Hey Corey do you ever watch Ivan Mikolji UA-cam videos?? He has some amazing videos!! He's a biologist who makes great documentary's and videos on aquarium fish in the wild habitats that are just spectacular!!! Definitely check out Ivan Mikolji UA-cam channel if you never have seen his stuff before, its a MUST SEE!!! Love how Ivan brings an empty aquarium to the deep jungle rivers, and sets up a natural tank right on the bank with whatever fish, rocks, logs, medium he can find
There are alot of different species. And just because there is mostly sharp substrate doesn’t mean there are patches of sand/mud/debree to search trough in Corystyle. But that’s just a theorie.
I heard another theory that the low pH and low TDS and other water parameters make it easier for corys to heal from scratches on sharp rocks. So if your aquarium has sharp substrate but high pH this might be a bad combination that makes it harder for them to heal.
Yeah i accidentally made a South East Asian tank. Lol Mylasian turtle, tiger barbs , clown loaches, Malaysian wood.... Ect But yeah he should but so many fish are from there the selection would be insane..
If Jimmy was there I'm envisioning him on the bank with his little grill quietly cooking (and eating) all the fish as everyone catches them. Dean: "Hold these Jimmy." Jimmy: "Sure thing!" **sizzle** Cory: "Hey, where's the buckets with all the fish?" TDS of 9?! That's RO water down here in liquid rock country. LOL! Let the jokes of you guys having 'bats in your belfreys' commence! These videos are fantastic; and the extra tidbits like "here is the gravel" make them even better. I can hardly wait to see what ends up in Dean's fishroom.
Cant wait to see some of those fish in the aquarium so we can get a proper look at them , and come on we all know you were taking a leak sitting in the river like that :p
Do you ever watch Ivan Mikolji videos on UA-cam?? He's a biologist who makes ABSOLUTELY AMAZING videos on aquarium fish in the wild!! Love his videos, they are a gift to watch!!! He's kinda known for bringing an aquarium out to the jungle rivers and making a tank set up right on the bank with whatever fish, rocks, medium, logs he can find! Ivan Mikolji makes some awesome videos, if you haven't seen his stuff, YOU MUST check it out! He also makes Great aquarium fish documentary's! Cool to see Cory's in the wild!!
I am really loving these videos; keep em coming! On a side note, I’ve been working on my Amazon tank this week and this provided plenty of inspiration!
Classic collecting tip. Wear the quick-dry pants with pockets on the thigh. Put the fish in your pockets till you make it back to your bucket. Few minutes in your pocket will be no problems
This was freaking fantastic, so thankful for the footage you brought back Cory. What an experience, happy for you! Love the butterflies. 💜 Nicely done Jimmy.
You guys look like Indiana Jones of collecting fish. A trip of a lifetime and it just goes to see where the fish comes from in there natural habitat. I suppose they are too small to be eaten by the locals so that's why we have aquariums. Gods work is amazing, great adventure , nice one mate.
Thanks guys I really enjoyed this video I love getting out in the wilderness and y’all just made me feel very envious and happy for you guys at the same time
These videos are brilliant! I'm loving them, but I don't know how many times I've told you out loud to get them into water! My nose is almost fixed to the screen while looking into the nets. What a great way to spend an afternoon - me sitting here watching the vids while you're out there in the heat and humidity. I'm loving it and you guys seem to be loving what you're doing, too! Great Choice Cory, giving us the longer version!
👍👍you were already a fisherman before Peru, you just needed an appropriate aquarium net and you would be the river master anywhere, something to be said for years of experience, lol. Incredible adventure Cory, enjoy. 😊
You guys should use either the big flat square nets that sit flat on the ground for catching a ton at a time or set up cages to catch fish, those you could just set them up in all the different areas that you're in while you're trying to catch with nets, you'll catch way more with either method
Awsome video Cory I enjoyed watching you guys have the time of a lifetime catching fish I can't wait to see them back home to see what all you caught..👍👍🌿💚
That being said it looks like a lot of fun finding them and experiencing their environment. Maybe a catch and release would be beneficial to the environment if many of these tours occur. It reminds me of tramping around in the local rivers as a kid and getting my shoes sucked off by the mud and coming home filthy and very happy.
It's amazing to see where the fish we know so well actually come from! I feel like it's easy to forget when we just see them in tanks.. The underwater shots of the environment they're in is so cool, it makes me feel silly with my carefully planted aquarium 😋 when really my fish would feel more at home with mouldy sticks and leaf litter lol
amazing how y'all upload 30mins of footage with almost no time dedicated to doing closeups of what you caught - literally the main attraction of the vid. lol
Brother, I think for Christmas you need to ask Santa for a head-mounted Go-Pro! Some of the "hike" through the jungle looked pretty treacherous! Thank you for these great shots / video, and would love to see a summary from your shop of all you brought back from Peru!
No Way to the short punchy videos. We always want the long versions. And wow bravo thanks for bringing all the awesome footage of your Peru trip, its so cool feels like we got to go with you. I know it must have been super hard to film there and also taking away time from catching fish thank you for all your hard work. I hope you get tons more supporters to $upport Aquarium Co-Op by signing-up to your Patreon Page www.patreon.com/aquariumcoop So we can learn about more amazing fish catching places and countries and see more awesome fishy events. Cory is someone well worth supporting. You cant watch a video and not learn something. That is coming from experience the experience we get to go along for the ride on!
This has been amazing to watch, you got some great shots and footage with your cell phone. It just blows me away to see the variety of fish that get scooped up in one net. Just amazing to see where these fish actully live, and the substrate where the cories were caught...well that blows away the folks that say you can't keep them on gravel doesn't it?
These vids are definitely changing perspective. I especially like the tannins and substrate that we all think is one thing, but is entirely different. Blackwater tank with huge amount s of leaf litter is the setup to have
I would also note, just because a fish lives like this, doesn't mean it's the best way for it to live. But it definitely helps show the range in which these fish adapt too.
Someone needs to do a serious survey of our own native North American waters. We have so many MILLIONS of tiny creeks and steams that flow into more major river systems, each isolated for miles of undisturbed breeding. There are MILLIONS of fish as of yet undocumented in our OWN WATERWAYS... and yet the industry ignores them. Someone would make a TON of money shipping our natives to other countries where the hobby is so much larger.

Dispelling myths (corydoras on sharp substrate) while in Peru. Awesome!

So if your aquarium has sharp substrate but high pH this might be a bad combination that makes it harder for them to heal.
I do think there's a difference though, because these are quite big pebbles essentially, and it would be different from sharp sand-sized stuff
What does Felix mean “no one wants Cichlid” I was yelling yes I want the cichlids🤣
haha same
It's cool that you noted the PH of the river/stream.
Such a beautiful view at the beginning of the vid. I'd like to wake up to that every morning!
(let's watch the rest of the vid now..)
He should make a Peru tank
Yeah i accidentally made a South East Asian tank. Lol
Mylasian turtle, tiger barbs , clown loaches, Malaysian wood.... Ect

next time i'd highly recommend a head or chest mounted gopro
Dean had hat from last year, footage was unusable.
This made my day. Please tell me this is vlog 2/50, I could geek out to these videos for hours.🤩
Morning coffee and Peru collecting video. Perfect way to start the day ☕️🐟👍

Felix deserves a raise 😂

Yes.
thanks mate
Awsome video Cory I enjoyed watching you guys have the time of a lifetime catching fish I can't wait to see them back home to see what all you caught..👍👍🌿💚
looks like so much fun
You should try to bring some of those freshwater crabs back, it'll save terrestrial brackish crabs from being needlessly kept in fresh water.
Amazing how plentiful they are right at the roads
It's amazing to see where the fish we know so well actually come from! I feel like it's easy to forget when we just see them in tanks..

Can we talk about how badass Felix is?
Definitely. He is an allstar. It's why we call him King Felix.
Awesome!! Are you allowed to take the fish back home with you on the plane?? Or do you have to ship them??
