Historically they were 1/2 round 1/4" staples and all were attached before assembly took place. I have been a wood worker since the 60s and have yet to see the antique machine that did that as all those old staples had no stop marks. I understand how they originally cut the louv3ers with 2 dowel ends and a machine set that center staple to a prescribed depth but how that rod was attached is beyond me. I am restoring some 8" wide by 27" long shutters and some are missing that pin. It takes me up to 1/2 hr or more to make a staple and try and install it with all the others in place. Every time I do it I invent new curse words! Tkx for the helpful video!
i love how thorough and simplistic he is with this
Simplistic does not mean what you think it means.

Hi Mark
I live in the UK for a start. I am making bay window shutters they are the cafe type if you know what that is.( The shorter ones that don`t go to the top of the window.) These will be the second ones I am making. The first ones are on my bedroom windows. The problem I found was the eyelets I used keep breaking they are very small and made of brass. Could you please tell me where I can get the ones you are using, I mean the non pull out ones. They are unobtainable here.( a spring company just quoted me £300.00 to make them.) I hope you see this soon as I want to start making them.
Thank you and kind regards
Colin Bruce

hello knows the supplier where i can get the materials here in inuted kingdom? thanks
Hi, great vid. What prevents the Louvres from flapping down when in open position? I was going to use dowels as the pivot pins. Am I better off using these plastic pins? Tension pins or standard?
Very nice

Awesome tutorial, what do you call the small clips that you use, thanks
Did you ever get the name of those pins?
@@jasonl8326 same, would like to find those pins
great videos.but i got confused after watching both videos about which way up they should be and how they should naturally fall to either closed or open and how they stay open or shut just by their own inertia or lack of.
i live in england and we dont have too many plantation style shutters around for me to look at and answer this question myself and feel abit embarassed about asking a silly question for which the answer is obvious.in england we have a saying 'every day is a schoolday.
thanks, john.
I faced this issue when I made these. If your main purpose is to block the sun and to insure privacy, you want the outside to be the "slanting-down" side (this is because the overlap totally blocks the sun in this configuration). This, however, is the opposite of what most people would prefer because the inside ends up looking a bit odd. If the sun-blocking effect isn't super important and you don't think people will peer "down" into your home, it will look nicer from the inside if you set the slanting-up side towards the outside. Hope this belated comment helps :)
Tie bar is what they are called in metal fsd and vcd (firedampers and volume controls dampers.)

Hello , tell me how to do wooden comb to bookshelves
An other solution is to use mechanical pins for the moving bar of louvers, even for the louvers. Making a slot on the axis of the moving bar to keep them hide and twisting the pins to secure them.
Could control arm not be string
From where did I get those pin..I'm from india ,kerala
A need know if you sell staples for arm control lime you on video#2
you can make those yourself with some wire working pliers and a little patience.
I can not see that control arm keeping the shutter open after a little use!

Why not offset the control arm to the very edge of the Shutter? Why have it right in the middle?
How Do you make your louvers?
Nice result. They are expensive to buy.

English Mik.
Here’s your louver blind sir that would be 100 for the material and 5000 for labor.
My wife’s hands are bigger than mine . So she says . Lol
why they charge so much for what is just a frame
I found clips here: www.rockler.com/shutter-control-arm-fastener
You should visit woodprix website if you would like to make it by yourself I think.
You can use woodprix to build it in the cheapest way.
Hi Marc
Sorry I spelt your name with a "k"
Colin
Kolin,
I think Marc retired. He was doing this in semi retirement 10 years ago when he was 62. Call the tel number they list on their website.
That is why my company buys them wholesale.lol. Even wholesale pricing is going way up that is why I am trolling the ideal of manufacturing equipment.
Wholesaler here! Let me know if intrested.
