hope to see you in person at the next MN world fair.... w/t love ...Rodney Farva.
I love the honesty where he's not afraid to say something smells bad, or is old and dry. A lot of reviewers will beat around the bush and try to be creative in how they say it. This is why Sonny is THE BEST FOOD REVIEWER!!!

YESSSSSSS! Mark weins NEEDS TO LEARN !!!
@@luilui2719 Give Mark a piece of poop and I bet he'd still do his signature eye roll.
@@Maityist Mark Weins description of anything is just like my nephew, full of hhhmmmmm.
Sonny got the real tourist experience of being swindled lol. That's like walking down Decatur or Bourbon St for an authentic New Orleans experience.
i have a feeling that it is intentional. ive noticed slight political inferences throughout his content.
@@joshjones718 that would be implications. The person making the suggestion implies. The person reading into it infers.
@@arieldanielle23 i stand corrected but my point remains.
@@joshjones718 sure, you can infer what you want but I don't think wasting money at tourist stalls is making any deep political statement. 🙄
@@joshjones718 What did you notice?
The last chef is a LEGEND! Love his attitude and he is so genuine and kind.
“I love you man” lol he’s hilarious
Hi! Mercado de San Miguel is probably one of the most touristy places in Madrid… you can’t go there to get a real feel for Spanish tapas and gastronomy. I would have suggested going to Ponzano street (highest number of bars/restaurants per square meter in Europe) or to Retiro area. FYI, 70 days dry age is definitely NOT ilegal… there are many restaurants that serve meats that have been dry aged over a year (completely legal, delicious and also one hell of an experience). Next time your in Spain, give me a shout!! You also must try El Capricho restaurant in Leon (voted the best meat in the world by NY times amongst others). Keep up the good work. Peeeeeeeace!!
Yeah i doesn’t look like i would enjoy it at all or good at all
Should have just gone to Andalusia and spent the same amount of money with double or triple amount of food! (Definitely better quality too!)
He either didn't have a guide this time or his guide got his knowledge from lonely planet. What a shame
Was he at the San Miguel market in Madrid? He didn’t say…
@@ExpatUA The sign was right behind him at the start.
I'm from Madrid and I never go to that market (Mercado de San Miguel). It's really focused on catching the tourist's eyes and (in general) it's not worth the price of the product that you are paying. Loving this videos in Spain.
Stuff like those salmon rolls and the chorizo/octopus tacos makes me so bloody mad, love that you were honest about that haha!
🚀Sonny is honest about his food reviews, I respect that. 👍
bunch of scammers in Spain xD
even at that he isnt the most honest he can be he could just name drop the market lol
@@bigboy8285 at 1:14 it is shown. Mercado de San Miguel in Madrid
@@Bratzelise did he say they were bad? like how he was 100% honest with egypt
Sonny keeps it real! in the past, he mentioned his journey working with Network Television. He laid out the pro's and con's. Gotta respect a guy for not sugar coating.
I’m glad that you were honest about that food stall food not being good/old/stale. I wish more food channels would be honest

You obviously have never seen Andrew Zimmern and Anthony bourdain..
You all don't know biology then. In my perspective he is saying he eat foods that are actually bad for health (poisonous, microbes, parasytes, fungi and etc.) then got immunity and resistance by eating them frequently. And
I get the idea but he is basically saying the food is not clean or prepared in safe way.
Can we just appreciate that this guy never disappoints with content

A bit disappointing though, Madrid has always been renowned and proud of its food heritage, This looked like a tourist rip-off
Exactly. As a spaniard I'd never go to the Mercado de San Miguel. Expensive, bad quality and tourist oriented
@@tri0nic looks like a shopping centre food court made to look fancy.

@@AncientMysteriesAndInnovations I know dum-dum - but it used to be OK. Now its way worse than equivalent places such as Borough Market which are expensive but gourmet.
Yeah this looks like a big time tourist trap.
Best Ever Food Review, you are the greatest online culinary experience since IRON CHEF was on television. My five year and my 17 year old watch these videos with me and are completely astonished by your display of respect for the different cultures you guys visit and of course by the food. I must tell you that today we watched one of your videos and one of my sons tell me that he wants to be a chef. My heart melted and it brought me to tears. I've got 4 boys and they all know that I pursued a career to become a chef but I couldn't continue the pursuit due to financial reasons, but my 5 year old is very adamant about watching me in the kitchen and watching these videos with me and he is the one that told me that he wants to be a chef. Please keep creating these videos, they provide so much information about a world that most of us don't get to experience and if it can inspire a 5 year old to pursue a career that brings joy to people then you guys are doing the right thing. I love you guys and I love the videos! In some weird way these videos are like Reading Rainbow or an inspiration like the Bob Ross tv show but with food instead of books and paint.
And if you ever get a chance, please come to Southeast Texas, our food is a blend of Cajun/Creole, French,Mexican, Vietnamese, and Tex-Mex, its the most exciting feature of this section of Texas. The food is wonderful and the people are respectful. But please keep doing what you're doing, I appreciate you and I know that others are appreciating you bringing this type of culinary experience to our attention. Much Love!

The relief I had for you when you bit into that steak and enjoyed it 🤣! Im not gonna lie I was worried lol. Amazing to see all of this as usual!
He diden’t lol
@@MrAdamSvensson At 12:00 minute he said he loved it and its tender tasted nothing like it smelled lol
I was worried he wouldnt like it because it seemed the guy didn't trim the bad part of the meat off the steak.
Outstanding episode Sonny, love the ease that you have with the locals. A True Professional.
He went to the worst tourist trap in the city. How is that an outstanding episode? 🤷🏼♂️

One of the best food tour programs on UA-cam. The honesty, knowledge and variety of tested food are on high standards.
Yes some places in spain have the bad habit, unfortuntely, of prepring tons of tapas in advance and they can get dry, cold etc. Its a matter of knowing where to go and when. Those were extremely expensive and very disappointing for the price.
Well, that seems like a very touristy focused food market! Most of the offerings were tapas & snacks that have been sitting around for a bit! Not a place the locals would frequent, I suppose! The cure-dried salmon & the beef steak were my favorites!
Love your honesty in this video Sonny!
The tuna guys excitement to show his work warmed my heart
I hope you'll cover Korea once again and bring us to traditional dishes away from the city just like your Japan series with Shizzy. 😍
Mexico and Korea are to me Sonny's best adventure out there. Vietnam, Africa and elsewhere in Asia are just so full of blood, bugs and weird shit that me puke while watching the videos.
The last guy selling food was awesome! Everyone else was like scammers! so cool grate video!
Can we please acknowledge how Sonny is not afraid to eat anything.Hats off to you!
no no, he is. he just does it anyway
the moment your own hunger level kicks with a multiplikator from 1x to instant 10x. damn!
I love the shared love at the end with the steak man 😂
Some of the best food I ever had was in Spain and I still think about the dish 10 years later. This is really making me regret not visiting this year, and I almost did!
Sonny since I'm watching your show I have always wondered if you would ever come to Europe and you said in a video that you probably wouldn't go because it's not as special as some places on the Asian continent or Africa. So when you started to show up from Portugal and Spain I got sooo excited and I knew you had to go to my home country France 🇫🇷!!! Such a dream come true welcome to Bordeaux! 🤗 Forgive us for all the bad English speakers and I hope you found yourself a great co-host. I'm currently living in Finland so also hoping you can pay us a visit, there are definitely some great food experiences worthy to shoot here! 🇫🇮
I love how Spain uses the same tactics in promoting food as America, make it look really good in the case and then botch the product that actually go's to the customer. Nice job Spain
Found your channel a week ago and now ive been addicted to your content! Thank you So Much for showing us different food cultures . PEEEEEACE !
I am Spanish and very proud of our Jamon Serrano!!! Our food is awsome. Hope you have enjoyed a lot!!!
I love Spanish ham best of the world. Greetings from Germany
The market is Mercado de San Miguel which 10 years ago was incredible but now (and specially after covid) it is terrible. Sadly one of the worst places you could have gone to now as elsewhere Madrid's gastronomic scene is booming.
They put that salmon on that bread and made it look huge. That Tomahawk looked awesome. Got almost as much free food as you paid. Was fun to watch. Great video
Next time I'm in Spain, I'm going to meet that meat guy, he was awesome! Plus the look on Sonny's face at the first taste of the steak said all I needed to know.
Omg yummmm! Def on my bucket list
I appreciate this video on a subtle level. Sonny is doing a bit of a slick move here. This guy has lived in southeast asian countries for half his life and is a professional eater so I know for a fact he's seen every food presentation trick/con/hustle that's ever been invented. It ain't his first rodeo. He mentioned bad financial decisions up front. He got those foods on purpose to show the rest of us how stingy some vendors can be and what to watch out for. Or maybe he wanted to finally make the 100 Bucks for once, what do I know?
im surprised he didnt trim the rotten part
I feel like we need to ship the karens from america to spain because they would speak to everyone's manager about that food
I like that last guy with the aged beef, jolly sort
my heart almost dropped along with that king crab meat
As a person who has family members who own a bunch of farms in Spain that specialize specifically in Jamón Ibérico (and other meats), I'll explain why it is so delicious yet very expensive. The reason why Jamón Ibérico is so good and delicious, and it melts on your mouth is because Iberico pigs are expensive in general ( $ 4,500 USD - € 4,158 EUR per piglet). They have smaller litters, yield less meat per head, and take time to mature, which is why many ham producers around Spain cross-bred them with other varieties. Overall, they are also much fatter animals with veins of fat running through the muscle of the pig. This, along with the large amount of fat layering each ham, allows the Iberico hams to be cured much longer, resulting in a much more complex, intense flavor, with a note of sweetness that is unparalleled.
We also put them through a VERY strict diet throughout their lifetime. During the Spring and Summer months the pigs will eat grass, mushrooms, bugs, and herbs that are approved by us (the farmers). Then, from October to March, it is acorn season, with acorns falling from the dehesas. I will tell you this, the acorn is the favorite food of the Ibérico pig, and it will eat a lot of them!
So in conclusion, think of it like this. The Ibérico pigs are like the Wagyu version of Pork. Strict diet, careful lifestyle, and put them through a very selective and well-maintained environment in order to get the best results.
I enjoyed the video. some Spanish shop staff I met in my last trip are very friendly exactly like the steak chef and tuna belly slice chef in this video and offered me free samples of their food
Sonny that market is a tourist trap!! I live in Madrid and I would never go there. You should try real spanish food.
Sunny, pro tip for eating sandwhich and burger type foods. Don't just grab the bun with your thumb, grab it with your thumb and pinky, it'll make stuff fall out less. Trust me it sounds weird but it's very effective.
10:13 very cool how Sonny matched the guitar noises to the music in the video! Great job editor team! 👏👏👏
Now I wanna go to Spain and other places like you! Delicious foods!
12:09 🤣🤣🤣 even better when he looked over his shoulder lmao
You videos are getting better and better. Love this EU tour shows. If you did whole Europe I am sure it would be interesting.
Buñuelos are fantastic plain with sugar on top, they're like a cross between churros and doughnuts. I like buñuelos plain with no sugar. I say they're a cross between curiosity and doughnuts but I enjoy them more, but as a snack without squid ink, I think the squid ink was a mistake, stick to plain buñuelos or if you have a sweet tooth treat them like plain doughnuts and cover with plenty of sugar. I suggest eating them hot and freshly made, usually found where churros are freshly made maybe in some sort of outdoor market or van. If your feeling adventurous they are as easy as doughnuts to make. Enjoy!!!
man that tomahawk dude makes me want to pick up and just go visit Spain LOL
I like that chef throwing kisses in the air in the back loool
Sonny, you should come to the south of Spain, is super cheap and we have really delicious dishes you'd love to try!
Imagine Sony drinking sherry wine in Jerez
That's what i thought! He would be impressed by the people and food in Andalucía for sure :)
True, or even better, go to the north of Spain as well,

Yesss I love I how brother man speaks his mind and says what everyone probably would keep to themselves especially when it comes to getting what you pay for ✊🏾 #tentoesdown
My mans is just traveling the world hooking up free dinner dates.
So much dry old bread is super surprising
Love that lil chef bless, kindness is a rarity
I am a flag waving carnivore, but even on my best day, or 2 or 3 could I get through a Tomahawk steak like that one, I have never seen one aged like that & you'd have to really know your meat to get it just right, that was a pleasure to watch.
I never really had a reason to go to Spain... and this video didn't change that...
Sonny!!! You are crazy for eating that Tomahawk steak without being trimmed! The chef treated it terribly it for you! Never eat a steak that is dry aged without being trimmed of the hard/dry meat/fat. You can get sick really fast! Love the videos
That is the same thing I was thinking, I thought he was going to trim it when he said he needed to weigh it first, but he never trimmed it.

gosh i love watching this guy
I live in Spain and spent about 5 weeks in Madrid. The market you went to is easily the worst market I've been to in Spain. It's a tourist trap- and the food is mostly bad there (as you experienced first hand). Totally overpriced as well!
Hope you managed to go to some proper markets before you left Spain. I just got back from Bilbao the other day, and the pintxos at the market I went to were about 1.50- 3€..and the quality was amazing. 👌
The last guy knows how to keep people engaged to his food
very friendly
Sonny…… Loved the look of the small dishes. Your commentary throughout had me cracking up…..OMGEEE! Hahaha! It’s too bad that most of the dishes looked better than they tasted. The Iberico ham tho! One of my favs, and that tuna-wow! You’re a smart man, asking the guy to share that illegal tomahawk steak with you. You weren’t going to get sick on your own. 😂 I do need to know…. That piece of crab that you dropped…..did ya eat it?
Great video. Not nice a lot of the tapas were old or just not good for value, but a lot of them looked great!
Always love the fun you have in making this video's
Thanks for posting!
$75 is such a good deal for that steak, I would have taken one to go 😂🤘
Thank you for being honest Sonny. Those tapas looked awfully dry and tasteless. I don’t know how I feel about that steak either!
It's a place only for tourist. Those are not real tapas.
I'm from Spain, Valencia, and I think you went to a market made for tourist, not the real gastronomy. Please come again and make a actual spanish gastronomy tour. See the video series of Mark Wains. You can do it much better. Salud!!
Seen almost every video of Sonny. He have a stomache made of steel or something. Even when the food don't look or taste good, he still eats it anyway. Kudos.
Love the videos im eating 65% of the time I watch an episode
