Lenovo Smart Paper e-ink tablet has received another small update, but this time it actually got a new functionality, which is a very welcome and powerful addition. Way too late, but still, better late than never, I guess...

There is another failure when importing a ebook. When connected via USB-C the file manager shows the ebook in the download directory. But when I want to import it to the library the directory seems to be empty. It doesnt matter if the ebook is DRM protected or not or if it is a 'epub' or a 'mobi' or 'awz'. What is going wrong?
I don't know what to say; I kind of thought a big company with so much experience in computers, tablets, phones, would... you know... know the basics of UI...
Yeah, but why would they? Their devices ship with ready made OS's, Windows and Android. This makes it painfully obvious that they have absolutely no idea how to make a good, or just a complete UI and UX of their own.
Hi I agree with you, the Lenovo Smart Paper is well built but how is it possible to build a nice device but without some features that are behind it...... I've made suggestions to the Lenovo team, and I hope they can add improvements to the notes, PDFs, and more.
These are down to $AU349.00. Just picked up one and for the price I really can't complain. Have sideloaded Kindle but otherwise the first impressions have been very good.
Well. Did they fix the zoom/auto-rotation bug on handwriting? The kind of strange behaviour when you zoomed into a PDF that the handwriting would still ok the Position where you noted things down?

BTW: They immediately had killed their notebooks with e-ink-displays baked in. But those things worked better than this tablet. 😂

Nope, that's one of the big things I was referring to that they didn't address and that was very disappointing.
Smart paper nibs replacements.
I received my smart paper today. After ordering it I realised that Lenovo does not sell replacement nibs for the stylus.
Asked Lenovo, and I'm sure many aren't surprised that the customer service is absolutely garbage.
As it happens, I own a Wacom pro pen 2, with some spare nibs. It turns out the nibs for that Wacom pen is pretty much the exact same shape and length as the pen for the smart paper. Additionally, I have both plastic and felt nibs for the Wacom pen and the felt nibs feel great on the spart paper.
I hope this helps! And if any Lenovo staff read this I hope you know your companies support is dog shit and you should all feel bad.

@@MyDeepGuide I wouldn't put it past them. Reading about how bad their support was didn't actually prepare me for how bad it really is. It feels like they're actually putting in effort not to be helpful.
Never underestimate the misery that the corporate culture spreads around and inside of itself.
Interesting update. These devices are now cheaper on Amazon than the note air 3 by £50.
Sounds like Lenovo are putting effort into it but it’s not there yet.
two days ago I bought one of them in Turkey, It was 7999 TL , which is around 250 euro.

@@davidr1431 I checked my device , it was produced at june 2023, I don't know maybe there is a reason for this price. But all functions works well but some apps not exist like wps.

In a strange coincidence, I managed to try out BOTH the Smart Paper and reMarkable 2 in person in a store in Australia yesterday.
The Smart Paper without a pen because they didn’t have it there. And the famed rM nib was mashed to a blunt end so I didn’t get the most accurate experience.
I genuinely could see the benefits of no front light layer for a crisp and contrasty paper like display on the rM2, but I can also genuinely see the speed and refresh improvements that Carta 1200 provides on my Scribe when navigating the UI. Take out the front light layer, dial down the screen texture and the Scribe would look truly amazing.
But who cares? We’re all waiting on the Supernote A5 X2 😂
JB Hifi just dropped this to $349 as a clearance model and I'd been eyeing off getting a remarkable, so this caught my eye. I grabbed one coz it was the last one in that store, to then do research before opening it...
With what I'm seeing, I know it's a bargain, but price doesn't mean much if functionality is miserable.
I think I might go get refunded as I feel like the reason it's clearance price so hard is that it MIGHT be an indicator that Lenovo might well drop ongoing support.
Also, on your experience in store, the Remarkable nibs are super soft. So much so I reckon it's more for money making on the consumable factor than it is to be "like a pencil".
I saw that on the website yesterday and I gave a $100 gift card, but after revisiting this video I decided I just couldn’t. How’s the contrast? I didn’t have any books to try out, but I assumed the heavy texture would make it quite terrible. I can’t imagine the software getting better…

I'd be interested if MDG would do a test run on sideloading the kobo app. If it's half functional I'll keep it given the price point. Watching Kits review on how the smart paper won't even rotate the annotations with the source document is pretty abysmal though...
Why this giant player , who stands at the pinnacle of hardware configuration in both functionality and physical UI design perfection [e.g 2 in 1 Yoga ] , is hesitating to introduce functionality aspect in soft UI (which is far more easy than electronic hardware functionality configuration and physical UI design) in its e ink notebook ?
There is no way to justify this behavior by retreating from nonprofitable punch of e ink fans because in the first place why this giant forward expensive valuable step (in terms of hardware ) toward those fans and inside this giant step a latent destructive halting mechanism residing in non expensive effortless software UI functionality ? just a seductive approach from the most gorgeous and se*iest manufacturer toward a punch of elite customers.
