming token like ff14 did. Wow is filled with so much cool content that is so wasted and its a bit of a shame, because after 1/2 mont of a new season the content isnt really fresh and its normal to starting get bored. Making new events with old content i think its a smart move to recycle what we already have and make somehow relevant today. In the end i think blizzard is moving well for the future. With dragonflight started to take more seriously the concept of respecting the people’ s time and the war within will continue on that road off course. Lets give blizz a little bit of faith, because i think they deserve that ( a little )
It's the start of their new story line so I'd assume next 2 expacs after gona be more hype this is basically the building block expac and a prelude to what is actually happening in then future. Dragonflight was kinda just like a in-between expac to fix some of the major issues of the game at a fundamental level. It's also a game that has been out forever so it's gota be hard for them to 1 up themselves constantly when it comes to the hype train expansions.
They should create a mode where we can simulate our own raid with our army of alts that would be fun and when are they adding the necromancer class to the list
Great video! I do think you are dead wrong on Xal'atath, though. Yes, she was a key player for Shadow Priests only in Legion, but she was also *very* important in Battle for Azeroth and was instrumental in the events of Nazjatar and then later the 'defeat' of N'zoth. And the 'previously, on WoW...' style cinematic that came with the prepatch establishes who she is for the people who weren't paying attention quite nicely. She may not be as well established as legacy WC3 characters like Arthas and Illidan were, but she's had at this point many years of development across several WoW expansions. She's plenty recognizable.
Speaking as a veteran, I can say that I have practically seen nothing that excites me. And you're definitely correct about the villain. First time I saw who it was gonna be, I literally went "who?". I miss being excited about the story I guess, I'm probably still gonna level up and test it out, but I definitely have a "meh" attitude right now. I hope I'm wrong, we shall see
Leveling has never been easier, but partially due to how easy/streamlined it is, it’s never been more difficult for new players to get a grasp on the story, lore, and what they are doing any is these quests for.
That last bit you cover here is EXACTLY happening to me in real time. I am new. I did tutorial island (which was not a particularly fun leveling experience). I did bits of BFA until I moved to DF. I completed DF, and I am currently doing some "piss easy" questing. I am not really drawn to dungeons and raids yet. I don't know anyone in-game. So, exactly as you mention, I am having trouble seeing what the fuss is about. I LOVE to log in and cruise around on my mount. I LOVE being inside the game. But when I log in, I don't know what to do. Nothing has really hooked me and made me want to keep coming back. I am hoping TWW changes that. I have not reason to go back in until it drops.
You're absolutely right us silent majority who especially those of us who left DF I left because it got boring really quick, it had no bite and now TWW has no grit, it feels really weak but if we talk about it the andys and shills will attack us and call us cry babies then ok you can play your game live in your echo chamber, we can not come back, no new players will be gained and you have your dwindling population, and you know what will happen SWTOR will happen it would go in maintenance mode for people like you, and you will barely get any content because its not profitable. Evil Tauren would be so cool! It feels we are playing WindrunnerCraft its basically Windrunner family, their story is cool but it can't be the main theme of the game the game isn't about the wind runners...You can tell sales are bad because you look at collectors edition for BFA and SL it sold out within 2 weeks, TWW Collectors edition is still being sold a week before its launch..and its been out for a long time so yeah not really interested in coming back and it doesn't help, that we had the weakest pre patch
I'm really excited about Delves as I absolutely loved doing them in ESO. I doubt we'll ever see as many in WoW and they don't exactly play the same but I'm pretty stoked about doing them. Dragonflight was a solid foundational first step towards turning things around for WoW. I think TWW is going to be a banger.
They need something to progress your character more than just regular gear and tier sets. Something that makes you go out into the world but just put catchup mechanics in place day 1 so there is no crazy "grind" just keep playing and getting stronger but if you take a break dont worry because .....
I like how every addict’s defense for TWW that is bare bones with no new feature is “not every xpac needs a new race or class!” Bro, TWW is getting a new race and it still isn’t bringing in subs. Cope more.
We speculate that all these different versions of WoW has the player base divided. I have a different take. These different versions have brought back players who were NOT playing at all. And I believe, because this happened for me, that when you start to play one version, after a while, you get the bug to play one of the other versions. I personally have settled into harcore classic and retail. Tried SoD, by phase 2, wasn't my thing, and it was so nice to have these other options available to play a game I love. I think sometimes as a player base, we almost expect to much, we're never satisfied...lol You mentioned no new classes for example in War Within. Okay, I'll grant you that...but what class is missing? You know what I mean? I dont want some class added just for the sake of adding a class. DKs made sense, monks made sense. I'm not sure where we would go from there...don't we have all the fantasy classes covered now? Just a few thoughts on all this.
I agree with you about no fan service excitement like "Illidan return or Arthas" but you know what? I prefer they dont spoil such big surprises like these. I kinda got sick of getting leaked and spoiled in beta about major key events. So who knows maybe we will see in the TWW expansion Turalyon turning into Garrosh 2.0 for Alliance side and becoming a light fanatic.
I think the improvement from SL to DF is pretty astounding. They took all the bs from SL out and introduced very enjoyable qol features. Looking forward to TWW
I disagree with new players being bored. Some of the true magic is the world. The old places. The exploring. What Blizz needs to do is make a mode that let's new players level like the old ways. In order of expansion. Give level ups on story segment completion. Like a mop style server thing. But include follower dungeons and follower raids. So by the time they make it to real game. They know why they are a champion.
One pro you forgot is hero talents. Yes we didn’t get a new class but now every class can add a little class fantasy and while yes some are not great there are some that are awesome. As an unholy death knight the feeling of just constantly summoning and getting to ride an undead horse!! I’m super excited and hopeful over time for the classes that didn’t get great hero talents that blizz makes changes.
I think the war within is part of a 3 part renovation project. Essentially modernising their systems to compete with other MMOs. Cause let's face it. Many of wows systems can't support modern features like player housing and dynamic dungeons like D3 has and torgast was meant to have. Cause if not, I think a large portion of the mmo player base will get even more divided once ashes comes out. Wow is thier biggest money maker after their mobile games. I actually think it would hurt them to get left behind as mmos modernise.
If the Harronir happened to be a surprise race to unlock, do you think this will increase the hype? In addition to unlocking the Harronir, would a new class surprise attached to the Harronir also increase this hype? I would like thoughts on this. As for myself, I also played the Beta and I am also not so hyped by what is being presented.
Ive been on and off of wow a few times in a couple years. I have never had a max level character until I came back for MoP remix about a month ago and have been having so much fun. I pre ordered the new expansion and hopefully it isnt to complicated for a new player like me.
Im excited about alot tbh. I also hope i dont lose interest halfway through the first patch which ive done before. But with all the structural changes and evergreen features, I am excited for this to genuinely feel like wow 2.0
After reading through your comment section, the first 10 comments is everyone disagreeing with you nixxiom, I think you need to give blizzard some slack and enjoy the game as it will be in TWW as it’s hopefully going to be a great journey. Stop saying “the player base says we need more” when actually if you look into it, we’re getting really decent class redesign, a new epic story, new end game material and we haven’t even scratched the surface. Dragonflivjt started as “wows dead” expansion, and it turned out to be on what you call a “good expansion”, granted the story wasn’t the best but the key components that make a game great were all there, the fact we are getting that and more in TWW makes us the player base believe it’ll be a great into to the world soul saga
We’re getting 1 race, probably two with the night elf/troll hybrid race. A new end game mode for solo players that isn’t pugging keys or raid finder, and this is the start of a 6ish year story arc. I’m gonna do what I did with Dragonflight, go into it with an open mind, and judge it at the end
Normally I wouldn't do this, but I'm largely overlooking everything related to the expansion, and I still have no idea about the zones and map. I just want to dive in and experience it for myself in a time where everything is readily available.
Seriously listen if you want genuine feedback. I love repetitiveness, I want fantasy interactions in my dungeons with no timer. Delves fixed that. The part I don’t like is external power that’s not my own. Such as the toarghast powers and your OP bronze brans beard guy. I want my new HERO talents to carry me through delves not BUSTED power ups.
xalatath isnt the main villain she's a harbinger for the main villain of the world soul saga some people speculate she resurrects an old god or darkens azeroths world sould turning it into an old god like n'zoth or c'thun but i am excited for the new expansion and interested to figure out xalatath's plans... people mainly had issues with shadowlands story because they assassinated sylvannas's character rather than giving her an interesting villain arch... if she had been the main villain of shadowlands it wouldve been greater recieved
In-game store purchases go towards paying executives at Blizzard and Microsoft (money is fungible but by percentage, the allocation of all money is disproportionately towards the top). I wanna get hyped for the War Within. It does seem like the writing team actually have a plan and that's refreshing. But it's hard to find the hype when even if they nail TWW, the other two parts of the story are not guaranteed. It does seem like Microsoft is strip mining Blizzard based on how their other games are going. I mean, Overwatch 2 is just infested with cheaters. It doesn't seem like they have the staff or institutional knowledge to make good on any promises they make.
Personally I've been pretty happy playing DF and just doing the things that I enjoy. First time in many years that I felt incentivised to acquire gear because it felt like it sticks and isnt just a lottery. Minimum fuss outside of playing raid and M+. Yes it got boring by the end but I moved to collecting tmogs and playing MoP remix. I'd take something small and stable for an expansion rather than everything being shaken to its core without much purpose or thought like they used to do. Personally I'd prefer if rather than developing crazy new features for an expansion, they just put more time into revitalizing the existing game world. Skyriding is enjoyable but the old world is now showing its age more than ever. And gameplay seems to be getting crazy fast paced and all specs are FLOODED with resources. Its not builder spender anymore, its just fighting to keep your resources from overcapping and wasting them. And then there's all the CDR effects. Don't know enjoys this gameplay but I don't.
Thematically, this is the expansion I’ve been least excited about, ever. Gameplay-wise, it’s one one of the ones I’ve been most excited for. I think it has A LOT of potential.
How havin multiple wow platforms / version help the game: 1) Its more stable 2) It has more products to offer, thus more customers and word of mouth 3) More products serve as more marketing for their other products. If I play Classic its easier for me to go try retail. How it doesnt help: 1) The attention of developers can be divided. Better structure and leadership needed. 2) If I play retail I dont necessarily have time and energy to play other stuff Overall net positive I think
Hey Nixxiom what is that weird ass screen that pops up right before my characters with the Horde on the right and the Alliance on the left? Somebody yells and then there is my screen. What the hell is the point of that?

Communication goes back to how it was in the past: class changes come without communication, there's seemingly no balance that would break the meta.
I can agree, nothing really seems exciting about it. The race isn't even cool either unless you're horde. I was hoping the zeppelin we got would be like player housing where our warband would chill.
I'd be honest BiS gear or gear in general is really not a thing anymore, good gear progression with multiple levels (not just leveling) (journey) is way better experience than the gear itself. Fast gearing something every player wanted, but that will backfire if you are not a mythic+ slave, pvp slug, a raid employed or a casual content andy, because before there was a stage gear progression, quest/crafted, dungeon and then raids.
I don't think a revamp of "old Azeroth" will happen until after The Last Titan as these three expansions deal with Azeroth herself. Having three expansions lined up also buys Blizzard time to work on the future in the background. Hopefully there will be a time skip following the end of the Worldsoul Saga and we can explore a newly revamped world, Cata style
There's 13 delves for launch, so we're talking a good variety for something that is inherently limited (for rewards) on a weekly basis. It's certainly better than Legion, BFA, and SL having 8 dungeons for M+ for 2 years. And I think Xal'atath's storyline *is* the fanservice. I'm pretty sure Blizz revealed 3 expansions so they can have a more slow-burn plot rather than failing with another Ny'alotha (which was a response to complaints that Legion was just too green because *everything* was fel, so they didn't want an entire expansion dedicated to a single plotline).

It would not be a good thing
What we need is good story and fun gameplay
I could see a new class every 2 or 3 expansions. I’d personally love to see well developed new races that bring something exciting to the table. I remember being STOKED when Draenei, Blood Elves, Worgen, and Goblins got released. Having that same excitement of a race should be every time they release one. Allied races felt really odd except a few.
İ want vanilla wow style combat at retail
I am a veteran player and I never understood why PVP and PVE have to be separated. Why have we always needed 2 different sets of PVP & PVP Gear.
I don't see why not. Final fantasy xiv gets 2 new classes every expansion
I honestly don’t think wow needs anything new like races or classes. They need to put the work on making the game great again. Classes and them park systems won’t do that.
It's not the game, it's people that changed.
@@terrytmoney599just no.
@klarkolofsson just ya actually, people turned into cry babies 👶 nothings good enough they would rather complain.
We need housing
@@NoobGamer-di1dw same
Class halls were the coolest thing they did, you feel more special about the class you play and seeing other classes with their unique gear and mounts.
He has some good points and on top of that - most content creators now praize TWW. It was the same before release of SL.
She's largely known because of the obsessive marketing. She's about as fleshed out as the Jailer was.
@@22locorcompletely untrue.
@22locor if you genuinely think that then you have zero clue wtf you're talking about
It should also be noted that the warband system is just part of the base game now. you don't even need to buy the expansion to use it.
True, I plan on maybe subscribing for a month or two just to continue where I left off in Dragonflight because it means I won't be feeling like I'm wasting my time when I get loot drops that I can't equip.
I want Blizzard to actually make it a world of Warcraft instead of a new section of Warcraft. There are just too many areas that need an update
This.
ye it is now expansion of warcraft. there is no world. it's crazy these addict keep paying for this old boomer garbage. we're never getting a new mmo thanks to them.
The expansion after this one will be that.
Considering that this is the “underground expansion” I’m incredibly surprised we didn’t get an archaeology revamp
And he things she's bad? lmao
This.
As a shadow priest, she's been talking to me since legion lol.
if they make her the villain for 3 expacs then wow is dead forever
@@pocketdealseu because all of the villain-of-the-week one offs have been soooooo good and not at all boring and underdeveloped.
Deff a Biden voter.
Correction, DBM auto hit escape for him 😂
@RandoCDN87 if endgame don't care to know the things they are fighting, they don't have the right to bitch and complain that they don't know who they are. 😂
I'm happy that Torghast 2.0 is an alternative to Mythic+. Give us more rewarding, scaling solo challenges. And lots of enemy randomization, even recycle old bosses so people don't stop doing it because it gets boring with not enough enemy variety.
Isn't it more like Mage Tower 3.0?
New races/classes aren’t enough to carry an entire expansion. The content that they are adding can do just that.
Alleria = Illidan. Xallatath = guldan
"There really does need to be an A Realm Reborn style revamp of the early game."
Bro what?
Look forward to seeing you in azeroth. 😂
@@theroguearceus2869 yeah probably, shits addicting
Bro did not even mention hero talents which is a huge part of the expansion
Kinda weird that this wasn't mentioned at all, probably one of the biggest selling points of the xpac.
They’ve reworked like 8 classes in the beta i swear you people are fucking idiots
I barely pay attention to the lore, but I know plenty about Xal'atath. They've been building her up for several expansions.
Retail is the biggest garbage mess I’ve seen its not even warcraft at this point
You
You are spot on honestly. I also think its more of a cost cutting measure.
Nobody gives a fuck about the faction conflict anymore.
In the past few weeks I've talked with quite allot of returning players looking for help with all the new content and systems that have been added. Just from my POV it seems like more returning than I've noticed around prior launches in a long time.
Yeah was about to say, im seeing so many people online past month its crazy.
@@NixxiomOnUA-cam M+ gonna be a disaster though, pugging with so many new player/returners will be rough
dont mind not knowing that mutch about Xal'atath, since she is gonna be a "sargeras like" antagonist. someone we know is out there and someone we know is bad but someone we are to weak to fight against. i did not know who sargeras was before i had played this game for atleast 2 xpac, and he is still one of the greatst antagonist ever. we dont need to know them, we need to know they are out there.
Xal has had four expansions to develop, she didn't just spawn in like the Jailer did.
how did u play in bfa and not notice xalatath xd? shes been around since bfa and had a lot more development throughout dragonflight
"Idk i wasnt really keeping up with the lore." Lore in this case would also be the storyline. So you don't keep up with the story, then feel like a character came out of nowhere? Do you not see the issue there? There is a literal catch up cinematic that plays.
But what happens once the World Soul saga ends and in theory we hit level 100... reset time?
WoW 2. Metzen said he couldnt announce what he wanted in blizzcon.
He forgot to mention delves aren’t just Single player . Also to the villain point you can’t keep just relying on WC3 to carry your villains .
Classic, TBC, Wrath, Mop, Legion and DF are the best so far.
I had a friend that hasn’t played WoW since wrath and has no idea who Zal is. He watched the latest cinematic and thought it was awesome. Now hyped to play.
Exactly, she is pure entertainment regardless of if you know about the blade etc from BFA. Everyone likes a hot elf.
They like to put Thrall in the posters but he will at most get a questline 3 patches from now😂😂
Housing in the new Guild Wars 2 expansion looks 🔥
I hope Blizzard does more Timerunning Events like in this prepatch. It's a really fun way to get a character to cap. I don't know if it's a particularly good new player experience, but it could be with some work.
shaman making players shop organic almost made me shoot coffee out my nose lol
There is no way you played in vanilla even as horde and you did not know who Bolvar was????
I'm a new player [2 weeks] and I've already created an army of Vulperas in MoP remix to test out the classes
I'm seeing some good changes like the heroic talents and warband account wide unlocks are at the right direction
I'm kind of cautiously optimistic
Thanks for the video Nixxiom. War within has been the only expansion I have not pre-ordered. As you suggested I’m just feeling ‘meh’ about it.
I hope I'm wrong, we shall see
I am biased on this due to having been maining a shadow priest during legion, but I am excited to see her coming back
Leveling has never been easier, but partially due to how easy/streamlined it is, it’s never been more difficult for new players to get a grasp on the story, lore, and what they are doing any is these quests for.
I think new players looking up Nobbel87 videos to find out who Xal'atath is is actually very nice traffic for Nobbel. :)
I liked Torghast.
But like any content, I hated being forced to repeatedly do it for rewards. If I only had to do it once a week I would not mind.
Around december I expect videos titled: What went wrong with The War Within 😅
That's being hopeful. I think that we will see videos like that in a month.

I think sometimes as a player base, we almost expect to much, we're never satisfied...lol
You mentioned no new classes for example in War Within.
They know why they are a champion.
then basically you don't disagree.
Hey brother is that right the war within going to be the last patch of wow ? Best regards
I’d rather hear from someone I disagree with. New perspective and all of that. Its how you don’t end up watching CNN 24/7

They're adding a new battleground and a solo q rated battle ground. Some of you lore masters should check it out!
Missed me with this one. Most hyped I've been for an expansion in a while. To each their own.
I think after this expansion they should really redo all the zones and make WoW 2
Thematically, this is the expansion I’ve been least excited about, ever.
Gameplay-wise, it’s one one of the ones I’ve been most excited for.
I think it has A LOT of potential.
How havin multiple wow platforms / version help the game:
1) Its more stable
2) It has more products to offer, thus more customers and word of mouth
3) More products serve as more marketing for their other products. If I play Classic its easier for me to go try retail.
How it doesnt help:
1) The attention of developers can be divided. Better structure and leadership needed.
2) If I play retail I dont necessarily have time and energy to play other stuff
Overall net positive I think
I agree with your early game take. I hate the whole, “the game begins at max level” take.
Blizzard is just lame, all the cool shit they could do, and the big feature of the expansion is quality of life updates...
