Thank you Dr. Grace but can you make a video on how to use Anki without making the reviews overwhelming. I use Anki as a medical student from Nigeria but now I have close to 4000 cards and an average of 300 cards to study everyday. It's just becoming increasingly overwhelming.
I also learned that in learning anything you only retain about 30%. It is very important that you go over it and over it. Also I learned earlier in my life it takes 37 times for anything that you've learned to be put into long-term memory
I'm a final year medical student. Even though I stay up at night, I found out morning times are still my most active periods for reading. Thanks alot Dr. Grace
Hey Nellah! I've been watching your videos for a really long time now and I just want to say I admire what you do and how far you have come! I WISH you were my college advisor, you are so great (I am currently a Junior in college) I appreciate your study tips and videos of your journey! I'm so proud of you sis! May God continue to Bless you Nellah!
Thank you for this video. I’m an IM resident though, and most of the time we’re working. I only study whenever I had time, meaning in between admitting a patient, doing rounds, doing an errand, or if I’m not sleeping because of exhaustion. Sometimes I read or have my meal while walking from one ward to another. Looking back, during med school, I should’ve have studied smarter rather than harder.
I am going to be trying this for a week starting tomorrow I will come back to this comment and let you know how it goes ! I recently just deleted all social medias so I can focus on my nursing school!! Lately I’ve been slacking in the studying area because of the fear of not doing it right!! But after watching your videos active recall is the best thing for me cramming doesn’t work for me at all!! I need a set schedule and I wanna thank you for this god bless you ❤️
I’ve told people that classical music was the only music I could listen to, to focus. They used to play it at the start of every assembly as we were sitting down during primary school and during assessments in class. I’m happy my school did this and that this is actually proven to be good for learning.
I love and appreciate your videos, very educative. My study 📚 routine: 6am to 9am and 9pm to 11pm. I will love to have access to Ken-hub because I’m about to register for the teas entrance exam for nursing. I believe it will be of great help to me since I want to cover the majority of Anatomy and Physiology. Thank you. 🙏🙏🙏
AHHHH needed this so much I'm binge watching best revision methods, how to revise how to study etc etc thank you so much this will be so good!!! (I'm in year 11) I mean I know how to revise, I've been trying to revise since day 1 of the school year but I'm just not great at staying motivated or being great at revision 🤷♀️
I use ANKI to schedule when to go through the things I learned. I have a deck for each subject and a flashcard to the specific themes within the subjects. It works wonders because the most difficult part about spaced repetition is to remember what you have to study and when, since it can become quite overwhelming as you add more and more to the total information you should be reviewing.
everyone raves about Anki but the platform is so overwhelming, I feel like it takes me more time/effort to make flashcards and I dont really know how to make or use them effectively. is there any video or suggestion you have to using anki in a way that works?
To the person reading this: We don’t know each other, but I wish you all the best in life and may all things work out in your favor. Don’t give up on yourself, things will get better! Trust me, you will make it. I believe in you! 💖
T hank you so much, I literally have been following your advice and I feel so ready for my exam, I am just trying to be a physical therapist assistant, but now I think I could of went for PT, I am learning with ease.
Thanks for the tips. I will really be grateful if you can make a video on how to make mind maps or flow charts. I think knowing that will help me absorb physiology as a first year medical student in Cameroon.
If you need help with these proctored exams here is the secret. ua-cam.com/video/ldOXeOpB73k/v-deo.html . I have used them before and they are very professional,,
I also read the same but listening with classical music they can't say for certain that it goes into your long-term but more so your short-term you need to follow it up like by writing things down to process it into your long-term

The way not to Overlord learn is the Pomodoro method where you're taking or learning for maybe 25 35 minutes then you're taking like a 5 to 10 minute break
Hi Nellah. Great vid as usual and great tips. You’re an inspiration. I wish I were a morning person but it just doesn’t work for me. I always end up doing my best studying at night sometimes through to early morning🙈 🤓 But I will deffo try your tips since it’s evidence based…. I just hope it works for me.
Yeah we are all so different so if it’s been working for you then maybe no need to change it but it’s worth a try and together with the other tips it might help. If it doesn’t work then just ditch it and go back to what works for you ☺️
Hi, Nella! Helpful video. I have a question though. For those of us who have to be at school for classes basically the whole day (that is, from 8 in the morning to 5 in the evening), what routine can you recommend? It gets really exhausting trying to handle classes, practical sessions and getting back to actually study at the end of the day...well, for me at least. Please help. I'd really appreciate it. Thank you❤️
I’d say do your routine in the evening since you can’t do it in the day. Take time between classes and when you get home to unplug so you break up the day and then just get it done. You have to be disciplined because it needs to get done, you can’t rely on how you feel unfortunately even though it’s valid to be be tired x
Interesting information but it would help tremendously if you cited your sources and elaborated on how the studies were carried out and how their specific results were measured. This is so we can critically evaluate them before accepting them as valid.
You can google the studies yourself lol I’m not trying to convince you to critically evaluate. But I agree about citing, I will in the future add them to the description.
I have also read and I can't recall what the article to cited as a source, they stated a combination of textbook or book in print and using a Kindle is also good
Nellah cool name, important you look up the mandela effect human anatomy, look all the ppl, some who are in the medical field, who VIVIDLY REMEMBER a different anatomy
Hi. I'm Racheal. I like to study between 6pm till 10pm with breaks in between. I'm more of an evening night person. I'd also like the Ken hub because I'm struggling with anatomy and physiology I nursing school. I could use the help. Thank you
In some of your videos, you've said you answer questions after lecture. What if It literally takes me 2+ hours to learn 1 lecture.. then at that point I can go and answer questions.. is that correct ? I don't feel I could answer questions that quickly
Yeppp if it takes you 2 hours then there’s nothing you can do, learning takes time and some things you can’t hack. Over time it may become easier and quicker for you x
Also your learning comes from answering the questions. You might think you’re not learning but just pay attention and focus on the lecture and then answer the Qs and you’ll probably remember a lot more than you think

Thanks so far for your videos
I am an evening person tho, studying at evening helps me more than morning, I just need little help in my evening study routine.

I tend to be a morning person currently studying for my step 1 pray for me

is there any limit to study time? such as we shouldn't study more that X hours per day?

and all nighters are a big no no, very counterintuitive

To be honest😂 I like to study from 12 midnight to 6 in the morning
I tell myself I can't study after being awake for like 10-12 hours straight

I study from 10-2pm with breaks
