Protip for this show... do not focus so hard on finding the background ghosts. I hate that some viewers tell reactors to pay attention to it and try and find them. No, don't do that. Especially if it's at the detriment of being able to fully absorb the story and what's happening on screen... and especially the fantastic dialogue, which I think sets this show apart from the vast majority of tv series. I've seen reactors unfortunately miss out on some stellar dialogue because they were focused on finding any background ghosts, dialogue that is kind of important in building some of the characters and which will come back around later in the series. If you see them, you see them. Let it happen organically. I saw maybe 2 of them my first watch through and that's ok. I later watched a compilation video with all of them but it in no way hurt my viewing to not notice them.
I love that you got Steven's character so quickly, very few reactors I've seen watch this seem to understand his character with the depth you did immediately. I also second the other comment that you would enjoy Midnight Mass.
I've been loving your Buffy reactions - so excited to see you covering this show, too! I feel like your thoughtful commentary is perfect for this series.
This is probably my favourite show. It's an incredible story. Also "that guys got glasses, he didn't miss anything did he?" I dunno why that cracked me up but the way you said it was hilarious 😂
I’m so happy you’re reacting to this show! It’s one of my favorite recent shows and it’s so well done! And I’m loving your reactions to Buffy so it’s great that I can join you for another reaction. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season
Oh yay, I'm glad you're reacting to this series! It's been a few years since I watched it, but I remember it being really good and not your typical standard ghost story. I'm excited to rewatch it along with you.
I love dissecting this show and the rest of Mike Flanagan's ouvre. There's so much to pour over and explore, all the psychology and philosophy... I'm super psyched for episode 2!
Update: @TylerAlexander , now that you've finished, check out how on-point your prediction was at 9:58. Gosh darn, i love these. Srsly, plz never stop doing these. But listen. Listen, Tyler. I refuse to take you seriously unless you watch these IN THE DARK. DO IT. Tyler. Please. Do it. Turn them off. 😁😁😁 Ohhhh gosh. i cannot WAIT to see your reactions for the rest of the episodes!!!! Also, you foreshadowed something perfectly, but no spoilers. I'll remind you of it when it happens. Came here for Buffy, stayed for Hill House (and also for Buffy)! 😂
This show will be great for your style, can't wait to see it. If you enjoy it there's also haunting of bly manor. Not a sequel but it's made by the same people.
I recommend this showrunners other series Midnight Mass. I thought the themes were quite interesting in regards to mobthinking/hysteria. Not scary, a little gruesome. I’d also love to see what you think about the Watchmen mini series with Regina King. (If you haven’t already seen it.)
tip, turn down your lights or record later in the day for a more immersive effect, or for us viewers to have a more pleasant time watching, as the bright light from your video, compared to the actual show can be intense. just a tip. if you cant do that, edit your video to lower the lighting please!! its really hard to watch
This might make me brave enough to finally watch this show. I've tried twice but can't make it through the first episode, just makes me too tense. Your compulsive checking over your shoulder is too real. I'd have to watch with my back to a wall. Weirdly, I watched the sister show to this one, Haunting of Bly Manor, and found it compelling and heartbreaking and really enjoyed it. Granted, yes, it was creepy af but it was also beautiful.
I was scared to watch this too but the horror elements become an afterthought once you connect with these characters. It is truly superb and worth multiple watches. I still pick up on new things when watching reactions to this amazingly crafted series.
Sure, it's over a year since you posted this, but I think between the religious and the atheists, you still have the agnostic. Those are people who don't conform to religion, but do believe there's _something_ out there. Whether it's ghosts and spirits, an astral plane or some demons or gods that don't conform to existing religions - that's a broad spectrum they can believe in, and many only believe parts of it. So to me that sounds like you're somewhat of an agnostic, just like me. To me, there's more to the world than we know of, or see. Sometimes something becomes visible, or slips over into our perception, or we simply _feel_ their existence in some way, things we can't explain - yet. In that sense Steven phrased that quite well, in calling it _prenatural_ . Do I believe all the stories about ghosts are real? Definitely not. Do I think there are some stories about them that are true? I believe so. But generally the people who've actually experienced such things don't flaunt them, because they're horrified by them. Those stories usually don't spread, so most ghost stories tend to be exaggerations or simply false conclusions, as Steve points out. It's why most 'professional' paranormal investigators tend to find very few cases that prove paranormal activity, because they can usually be explained through logical means.
Maybe it's just my own Christian bias, but "spiritual but not religious" has never struck me as an even remotely uncommon position. It's always struck me as the "I don't want to commit to any genuinely debatable philosophy" position. Able to shut down discussion with any specific religious position with "but why trust this specific revelation of supposed spiritual truth", and able to shut down discussion with hardcore atheists with "but why assume science is the definitive best way to understand existence". But not committing to any actual philosophy about the nature of the human experience and how it relates to our place in the universe.
Exhaustingly chatty and political, especially with the quips after every line of dialogue. I'm gay and a non-believer (potential alignment of beliefs) but not a fan of the style. You be you, but I won't make it past the first episode.
With your views on religion I’d love to see your reaction to Midnight Mass. it’s also directed by Mike Flannigan and is a very deep criticism of Catholicism, as Mike grew up very imbedded in the Catholic Church.

Oh yeah don't worry I'm not gonna be looking harder for those 🤣
Thank you. It burns me up whenever first time watchers try to look in the background.
It's fun to do on the 3rd or 4th watch but, yeah, it's the plot lines and character motifs that really make the story incredible.
This is the perfect show for you to hyper-analyze/do a thorough character study of! You will definitely enjoy 👍🏻
The Haunting of Hill House is absolutely flawless in my opinion. I can’t say that about any other show I’ve seen. It really is a masterpiece.

Have you read the novella? It's fantastic.
This is what commentary channels are all about. And you've got it. You're truly the best commentator I've come across. Great job. Subscribed
This is one of the most amazing shows created and executed. So excited for this journey

Good insight into Steven.
Oh and I love that you kept checking behind you. LOL. I think I did that too
I love dissecting this show and the rest of Mike Flanagan's ouvre. There's so much to pour over and explore, all the psychology and philosophy... I'm super psyched for episode 2!
Ooh yes! So excited to see you react to this show! Another one of my favourites!
Ooooh yes, this is an excellent show - one of my very favourites. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Welcome to Hill House. 😧
the five children are the five stages of grief, that blew my mind the first time
oldest to youngest Stephen is denial, Shirley is anger, Theo is bargaining, the boy twin is depression, and Nell is acceptance
the word I would use to describe Christianity is ostentatious
I recommend this showrunners other series Midnight Mass. I thought the themes were quite interesting in regards to mobthinking/hysteria. Not scary, a little gruesome.

Can’t wait to see more reactions to this show ❤
Well this was fun. Love seeing someone else shit themselves as much as I did 😂
This show is perfect for you to analyze, it's also bloody fantastic ❤
14:10 I love you for that
♥♥♥

This one is more creepy, but it’s also beautiful in its own way.
@@salyx Good to know!
I was scared to watch this too but the horror elements become an afterthought once you connect with these characters. It is truly superb and worth multiple watches. I still pick up on new things when watching reactions to this amazingly crafted series.
I’ve watched it since and I agree with you absolutely
Its great to see another reaction series. Please finish it though. There are too many who get in 3 or 4 episodes then stop.
Perfect show for you to react to.
There are so many random ghosts in random places. It is fun to try to find them
