I like this one more than the LR4 I think. A lot more balanced, more of a jack of all trades but less good at the LR stuff. You should do an "Andy's Ultimate" series where you build (virtually or actually) your version of a cinewhoop, 3" toothpick, 2.5" toothpick etc. Best motors, frame, kv, props, lipo, camera whatever.
Deff a good idea. Especially how Andy said at the end of the video, that if he put the parts from this one in the LR4 it would be the best of both. After a review of a product its a good idea to combine 2 and make a special 1
Hi Andy, I like the Chimera. I am waiting for my GepRc 4" Baby Croc LR. Suppose to get 20 to 28 minutes flight time. Painless is the only reviewer with a video out so far. I am looking forward to your review on the Baby Croc. I know they will be sending you one. That is if you don't already have it. LOL. I ordered the Analog version (as I do not yet have a set of DJI goggles) with a Crossfire RX. I have the Tango2 radio and HDO goggles. Again, looking forward to your Baby Croc review! Thanks for all that you do. You are a HUGE part of the FPV community. We all love ya man! From Indianapolis Indiana, Happy Flyin. P.S. keep up the reality TV type of videos. They are great entertainment for us FPV junkies!
After my Flywoo experience I am ready for anything else - ordered aug 16, got it 2 days ago, with the VTX wired wrong so it immediately burned out (see their review page for the analog version for more info on that if curious.) Definitely going to give this a shot though
The TBS GPS unit in my 4” TomoQuads Katana works about the same as unit in the Flywoo LR4. I recently ordered a replacement in the form of the iFlight GPS unit and apparently it works much better. The TBS unit takes forever to get just 4 satellites and sometimes doesn’t discover any after 15+ total minutes of flight. Until I get 6+ satellites the altitude reading is so far off that GPS Rescue might not function well. Luckily I’ve never had to really use it but I haven’t went further than a mile (1.7km) yet.
If I remember right. This one is a lil heavier and has higher kv so technically more power. Higher esc amp rating means u can put higher pitch triblades props on it. If u want crazy speed

Hello, beautiful images. Thank you for your great work. I am waiting for the Chimera 4 after discarding the flywoo due to the bad reviews received for the gps malfunction. How does the Chimera 4 work in this regard?
Hm, so a bit more sturdy, but a bit shorter flight times. Good to have some variation in the lr cruiser segment. And obviously the long range cruiser is officially a quad type now that there are multiple choices, good for us fpv people :)
Incredible los skill 🔥🔥 I wonder how the dji will cope low to the ground 1k out ? When you go up that high everything looks the same 😂 easily lost ! Nice quad 👍🏻
its funny i had a micro reverb 4" like two months ago until i smashed it on a failsafe with failed gps resuce... now i have 5 & 6" im glad companies are making these 4" LR/freestyle 250g quads! can fly em anywhere!
HI! Yes pids is OK, I put it on my build (deadcat frame) the same time btw! but I think X-style - less wobbles as I see from your video.... , but can you share the Filters settings as well , please?!
Nice review Andy. Are they selling their GPS module separately? The GPS is the only reason (apart from Flywoo's attitude towards buyers) stopping me from buying the Explorer LR. Back to the video: If you had drift in angle mode, you could use stick commands to calibrate the accelerometer, couldn't you? How could I tell if it is from FC noise rather than a bad calibration in Betaflight (not level etc.)? Another question: Do you have a video explaining PID tuning? I searched but could not find one. And please don't direct me to JB 😂
Hey Andy another great review. I was curious to why in the Fail Safe section you also recommend the Quad to drop and not leverage the GPS Rescue. Just curious to your reasoning on this. Wouldn't it be better to have GPS Rescue setup on a switch AND for Failsafe? If you go so far out that you loose your control link wouldn't you want it to come back instead of just dropping? Hitting your switch wont help if you have no control link. Just curious to your reasoning behind having it drop as opposed to GPS Rescue? Or did I misunderstand?
Gps rescue is hit and miss whether it works. It can randomly fly away making it impossible to find your quad. If you set it to drop then at least toy have an idea where it might be
@@AndyRCchannel thanks for your reply. I value your knowledge on the subject. I've got it working on a switch and it's been great for me so far. I guess I've been lucky and have not had any flyaways. I've been out as far as our home location looks like the tip of my finger nail on a 3" Micro and have gotten lost several times and GPS Rescue (switch) has saved me more than once. I use the return arrow now and that makes it easy to get my bearings. I have not had the courage to turn off my radio and actually see if GPS Rescue with lost control link works. Ive swapped over to (ELRS) and it s been very good so far outlasting the performance of my batteries GNB1100HV on 3" even the video has been very good . I always record my LAT & LONG coordinates on the bottom of OSD incase I need to track it down as another safety measure.

Wait, the analog actually CAN hit 250g on an 850mAh? That was the main factor pushing me to prefer Flywoo's aircraft over this one. If I can get the added toughness of the Chimera 4 for a nice all-in-one aircraft that does it all (if not as well) and still hit 850g, that'd make this a VERY compelling machine for me. Especially if I can swing it with a Runcam Split aboard for HD. The LR4 also got an upgrade to an 850mW VTX, and a claimed upgrade to the GPS reliability. It looks like it has a bit of a drift towards the right in your FPV flights. Is this something to worry about or is this likely a calibration problem?
damn, I would love to see Your opinion on geprc version - crocodile 4. But if they fail to deliver (I think it was mention in one of comments) then it will be their loss, as then I'll most likely but one of those already reviewed - thanks for great work
You okay Andy I was thinking of getting a gep RC croc 4 but I only have a qx7./and fat shark V4 Goggles so which one should I buy to get the longest range and the best picture because this all that TBS crossfire do I need any of that stuff I actually need it because I keep losing drones I need them to come back unless you have one for sale anyway thanks mate Ian
I think I'll give up waiting for the flywoo lr4 to be available in the UK, seems like I've been waiting for ages so will probably go for this as it's already available in the UK 😁 flywoo lost a sale due to them taking an eternity to get there shit together
Hi Andy, great video as always! I really hope you are well brother. Can you see the GPS information in the DJI goggles? I currently don't have any quad with GPS module equipped. Be the way, how do you manage to display the DJI's "telemetry" information contained in their file display in that very clear way?
Hi Andy! You are really good at flying in line of sight. Would the video footage recorded by the drone while you fly in LOS look somewhat different than the one when you fly FPV?
for the camera, the angle is easy to change, a little bit of dremel or a blow of a soldering iron, and voila! you have the angles you want ... they are boring, they are all good, this one attracts me more, because they are more like a real drone, but the propellers in the field are damage, but I see well with 4 "in 3 blades. and can be more powerful motors, but already the 3500kv is cool;) for a little freestyle and not only of the" microlongrange .. "it is the fashion for Christmas; ) (and without a vista!) they try to remove the nebulas but nobody wants them .. only for the specific in my opinion ...
Hey Andy, I hope you are doing alright. will you make a video with the deadcat frame eventually? It would be nice to see if it is any different from X frame.
Thanks for the video, I just got mine yesterday and I took it to the local part for my maiden flight. The first thing I noticed is that I don't see the GPS home arrow but instead it's a "dash line" and the Sat count seems stuck at 14 forever. Any suggestion on how to fix this? Everything is stock settings.
I just wish this frame was a tad lighter. I'm wondering if the airblade transformer mini is the best option right now for a diy frame option. It's light and still supports dual stacks.
Have one on the way with all extra’s and was wondering would the Dc frame make for a longer flight time ? And how would the tune change ? Because of the geometry change ?
Hate to double post but, GPS modules seem to be cheap as hell - would it not be possible to simply replace the one on the LR4? I was thinkign of doing so anyways to get one with a compass built in

No it's the wind compensation when sped up
