Love that in the Variety piece when Spike Lee keeps asking "What did Steven think about the movie", Bradley kept saying, "You're gonna have to ask Steven" and then we get this video one day later.

“Maestro” is the most powerful film that I’ve seen in ages. When I was a little girl watching Bernstein’s “Young People’s Concerts” on TV my dream was to play under his baton someday. I’m a professional musician in part thanks to those concerts and his recordings that I all but wore out. Bradley Cooper BECAME Lenny on screen for me. The Mahler Second Symphony scene is absolutely one of the most powerful scenes in film history. I wept and had goosebumps all over my body. If only filmmaking and acting were always of this caliber! Bravo to Carey Mulligan for an equally glorious performance as Felicia. Surely she and Cooperate were meant to play those roles!

After having wept for several minutes following my view of the film Maestro ... and having recuperated my equilibrium nee breath ... I can honestly say this was not acting, this was beyond a tour de force (directorial) performance. Bernstein was revived through Bradley and the mysterious creative muses are fully alive. Astonishing.

Just imagine being Bradley Cooper...he's a self proclaimed student of cinema and filmmaking, and he's being interviewed by arguably the greatest filmmaker to have ever lived. He's being given compliments constantly by a man who directed films that Bradley would've grown up with, idolised, and learnt from.

Bradley Cooper is one of the brightest, fruitful minds in Hollywood! He’s been endowed with immense talent which is pretty much unique. I loved Maestro so much! I’ve been a music enthusiast ever since I’ve known myself and to someone like me who has had Lenny embedded in his life, the film was deeply precious. Mr. Cooper told the story so beautifully without doing any bit of injustice to Lenny and his life that revolved around music. The film flowed through me like aged bourbon and I can’t wait to see it again. Thank you so much Brad, you’re simply awesome!

27:51 Ive been waiting for this movie since it was announced. I watched West Side Story when i was a child in the 70s. My father loved playing a variety of albums, but I heard Bolero. LEONARD Bernstein conducted the London Symphony orchestra. I bought a cassette with my allowance money. When CDs came out, i bought that. After Vangelis and amongst so many BRILLIANT musicians, i desired to experience music and sound as best as i could afford. Headphones. Clarity. How music is recorded. How we hear and immerse ourselves and dive into a pool of so much human emotion. Its incredible. I always wondered why public schools called a class, "music appreciation". As if you needed to categorize or distinguish it. Its not political. Its not religious. It is so gorgeously HUMAN. THANK YOU for bringing your craft and newfound talent for this film into the world.

I found this film to be the most moving musical bio-pic I've experienced in 15 years . . . so compelling and virtuosic in its subtly, including Carey Mulligan's performance. Cooper's conducting of the Mahler just blew me away (his 4 years of prep didn't surprise me) and I had to stop the film after that scene on my computer and watch the rest the following day! This was also one of the few movies that I wish had been twice as long to find out more about the main character's early life and his compositional & conducting processes. After all, Bernstein was one of the first truly American Renaissance musicians - composer in different genres, conductor, pianist/accompanist, teacher/musical evangelist on tv - and being a diverse professional musician myself, I could really relate to his challenge to balance his professional & personal lives. I hope Cooper considers doing another ambitious bio pic, maybe George Gershwin or Bill Evans . . .

I'm going to argue that this film should win every award it's nominated for, but I really want to see Bradley and Carey win acting Oscars. Those were two of the best performances that I've ever seen.
And if there were an Oscar for "Best Scene," it would go to the Mahler scene at the cathedral. That was perfection. I think I held my breath during the whole thing.

I watched it today with my mother and she genuinely thought it was the real Bernstein at the beginning. His portrayal of the man, body language, looks, gestures is absolutely phenomenal. And that's even before I go into how incredible his conducting scenes are. I studied West Side Story at school for my O levels for a whole semester comparing it to Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet. It's been a giant in my life and seeing this really brought it all back. Bravo!

I loved the movie so much. It's brilliant, and Bradley Cooper is magnificent. I'm a musician and understand dedication to an art form. However, this level of aspiration and realization is stunning and inspiring. Some artists reach for the impossible and exceed their vision. This movie is perfection for me and it brings tears to my eyes to write this. It is a wonder of the human mind that such things can be created. "Westside Story" changed my life. "Maestro" is a fitting homage to greatness by a great artist, Bradley Cooper.

After I saw Maestro, I couldn’t help but think of De-Lovely and the similarities between them. Ok, I’m ready to see the film. I wasn’t interested at all until now. Not until this interview. Looking forward to it

It has breadth, depth and height.A gift for the soul.Any questions? Note the quote at the beginning and the line -Any questions?-said by each main character directly into the camera disguised as an interviewer.

I liked Maestro most of the time but I thought Cooper had a tendency to talk too fast, at least compared to the way I'd heard Bernstein speak. In the latter portion of the film, this changed however and it had a really fine ending.

Bernstein worked both sides, too: playing and directing NY Philharmonic. Several parallels between Bradley and Leonard.
