Totally agree!! One would be hard pressed to think of any rock drummer and guitar player combo that have logged more actual playing time together. You figure since the early days of their life they were jamming together counting the pre-teen years, not just drum and guitar but various instruments until they discovered rock guitar and drums in their teens. Then the fact that they played wherever and whenever in those days around the Southern California area it’s wild to think just how connected they were with each other and that definitely shows in the tightness of the tunes. It’s as if the drums and guitar are one in a way no other band had or has. Long live the Mighty Van Halen!!!!!
This tour was the second concert I ever saw in my life. The first was in 1982 and it was the rush signals tour. Talk about a 1 2 punch of great bands to see.
This album absolutely captured 80’s awesomeness and attitude like no other. This album dripped, screamed, yelled, danced, and air-guitared attitude. They brought the goods. It’s a damn shame the attitudes got in the way and this was the last album of the original Van Halen.
Alex didn't use a double bass drum pedal. He notoriously played a big, expansive drum set, including two separate bass drums. Or four, depending on his mood. You can hear AVH's magic double kick all over the place, but my fave is the HOT FOR TEACHER intro. He's basically doing all that Bonham bass drum stuff, but he's doing it WITH BOTH FEET.
@IZZY_EDIBLE yep, double bass pedals weren't invented yet. One pedal per bass drum. He only recorded with a double kick kit. The four kick set was only for live shows. Yes, Alex was the engine of that band, a beast.
I saw the thumbnail on my feed and instantly started writing this comment. Don't even need to know about your reaction to know it's Van Halen's bestest effort.
Alex showcasing why he was one of the best drummers in rock and roll!!!
To me, the best track on the album. Alex and Eddie hitting on all cylinders. That song never ever gets old.
That drum and guitar synchronicity is soul tight, blood brother tight. They enjoyed a hell of a gift playing together didn’t they.

Glad to see you finally getting to this song! One of my favorites by VH!🔥
Yep. Frenetic!! Fast and badass! Smokin hot! And it leads well right into House of Pain!
Frantic and intricate are good words!

Don’t sleep on Mikey’s base playing and background vocals. Stellar!
Eddie and Alex are so tight on this song. This is a song worth listening to a few times until you get is down. It’s a great song.
Never heard the one. My gosh the drumming on this tune is insane. And the synchronicity between Alex and Eddie fire!
my favorite song from this disc. This & Hang Em High from Diver Down are my 2 picks for most underrated.
My favorite VH tune. Eddie’s dark heavy rhythm is top-notch. And Alex. Damn. So tight.
Eddie and Alex…Alex and Eddie!! When the drums drop in this song you can totally hear how they vide!! Great compliment to one another
VH on the heavy bag..shred fest! 🤘🤘
Those switchups!!!!! 🤯

One of Van Halen's most progressive songs baby!

Iconic Van Halen Music just incredible that's all Alex and Edward cause Eds playing Bass and Guitar
Maybe my favorite tune on a good loud hifi. Especially when those drums hit at the end.
Keep your dirty mouf shut when I got this one crankin'.
THE BEST VH deep cut.
These streets are in ashes. I don't call them my own. 👌🏻🔴⚫⚪
Eddie wrote the best bridges for the solo
how have you not done Ill Wait tho? best song on the album
Imo Alex's best work.
It's like they took a page (no pun intended) from Zep's "Achilles Last Stand" and gave it the VH treatment:) 🔥🔥🔥
