Katie Porter really does her homework and the country is blessed to have her working for the people and our lands.
It’s a pity she lost to Schiff in the California Senate primary earlier this year, even though she is not that great on Israel’s war on the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank but still a bit better than Schiff who seems just as blind and supportive when it comes to the Isreali government’s war crimes. And apparently Katie has chosen not to seek reelection for her House seat, which is a real loss in Congress because no one is able to communicate so effectively in 5 minutes on the many important issues & problems she has dealt with on the House floor and the committees she’s been a part of.
Go get 'em Miss Porter! We love you and all you stand for! Run for PRESIDENT please! 💙💙💙💙💙💙

Katie Porter always comes prepared and reports what is really going on behind the scenes. We must leave lands in America that future generations will be able to go to areas where areas remain that remind us of the beauty of our nation. The Republican greed has the potential to wipe out everything beautiful in our country. When we study the Indian cultures prior to others coming and stealing their lands. The Indian’s life style was mostly one of great respect for the land and water. They had maintained the land and beauty of this country. Like it or not we stole that land, something that should never have happened. We made treaties that we 100% went back on and we should have no pride in stealing this land. Now we are still trying to take coveted land from all Americans, destroying not only the beauty but contaminate our wilderness areas.
Actually, it was Mr. Trump's favorite president, Andrew Jackson, who violated all the treaties the American government had made with the Indians. In history, if it is taught properly, reveals the "Trail of Tears" in breaking the treaties that diminished the amount of lad they had left after we STOLE it from them, bringing European diseas fir which they had no immunity and decimated their population. As an American History major at a top 10 University, l didn't learn of these violations until after l graduated, the awareness brought in the late 1960's and beyond teaching me what wasn't taught before then. There was no African American studies then. After the protests and assinations in 1968, a more enlightened curriculum was designed for actual American History was available, and l was lucky enough to be able to take extension courses, and also study medical courses which had always interested me. I still avail myself of those classes, and l am do old now, l could attend the University free!!!!

What I'm saying is that we take for granted the simple act of breathing the air that surrounds us. We ignore our environment, our biomes. If we continue to, we may find ourselves struggling to use what we've been taking for granted. (I mean, not all of us disregard our environment.)

I don't often think about how grateful I am to be able to see, hear, touch, have food readily available, close on my back, a home, a job, a car, being relatively healthy (NVM I think about that fairly often bc I KNOW that won't always be the case as I age).

I am an ardent mining enthusiast who has read and studied the history of mining throughout US history. Representative Porter is right. EVERY copper sulfide mine around the world, even those from ancient times, results in a toxic environmental disaster. Without exception. It is simply the result of exposing sulfide containing waste rock to the elements. Sunlight and water convert the sulfides to sulfuric acid. This inevitably pollutes ground and surface waters. It is inescapable. Even those in the desert southwest.
Katie is the most experienced leader, she knows this minning will hurt and ruin our country for hundreds of years! Stop this kind of minning in this pristine area of America. We have many other places to get this kind of mining done.!

Katie Porter is such a positive voice in Congress. Her upcoming absence from the House and Senate is a tragedy. Not that Adam Schiff’s voice isn't valuable as well, but Ms Porter is probably the most prepared representative to advance any topic she adopts. California made a mistake letting her go.

Katie is brilliant at this. In the 60's I I had the privilege of a two week canoe trip in the boundary waters. Magical memories. At that time we could dip a cup in the water and drink it. It's painful to see repugs fighting to ruin this.

As a Minnesota resident I don't want to get stuck with an environmental clean up bill. Don't believe me check out the taconite tailings that are causing mesothelioma in the miners and anyone living near the mines. My granddad was an olier on the iron range. He ended up with lung and heart problems from working in the mines. Not to mention that all this was strip mining. Our PBS TPT channel2 station did a documentary film called,"IRON RANGE: A PEOPLES HISTORY" all about taconite mining. We still have three taconite mines operating. I also don't want foreign owned companies in our state taking what belongs to us. Acid rain kills our land and people. Leave the Boundary Waters alone stay out of Minnesota.

Almost thirty years ago I went on a two week adventure to the Boundry Waters Canoe Area. During that trip I saw America as it was before Europeans settled here, before farming and industry, logging and mining destroyed ecosystems and put animal populations at risk of extinction. It was a privelege of a lifetime to experience a true wilderness unspoiled by industry. The Boundry Waters Area is one of the very last true wilderness areas in the lower 48. Some things are worth saving just for the benefit of future generations. We would gain small benefit as a nation from risking this pristine wilderness. It's hard to believe that at the time of that trip, we could drink directly out of the lakes without fear. We used sanitizers but could have used untreated water with little or no risk. This is just too rare and precious to gift to a mining company from Chili that has no stake at all in our future, but only a profit motive. Go get em Katie!

The democratic primary was won by Adam Schiff, amongst three contestants. Adam is not as good as Katie in my opinion, but he's a whole lot more qualified than the requglican (Steve Garvey, baseball fame) running against him.

I'm always impressed by Katie Porter & hope she gets back into the government after losing her primary. As someone who lives in Stauber's district, I can confirm that the Twin Metals proposed mining has been a hot topic here for a while. Environmental issues are real & the Range literally has a landscape that changes 24/7/365 with the taconite/ore open pit mining since there are several mines always operating. It does affect our environment, landscape, waterways, wildlife, etc. The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is a prized area for the region & it's pretty much untouched (as is the Canadian side).
Because the proposed site is north of the Laurentian Divide, the water flows north to Hudson Bay - it will be a possible water contamination issue for Canada as well. I am surprised that Lake Superior wasn't mentioned at all, considering it's watershed isn't very far away either.
I was pretty impressed with her speech - until she pronounced taconite incorrectly. I've lived my entire life (50+ years) on the Iron Range & never heard anyone pronounce it that way. My only criticism for her information was that the aid who wrote the info should've either prepped her about it or written it phonetically. The funniest pronunciation I have ever heard was a telemarketer saying Taco Night 😂. I love that Katie attends committee meetings/hearings & her other congressional duties prepped with the pertinent information to be productive! Some others are just there to create a scene to get attention.
Lake Superior was mentioned. If the Americans pollute anything on our Canadian side, we will go nuts. Our land belongs to the indigenous and we are honoured to use it. We are the true north, strong and free. Don’t mess with our environment. We don’t take kindly to it.

I was part of the team that was conducting the new round of reviews for these projects. When we went to the mining companies for the information on their tests which they had run on those sites in order to gather the data we needed to proceed to analyze all of the potential impacts both positive and negative they never produced those results from their studies. We were working with the tribes in the area which was my role in the project as well as with other experts in mining and in production of these minerals and the decision to halt these actions was because of lack of response from the proponents and the willingness to share the information that they had so we could complete our analysis and therefore the decision to stop the project and the administration's decision to set the society at this time we felt was warranted.

Schieff & a Billionaire repub both under cut her and Barbara Lee. Katie came in third for the two spot fight on Nov. It was open so 2 dems could make it to that point, Schieff, who has done good things too didn't want to run against Katie, so sabatoge was done. We don't want the repub in the Cal senate seat, but it wasn't fair to Katie. Such is why I stay an independent.
So let's keep Joe in and gain her in his admin. She is an inspiring Treasure.

Because she does her research and knows her subject. She's an effective speaker and uses logic and visual aids to prove her point. I personally would much rather see her in the Senate but anywhere in government where she can apply her skills will surely help the United States.
