I can't quite believe how can the drummer play so complete with that simple of a set up. I figure it would be hard to play without a crash and toms, but he definitely nailed it. Awesome groove guys.
I'm no musical expert but I understand that the best music or any creative art comes from when you let go and feel it in your soul rather than think too much about the technical. To me, this is it in a nutshell.
For Non Stop Pop - It can be really tricky to get balance right in a cramped situation like this with real drums (usually bleed into everything) etc - everything sounds clear/natural and the balance is right. That's all that you should be aiming for in a "live" situation. This band has instrumentation that lends itself to this kind of performance though, no high gain stacks and cymbals/double kick murdering everyone's ears.
It was all recorded here using our Universal Audio Apollo 8P's. Then Ben mixed it here with Pete using the UAD plugs and Ben's magic fingers and ears. Ben is not only a brilliantly talented musician but also an amazing engineer with a ear for tones. And thank you again Ben and all the guys for coming in to play.
Love the snare sound, composition, playing and whole mix! Hope Anderton's Sessions will become a regular show, with different styles of music and a small interview of the band/artist maybe!
Please make this a regular thing. The sessions is a great idea. Use local's and any stray celbs ya can drag off the street. Wonderful sound from Ben Jones and his mates. Keep up the great work!!!!
This is an idea that could make this channel even more awesome. Great entertainment for us and a way to promote unknown talented musicians. Only criticism I have is that only 5 minutes is just not enough :P
Excellent sound on the vid. Never heard of the band but great music. That epiphone dot I was going to buy tomorrow is now a gibson. Damnit, I'm in trouble again for the eighth guitar in a row.
Anything with a bass player named Palladino is going to get a listen from me and this was totally worth it :) - really enjoyed the track and the musicianship, picked up the EP. Great sound mix too, Ben.
He looks like his dad to me, anyway, and is obviously a fine player. I am really enjoying the Sessions feature so far. Hope these guys make it stateside somewhere close.
Is the bass player related to PIno Palladino ? cos that would make sense with the drums and bass being so god dam tight just googled it ... hes his son :)
Nice! I think that should be the new standard for UA featured artists and music ;) One thing though, I think I'm hearing the snare vibrating to the guitar pretty heavily. Must be because of the amp being too close to it.
Yeeey :D i love the idea of this session series :D please please please do PVRIS session! The do amazing stuff in sessions like this, check The Empty Room session
Sounds awesome! I hope you guys will be doing more of these. You need to give the poor band a bigger space though. It looked like they were stuffed into a broom closet.
... I have been eagerly anticipating the Rufus Black material (as have been a fan of Scott for a while .. and this last year discovered Gavins vocals!) ... noticed the funky cool guitar player and thought 'who is that!?' ... a bit of stalking youtube later and find this performance! ... Awesome groove guys .. love this! ... going to search out more stuff now :D
So, I've listened to this at least a dozen times today. Killer. POST MORE INFO ABOUT THE ARTIST! Website? Bio? UA-cam page? Facebook? Etc? If ever there were a case for a stage name, this were it...Google scrapes the barrel deep if you search for "Ben Jones"...
I was going to say the same thing, glad to see someone had the same thought... When are you guys going to get a little larger space? I mean, two people and all their amps and pedals fill the place up and the camera guy is backed up against the wall... I would hate being there with all these guys and a camera guy, damn!
It's not the space, packed jams are always fun, it's just that it would be cool to have something that looks more "inspiring" , something like 4AD sessions or Paolo Nutini's live acoustic videos
Whoever is responsible for sound mix is doing a great job. Quality music !
Just had a glance through the comments - turns out it was Ben himself mixing it!
Danceable, Skateable, Riding in the Truck! So Funky ..Bravo!
I can't quite believe how can the drummer play so complete with that simple of a set up.

Awesome groove guys.

Great playing and a great mix - whoever is engineering these is doing shit right.
Please explain. I'm relatively new to the audio mixing recording side of things.
I dont know much about the mixing side of music, but I agree it sounds perfic.
Most likely our afro'd friend Rabea. He does a lot of engineering for andertons if im not mistaken.

Love this! Hope for many more sessions to come...
Such soulful playing. Just come across Ben as I googled who was guitarist on The Voice. What a talent!
Ash Soan is THE Groove Master! 👌
ridiculously good performance *and* mix.
Wow, just discovered this dude. What a great groove, incrédible band
Rocco palladino 🎸🎧🥁🎹😎groove machine
Love the snare sound, composition, playing and whole mix! Hope Anderton's Sessions will become a regular show, with different styles of music and a small interview of the band/artist maybe!

Holy sweet baby Moses that song is amazing...! I think I found my next album to buy.
I rarely comment but I'm really digging the new Anderton's Sessions, please keep 'em coming
Too cool! I like the vibe.
ash soan is killing!!!
Looks like the gingers are smashing it this week down at Andertons!!!
Very nice playing, just bought the EP on iTunes.
Please make this a regular thing. The sessions is a great idea. Use local's and any stray celbs ya can drag off the street. Wonderful sound from Ben Jones and his mates. Keep up the great work!!!!
Really smooth, and the breakdown is heavenly!!!
Andertons Sessions, what a great idea. These guys sounded great. Heading over to iTunes now. Keep it coming!
Great job guys. I just bought the EP and I look forward to spending some time with it. Thanks Anderton's for doing this.
Fantastic!
The list of subscribers should be way higher on this channel.
This is an idea that could make this channel even more awesome. Great entertainment for us and a way to promote unknown talented musicians.
Only criticism I have is that only 5 minutes is just not enough :P
Especially of this awesome band
At last, some proper music being made somewhere! Love this.
love it love it love it
That was cool. Do more of these. Also, the drummer was killer.
This sounded great. Nice groove.
i hear Kraz, I hear Sco, all of it good, very good, cheers from Montreal!
Hi Ben you were outstanding in Westlifes Farewell Tour back in 2012 you're very talented 👏
Immense sound and playing" love it"
Beautiful funk/fusion blend. Well done, Brits. :)
So glad I hit the play button... Awesome :-)
Awesome. Love that sound and groove 😍👌
Good partners with Rocco (the son of the amazing Pino) and Ash Soan on drums.
This is so nice to listen to!! I have to get this ep
Wow these guys are awesome! All equally talented musicians. Really enjoyed that!
This is GREAT!
Nice and tight!
Nice track, and drumming. Really infectious grooving.
That was great.
awesome mix
Excellent sound on the vid. Never heard of the band but great music. That epiphone dot I was going to buy tomorrow is now a gibson. Damnit, I'm in trouble again for the eighth guitar in a row.
This is great!!
That sounds amazing!
Super hulk of a groove!! kinda Scott Hendersonish.. killer cut!!
This was really good
Great sound!
But is he playing through a kemper or a valve amp?
I think that that phrase is going to be to new but does it Djent, does it Kemper!
Does it matter?
looks like a matchless
lol!
phwoar, not anymore!
more please!!!
Classy!😙
Anything with a bass player named Palladino is going to get a listen from me and this was totally worth it :) - really enjoyed the track and the musicianship, picked up the EP. Great sound mix too, Ben.
Lol, that was one of the first things I noticed. He has 2 famous bass names, ie. Rocco (Prestia).
He looks like his dad to me, anyway, and is obviously a fine player. I am really enjoying the Sessions feature so far. Hope these guys make it stateside somewhere close.
Very, very tasty. Everybody is killing it, but I'm particularly being blown away by Ash on drums.
Ash is such a beast on the drums!
That is actually really good. Well done mate!
very cool tune... one does not hear jazz too often on Andertons channel...
This band is f*cking awesome...
Pristine audio quality, good job. Everything is sitting nicely in the mix.
You can always tell it's Palladino by the head bobbing and the groove!
@2:53 and on, Oh my!
Is the bass player related to PIno Palladino ? cos that would make sense with the drums and bass being so god dam tight just googled it ... hes his son :)
Awesome stuff. Shame it's not on Spotify...
Nice! I think that should be the new standard for UA featured artists and music ;) One thing though, I think I'm hearing the snare vibrating to the guitar pretty heavily. Must be because of the amp being too close to it.
The young Palladino padawan. Amazing
This guy got a new fan
Its like snarky puppy! But smaller, and more bluesy
really good
Well done!
Damn good!
this is cool
Nice!
I've played this song 600 times... is this on vinyl
This is dope :)
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet more please :)
Slick groove, reminds me ofJeff Porcaro
What kind of scales is Ben playing? is this considered fuzion jazz?
Loving it regardless!
Cool sound man ;-)
Who's the drummer? Excellent playing! Really tight
He can play
hi what is bens gear rig on this ?, great sound
I listened to all of this... and I have the attention span of a ADHD child after eating a duty free toblerone. Loved
it
Is there any other way of getting his EP other than iTunes?
Not my style of music, but hey I liked it, very chilled and very talented musicians.
Yeeey :D i love the idea of this session series :D please please please do PVRIS session! The do amazing stuff in sessions like this, check The Empty Room session
The guitar playing very good, now the whole rhythm section solid and tight as fuck!
only just noticed it's ash soan on the drums!
Is the guitarist playing through the Matchless head or the bass?
How come the sound is substantially better in this video than the chappers and captain stuff
Sounds awesome! I hope you guys will be doing more of these. You need to give the poor band a bigger space though. It looked like they were stuffed into a broom closet.
this was weird to see in my sub box
Been watching this semi regularly for last couple years, it’s so good mate
Great way to diversify the videos and support upcoming musicians! Time to upsize the video room?
So, I've listened to this at least a dozen times today. Killer. POST MORE INFO ABOUT THE ARTIST! Website? Bio? UA-cam page? Facebook? Etc? If ever there were a case for a stage name, this were it...Google scrapes the barrel deep if you search for "Ben Jones"...

Thanks.
I refuse to use i-anything. How can I buy?
Nice
andertons sessions is a really cool idea, but what about a better filming location?
I was going to say the same thing, glad to see someone had the same thought... When are you guys going to get a little larger space? I mean, two people and all their amps and pedals fill the place up and the camera guy is backed up against the wall... I would hate being there with all these guys and a camera guy, damn!
More space? Ever watched Jam in the van? ;-)
It's not the space, packed jams are always fun, it's just that it would be cool to have something that looks more "inspiring" , something like 4AD sessions or Paolo Nutini's live acoustic videos
Who knows if this format is meant to stay. You gotta start somewhere.
Nice pocket 😎
Who the hell are those 4 people who pressed the thumbs down button for this???
