Everyone makes honest mistakes, and like you said, it hopefully helps remind others so they don't make the same mistake. Loved it! Keep up the GREAT work, and am TOTALLY Subscribing!! Jon I'm jealous, I'd love to spend time in Japan to do at least one home, Refurbish it to give back to the community. I really enjoy the time I get to spend there I wish I could travel the country and just see more. It's so beautiful; I love the traditional architect and the countryside outside Tokyo. I never conceder myself a teacher but If by guiding and trying to show how to do a few things help the viewer I will humbly accept. Remember a novice is just the beginning. We all start some where. Cool build. The only thing I would have done different would be to have used a 2x10 for the bottom board that sits on the wall so you could have kicked out that corner to make it square. Great build though!

    • @TheShackHome
      @TheShackHome  7 років тому +5

      Brian Swanke I considered many different options but he did not want any type of a ledge just something to block the wind and keep out rain when and if it ever does rain. I just can't believe whoever built that little wall did such a poor job. Even though the difference in money would not have been that much it's what he wanted and I have done quite a bit of work for him so I tend to cater to what he wants within reason. Thank you Brian for viewing and believe me I even was considering making that a mantle style Around the whole ledge to really make it nice but again money and he didn't want to go that much

    nice video...thanks for showing us the mistakes and flaws that come with building....just a question...why do the blinds over hang on the outside, is there a reason and can you line them flush ? i realise you made this 6 years ago but thankyou.

    • @TheShackHome
      @TheShackHome  Рік тому

      Dave R The customer just wanted something to shade and lessen the wind on his patio where he has a full outdoor kitchen. so I let them over hang a bit for rain to drip down and not splash in side. also why they don't move just something to cut down on the wind but still allowed air flow for ventilation.

    sir why 40 degree angle?? i want an angle that keeps the rain put but lets enough light and air in. have you found 40 degrees worked grest for you?? thanks in advance

    • @TheShackHome
      @TheShackHome  10 місяців тому

      40° isn’t the perfect angle it’s just what worked for this project. Having them overlap, a little, helped prevent any rain from coming in if it was to rain with a little bit of a breeze. still allowed airflow because he used that patio area for cooking for his catering business and still allowed some sunlight in. mainly keep rain out and keep the wind to a minimum because it does get windy in his area

    • @DivineDestiny44556

      thanks for getting back, i need it for something similar; seating area for outside a cafe, need light and air to breeze through but keep rain out.

  • @boashna
    @boashna 4 роки тому

    I had a renter do this with standard blinds and he cut the airflow so mush that ceiling started mildewing . I think we need to use all or none methode . .either you do not let moister in by sealing it or
    you make sure thee is so much airflow that it will dry right away..
