I meant "every other" as 1 in 2. And I'm not stereotyping heterosexual men, I'm generalising lyrical subjects of an entire genre, because let's face it, so much of modern rap and particularly trap, which is huge nowadays, is 80% pretty much drugs and hoes and money 24/7.
May I politely ask who was dialed 911 on their telephone and reported to the federal law enforcement a crime that my African American friends have committed
I wish to pose an enquiry as to which individual it was that made contact with the constabulary, be it via some remote communications device (e.g. the emergency calls service available on telephone, be it cellular or otherwise) or simply in addressing members of the appropriate authorities directly and in person, in order to share with them strictly confidential information regarding the illicit exploits of my friends and kin of Afro-Caribbean persuasion. Said individual will be the one that I work to make "disappear" (a coded euphemism which I use to signal my intention to act such that this individual sustains fatal injury) before all others, the first round of ammunition that I discharge from my firearm.
I think the album title SATURATION explains how the tracks on this progress from agressive to softer. They started from dark colors and track after track its shades gets grayer and grayer until it becomes light. It started-off agressive af and in the end we get the chillest vibe. Love this album. Just cause he was a little shocked to that line by Kevin doesn't mean he's a homophobe. It was a little outta nowhere even for me, considering I do like the same sex. I don't think Shawn worded it properly. Also I really loved this album
Do heterosexual people need "to lead people into that less aggressively" too or was it just a homophobic comment...? With all the overly sexual shit lyrics we hear these days in mainstream music and hip hop, I don't see what else could be motivating you to calling him out like that on what he should and should not say regarding his sexual life. I'm disappointed man...
Catherine pelletier The problem with society today is they are too sensitive a comment of preference. A genre FILLED with nothing but straight artists for an artist to drop "I just gave my nigga head" was a SURPRISE. So my comment wasn't in reference to his sexual orientation, it was to his comment. Learn how to interpret context please
It's not a question of interpreting a context; I get your point, I guess I just disagree that because a scene or society at large is filled with a certain type of person (and consequently with stigmatas toward people outside of what is normalized) that people with a different way of life should be careful not to "surprise" the majority with what they say or do. We need more people like Kevin Abstract and Frank Ocean that are not afraid to speak their truth especially in a genre that's undeniably mostly straight as you said. Anyway, that's just my opinion.
if you like the project you gotta check out American Boyfriend by Kevin Abstract. It's an album about his struggles with being bi in high school. his parents didnt even know he was gay until he dropped the first single for it, which is pretty gay. the album had me crying like a bitch its a lot like frank
HAMEED Ziabari What's with gay/bi black men making extremely emotionally raw and powerful albums. I haven't heard American Boyfriend but Empty fucked me up.
I love how you take time in your life to listen to our own generations music :D Means a lot to me especially because I'm a young BH fan. 11 years old I been loving them for 2 years
I'm sure you're tired of hearing this by now but I think it's ridiculous that you need a warning that one of the members is gay? That's what's so cool about this album- it's a breath of fresh air and pushes the boundaries of hip hop music. Why do you want things to stay the same lmao. You're literally against progress.
Being suprised into saying something that can be interpreted as homophobic doesn't make it an excuse? If anything it's more reason to apaologize for how it came off, and move on.
Colby S It’s because he didn’t think it was serious, you can tell shawn didn’t think it was serious, and what he said wasn’t serious either. plus that lyric was a little jarring for people who didn’t know he was gay. it’s not like Shawn is homophobic, he’s understanding and better than that.
out these brockhampton fans are a bit crazy at the moment. Surprised by an unexpected gay line on a hip hop album equals you are "literally against progress".
Colby S Shawn did indeed say some dumb shit. He said dumb shit that apparently offends a fair bit of people. The reason he said dumb shit though wasn't because he is homophobic it was a poor reaction to a surprise. The original comment's interpretation that Sean is literally against progress is bewildering. Frankly when I first heard junky I had a pretty extreme reaction too I didn't say that dumb shit but I rewinder it a couple times because I thought I heard wrong. That doesn't make me homophobic dude. The original comment extrapolated intent to a ludicrous degree which I believe is simply false.
Has anyone developed a theory as to what the narrative of the album is? In one of the skits, Roberto says he's dead, and Kevin said on Twitter that the album is Roberto's story.
I had the same reaction to Young Thugs line about going down on a girl in my Beautiful Thugger Girls Review, you literally know nothing, 10/10 sensitivity, great job.
so they are named, but it is kinda low-key. there's a lot but heres a few i remember off the top of my head: Matt Champion, Ameer Vann, Joba (dont know how to spell it but i hope thats ok), Merlin, Bearface, Dom, Roberto ofc and yea theres more but thats most of what i remember
"Maybe lead us into that" wooooow So it's fine to talk about straight sex in nearly every Brockhampton song but Kevin can't throw in one or two lyrics about being gay. Open your mind, man.
For someone saying open you mind, that's such a close minded statement. I don't want to hear about someone giving their homie head because that's abnormal to me. I couldn't give two shits that he's gay, but dont come at me with that "giving my homie head" shit, not my thing, won't ever be.
Fools Crown and that’s exactly how every gay person feels about when someone sings about straight sex, it’s a huge double standard. Amy wasn’t being close minded at all

@@foolscrown1416 "I don't care if you're gay as long as you don't tell me about it". Yikes dude, it's a line in a song. Which is exactly what it is.
the funny part about him talking about the production and how it's "good to receive help from outside", is the fact that this was all produced in house lmao
The members do have names, I can't blame you for not knowing, I wouldn't have known either if I hadn't seen it on Reddit but there's Ameer Vann (the guy on Heat with the first verse Matt Champion (the first verse on Gold) Dom McLennon (the first verse on Star) Merlyn Wood (the mumble rap type guy that shows up on occasion) Kevin Abstract (Does Gold's hook) Joba (he's heard singing at the end of Gold and the hook on Face) and Bearface (he's singing on Waste) there's also a lot of producers who's names I don't know that are affiliated with Brockhampton. Dope video Shawn, I love your reactions!
I understand he was surprised, he kinda just handled it awkwardly. it's fine to go 'oh i didn't know he was gay, that caught me by surprise' but he kinda just kept rambling on about it and said some weird stuff. it's kinda like when people say 'awkward silence' and it just makes it more awkward. he definitely wasn't homophobic though.
@@fabian268 What's the joke then? Explain it to me. Is the joke that he's saying something homophobic when he's actually not? Because that's barely a joke. It's like if a white comedian said he hated black people then said it was "just a joke". Where's the punch line?
I think that you should listen to American Boyfriend by Kevin. It came out late last year and I think that it will give you more of an idea of who Kevin is and his goals with BH and himself, also it will make an interesting video to watch.
People are saying Shawn is homophobic but he’s shown time and again that Frank Ocean is one of his favourite artists and he appreciates the music even though Frank is openly bisexual. Shawn was just thrown off by the line in STAR because he had never taken a deep dive into Kevin Abstract or Brockhampton in general. He even says that at the beginning of the video. Saying it should be removed from the song isn’t right, but it’s understandable that he was so thrown off. Which is kind of the point of the line, but it’s not an immediate sign of being homophobic. Imagine if all of a sudden one of your friends said something like that mid conversation and you didn’t know they were gay. It would probably throw you off pretty hard wouldn’t it? Quit being so sensitive. People can have opinions.
I don’t understand why people called Shawn “homophobic” in the comments for his reaction to STAR. Any straight man would be surprised, maybe even put off momentarily, by the sudden bluntness of Kevin’s line. Typically one would be used to hearing someone confirm their sexuality in a less abrasive manner, like Shawn said. Not because he’s against gays, it’s just not normal for gays to be so blunt, and I commend Kevin for trying to change that. I acted the same way when I first heard this song, but now I think it’s hilarious and low key the highlight of the song.
I may be wrong but my interpretation of BUMP is that when the they are going in and the beat is going hard that's sort of the peak of the high while on cocaine and when it mellows out to "And when this endsss at least I have a reason to liveee" is kinda referencing the come down of said high. Idk let me know what you guys think :)

DarklordofDOOM57 "every other rapper in history" now you're stereotyping heterosexual men, nice.
Lmaoo
This album is incredible
Kevin is gay
HUEY so?
Had me thinking this was Yondu's mixtape
Pineapple Man I thought of Yondu when I saw the album cover
ok im not the only one lol
I think the album title SATURATION explains how the tracks on this progress from agressive to softer. They started from dark colors and track after track its shades gets grayer and grayer until it becomes light. It started-off agressive af and in the end we get the chillest vibe. Love this album.
Great review btw.
Ayoo react to kevin abstract's album american boyfriend
THE SMACK SHOW (ROPE209) FUCK YES
THE SMACK SHOW (ROPE209) does it go hard? or is it like a chill album
its chill. picture stuff like waste with guitars and singing really moody teen songs. But some songs go kinda hard like blink
Young sinatra honestly it's both
lmfao you think he'd be able to handle the mentions of being gay he'd have an aneurysm lmfao
BROCKHAMPTON INVENTED BOY BANDS
JacuZ no that's the Beatles
The Flagged UA-camr II woooosh
The Flagged UA-camr II who?
Nah One Direction did
BROCKHAMPTON ivnented music...smh get it right
Fam react to the album CLPPNG by clipping. I've seen soooo many requests for it lol
I second that
MCMF yes yes yes yes yes
Or their last album
freaksouly that's an amazing album but CLPPNG is a way better entry point
YES LORD I'VE ASKED ON LIKE 8 SEPARATE VIDS
I'm so sad Lamb didn't make the cut... what a lovely song.
Lustrigia it's for the next album getting released for the summer :)
Sunny Edward I'm hoping Cannon makes it on an album. I need people to hear that it's my song of the year.
Shawn I like you but what you said is homophobic. If somebody White said something racist and they said it's not racist does it make it not racist? It's still homophobic but you learned. Moving on
Merlyn is my favorite member. I love how fucking crazy he is on these songs and the energy he brings is astounding. Gets me hyped up
Hey bro you should check out/review Smino- Blkswn it's a highly slept on project that I think you'd enjoy.
Thumbs this up if you agree!
Donny Banks YES SMINO YES
Donny Banks YES FUCK YES
i approve so much
FUCK YEAH!!!
I like how everyone is thrown off by the head line and Shawn. Like, calm down, he didn’t expect it.
Plus, STAR is one of his favorite songs on here. CALM DOWN PEOPLE.
10:40 *dom openly admits that he cuts himself*
Shawn: *i l i k e t h a t*
love this album through and through. 9/10 for me personally. the outro on milk had me damn near crying and the way it transitioned into face was gorgeous too. the outro had a really nice frank ocean vibe (probably because Kevin loves Frank and is a huge fan) i thought the bangers were some of the best i have heard all year. gold and bump specifically just destroy all the expectations i had about this group. outstanding production. bars on bars. good messages. listen to this album! and if you haven't please check out kevin abstracts american boyfriend project too ao you have a deeper understanding of him. shoutout to jabari, robert, romil, kiko, dom, hk, and everyone els that I'm missing. pat yourselves on the back amd make more fantastic music.
IS BIG QUINT YOUR FATHER?!?
All of the singles were straight bangers!
N.J. Yeah, I liked the other songs too but after listening to all of the others individually I think that they mostly only work together
N.J. gay bangers
Your ability to comprehend songs, and convey your thoughts so eloquently RIGHT after hearing them is really impressive, and it separates you from other "reaction/review" channels. Thanks for the content bro.
Catherine pelletier Dude literally has tons of videos on frank ocean. Do some research before you leave such an idiotic comment
Catherine pelletier No, you didn't understand my point and tried to accuse me of homophobia.
Shawn Cee i love your channel, but u gotta be less defensive and take criticism easier man
Another fun fact: Brockhampton is named after a street in Kevin's hometown. The name of the street that we went to middle school on
if you like the project you gotta check out American Boyfriend by Kevin Abstract.
And I love Frank.
Existential Crisis wait until you get to runner
Existential Crisis It's hard to be a gay/bi black man.
I love how you take time in your life to listen to our own generations music :D Means a lot to me especially because I'm a young BH fan. 11 years old I been loving them for 2 years
lowkey AOTY
themasterassassian year ain't over yet...
themasterassassian nah but it was pretty good
themasterassassian they're dropping another one this year
Nah it's blkswn by smino
Not even lowkey, it is AOTY for sure
I'm sure you're tired of hearing this by now but I think it's ridiculous that you need a warning that one of the members is gay? That's what's so cool about this album- it's a breath of fresh air and pushes the boundaries of hip hop music. Why do you want things to stay the same lmao. You're literally against progress.
He was surprised. Nothing else.
Yo I had the same reaction as you when he was like "I just gave my nigga head" lmao I had to stop and made sure I heard that right 😂😂😂😂
Holy shit these guys are like Injury Reserve just not as aggressive and better production both super dope
Has anyone developed a theory as to what the narrative of the album is? In one of the skits, Roberto says he's dead, and Kevin said on Twitter that the album is Roberto's story.
he said on twitter that the whole story is that roberto wants to kill himself and then he deleted it
rachel boone wait really omg
I understand this is just his first initial reaction, but he came across a bit homophobic
shoutout jabari, romil, and kiko on the production tho
Love how you told Kevin to go less aggressively on his verse in star but didn't think twice about ameer's verse in gold. 10/10
Homophobia 👏 great job
I had the same reaction to Young Thugs line about going down on a girl in my Beautiful Thugger Girls Review, you literally know nothing, 10/10 sensitivity, great job.
so you just don't like anything sexual in your music lol
so they are named, but it is kinda low-key. there's a lot but heres a few i remember off the top of my head: Matt Champion, Ameer Vann, Joba (dont know how to spell it but i hope thats ok), Merlin, Bearface, Dom, Roberto ofc and yea theres more but thats most of what i remember
"Maybe lead us into that" wooooow
So it's fine to talk about straight sex in nearly every Brockhampton song but Kevin can't throw in one or two lyrics about being gay.
Amy wasn’t being close minded at all
@@foolscrown1416 brockhampton didnt make the song for your dumbass
@@callumjohnston35 and that's perfectly fine, but i wont pretend like i'm a fan of the content, it is what it is at the end of the day. it's not my thing, and i'll let people enjoy their own thing, that's just how it works.
@@foolscrown1416 "I don't care if you're gay as long as you don't tell me about it". Yikes dude, it's a line in a song. If something like that really "takes you out of it" or whatever, then yes, you need to be more open minded. What's stopping you from seeing it as a witty reference to a movie? Which is exactly what it is.
Ameer vann really got the bars tho
Ameer Vann
Merlyn Wood
Matt Champion
Dom McLennon
bearface
Joba
members of BH that appear on this tape
HD FACTORY what about kevin lmao also the producers romil, jabari and kiko
HD FACTORY L
Listened to it the first time a few days ago and it's now one of my favorite albums of all time
you can find out the members name online if you look for them
the funny part about him talking about the production and how it's "good to receive help from outside", is the fact that this was all produced in house lmao
I like my own comment to get it started.
I'm gonna agree with you on 2pac. Loved the track but naming it 2pac made no sense.
Honestly some of Ameers verse are actually scary, I swear he is admitting too doing what dom talked about on dearly departed
The members do have names, I can't blame you for not knowing, I wouldn't have known either if I hadn't seen it on Reddit but there's
Ameer Vann (the guy on Heat with the first verse
Matt Champion (the first verse on Gold)
Dom McLennon (the first verse on Star)
Merlyn Wood (the mumble rap type guy that shows up on occasion)
Kevin Abstract (Does Gold's hook)
Joba (he's heard singing at the end of Gold and the hook on Face)
and Bearface (he's singing on Waste)
there's also a lot of producers who's names I don't know that are affiliated with Brockhampton. Dope video Shawn, I love your reactions!
I would love to hear him listen to the genius Krizz Kaliko .
I think either 'Kickin' & Screaming '
or 'Vitiligo' Is a great place to start
Roberto is a crucial part of BROCKHAMPTON. Keep the skits lol
Saturation is Album of the Year for me!!!
glitter boy yea for me it's either DAMN. or this
glitter boy issa great album but calm down, 2017 ain't over yet
Elevate With The Sauce damn ain't that good, chill you hypebeast
JoshTheGreat33 liking DAMN. doesn't make you a hype beast, and it very well has a chance to be album of the year.
Flower boy is mine
You're all overreacting, Shawn was just surprised because he didn't know Kevin was gay.
Llewen Garcia fr bruh people need to chill
I understand he was surprised, he kinda just handled it awkwardly. it's fine to go 'oh i didn't know he was gay, that caught me by surprise' but he kinda just kept rambling on about it and said some weird stuff. it's kinda like when people say 'awkward silence' and it just makes it more awkward. he definitely wasn't homophobic though.
@@MiguelLopez-fs3ll how was it homophobic? He didnt call for death of the gays or anything... he was just caught off guard
Thank you. He Never heard his music. So what do you expect when you get hit with “I just gave my nigga head” on a rap song?
I J U S T G A V E M Y N I 🅱 🅱 A H E A D
why y'all care shawn ain't know they was gay lol
only kevin. .
Because he followed it with "I don't like this, I'm gonna cut it out"
ActuallyIan and then he didn't because it was a joke
Hunka Hunka yeah he cut out the line about shawn mendes instead because he didnt like that ^__^
@@fabian268 What's the joke then? Explain it to me. Is the joke that he's saying something homophobic when he's actually not? Because that's barely a joke. It's like if a white comedian said he hated black people then said it was "just a joke". Where's the punch line?
This is a classic album. Already gives me nostalgia
Holy same with me bro just amazing piece of work
watch the music video of empty by Kevin Abstract (which basically reveals his sexuality that he's gay)
I think that you should listen to American Boyfriend by Kevin. It came out late last year and I think that it will give you more of an idea of who Kevin is and his goals with BH and himself, also it will make an interesting video to watch.
Ameer and Champion are my favorite members but Merlyn the son of Danny Brown.....My boi
THIS IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE FUCKING ALBUM OF THE YEAR, NO FUCKING CONTEST
Fun game to play: take a shot everytime he says production
when he says matt champion sounds like Mac miller i FELT THAT like goddamn u needed to say that LOUDER
listen to The Impossible Kid by Aesop Rock, I feel like you would like it.
MRinPhamouz Great album.
MRinPhamouz hell yes
AGREED
He should start off with a earlier project by Aesop
Kinda agree, but imo The Impossible Kid is his most accessible project to date.
They have a new album coming out soon ( I think next month or so) and the skits will apparently make more sense when the new album comes out.
9 months ago you could tell people about brockhamptons origins and youd be cool but now if you do it you look like the biggest hipster
Shawn: I don't really know this group and they're kind of indie
Shawn five minutes later: *mouthing the words*
It was the chorus which already repeated a couple times bro
Shawn thinks everything about Kevin is aggressive lmao xD
Who back here in 2020 for nostalgia
I don’t understand why people called Shawn “homophobic” in the comments for his reaction to STAR. Any straight man would be surprised, maybe even put off momentarily, by the sudden bluntness of Kevin’s line. Typically one would be used to hearing someone confirm their sexuality in a less abrasive manner, like Shawn said. Not because he’s against gays, it’s just not normal for gays to be so blunt, and I commend Kevin for trying to change that. I acted the same way when I first heard this song, but now I think it’s hilarious and low key the highlight of the song.
the 1 minute rant about it was unnecessary he even said he needs to cut it out bro what
Ameer Van Dom Mclennon Matt Champion Kevin Abstract Joba and Merilyn
5:15 is when we reach the fun part
I may be wrong but my interpretation of BUMP is that when the they are going in and the beat is going hard that's sort of the peak of the high while on cocaine and when it mellows out to "And when this endsss at least I have a reason to liveee" is kinda referencing the come down of said high. Idk let me know what you guys think :)
I know yall came here after Shawn's last video
MARINØ ِ whats the timestamp?
I dont appreciate that you go so much into depth into your analysis on our first listen
dude tells him not to be aggressive and ignores the hundreds of rappers that say the same shit but straight
Why are people still over complicating his reaction just please stfu
1st Shawn Cee vid 4 me, great review man! I like how much thought you put into a track when you pause. Cool that u got the "something for everyone" vibe to SATURATION. Some reviews/reviewers get pissed that its not meant to be a full on rap/ hip hop album; BROCK isa a bunch of kids with a shitload of wild creative ability and technical skill that hasnt completely coalesced yet, but this is a great start, imo. So, yeah Shawn, u seem 2 b a thinker, and thats a good thing. Def be comin back for more reacts , reviews, opinions. Ok, peace.
8:02 Shawn reaches peak ascension
Their music videos really display their aesthetic well
Your reaction to when he said "I just gave my nigga head" Kevin Abstract is Bi FYI
Dat Boi nah he's gay, he's openly gay, not bi
+Eric Cartman Being bi basically is gay. What are you talking about? Bi is sex with both genders, gay is just sex with your own gender. Both gay
Justiceisahero but bi has being gay in it
C. L. K ok? Your being gay and straight. Thats basically what bi is. This isnt hard to understand
_Lazy N!gga_ So you agree your logic makes no sense then. You literally said being bi is being gay and now you're saying otherwise.
BROCKHAMPTON also have a show on VICELAND called American Boyband
