- Hey Good People,
Sometimes I gotta work extra to get paid less if that make any sense lol. It's part of being a business owner. There are deadlines I have to meet in order to keep the train rolling, but sometimes there are obstacles that get in the way. And it can get annoying and frustrating.
Follow me along as I try my best to get things done on my day off.
Your favorite Mechanic,

Cats only like to supervise. They are master mechanics who know what is wrong with a vehicle the moment it comes into the shop. Their intuitive senses are the best scanners in the world.
I'm going to be honest. I honestly wish I worked for you. Right now I'm to the point where I'm about to leave the field. Stay who you are. God is going to give you many blessings.
How long have you been turning wrenches?
@@AlexTheCarDoctor ive been with toyota for 9 years and with midas 1 year. I see how honest you are and it really makes me happy to see that there are still honest mechanics out there. The places I worked at, they wanted me to upsell services when the customer didn't need it also they weren't even taking care of there workers so after a while I became a little bitter and unmotivated in this field and I know how I am, I work really hard but with how im feeling I feel like it will effect my work in the future and that wouldn't be fair to the customer that's why I've been contemplating on leaving the field.
@@loyallegend7243 it's great you have a conscience!! There's gotta be an honest shop around your area for you to work!!
I definitely would hate hearing others upsell unnecessary items!!
Honest mechanics becoming rare these days
Hang in there, Alex. You guys are the best , 21:08 doing all you can. Old fat Dutchman and God love you all! Looks like no lubrication on that engine. Wow. I hope the warranty does not give you a hassle. 😊
You guys are fkn awesome bro. The 30 min video seemed like a 5 minute video just so easy to listen along.
Appreciate it!
Hot tip use a leaf blower to blow bolt down out tight areas . Didn’t believe it till my fellow mechanic did it and got the socket and a nut we dropped and couldn’t find with magnets 👍🏻
Thanks Alex for another fine video!
Glad you enjoyed it! I’m trying my best to pump out more content.
This is the perfect video I was looking for how to take out an engine / transmission it shows me pretty much the process
I gotchu! Next engine come in I’ll record it for ya!
@@AlexTheCarDoctor thank u brother I appreciate
Awesome vid.. really enjoyed it.. can't wait till the next one..
Thanks a ton!
Good video. You seem like a very cool chill guy. I do a lot of diy repairs mainly on my own cars, but my neighbor is starting to take advantage of that and wants me to do repairs on their cars. The problem is i dont know how to price my repairs. Anyways, new subscriber here😊
Hey there buddy and thanks for the sub.check out Napa website it will give you a general idea of what the repair cost on labor and parts would be www.napaonline.com/en/auto-care/car-repair-estimator
Alex - phenomenal video - thanks for taking the time to share your expertise. I feel like the crank on the Charger motor would've been fine to use - but I agree on not running that engine - it looked terrible otherwise.
I thank so too, but when dealing with customers, I didn’t wanna take any chances man. Thanks for watching the video! 👨🏽🔧😎
I'm going through the same thing with a used engine in my 300 5.7 I decided to get a full rebuilt it's just best .. used engines always has a storey
i hate losing sockets. thats why i have multiple sets of sockets and extra sockets and wrenches in the most used sizes. sure, its a bit expensive to keep a little inventory of extra tools but its cheaper than wasting time. pawn shops and ebay are an excellent source of good, name brand, usa made tools at less than retail. yes, i know the tools dont make the mechanic but higher end tools make the job more enjoyable in my experience.
All I can say is WOW.
Used engines can be a real drag. Imagine if some diy person bought that engine not knowing the issues and installed it. Unless it is a low mileage engine, at least get a short block or even better, a long block that has been rebuilt. You will be much happier in the end. You did enough being your day off, time to relax.
hey bro tht sucks for tht engine tht was lack of oil and thts wht happen for a salvage yard lol its one in a good chance u will find one thts good its a game of chance good video looking for more and thank God u have a sence of humor. I do the Samethnig but got a dog instead of a cat 💯
Dropped my like
11:01 I’m the same way I collect everything lol I can’t help it
Wow 2 bad engines from the same place that’s crazy. I would not be dealing with that place anymore.
I'm doing engine swap today on a Nissan Maxima and it's Soo crazy a lot of parts and wire harnesses everywhere OMG
Lollygagging! I love that saying! Why do dropped tools hide so well?
I don’t know! It’s like they crawl around so we won’t find them lol
Engine question - I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4x4 With the 4.0L This truck is rust free and i really want to build it into a daily driver, well a more reliable daily. It has 194k Miles and although no issues yet my question is this. I want this truck to be reliable enough to drive anywhere. maine to florida etc. I really thinking new engine. Do i do a rebuild? A new crate? A remanufacture? What would you recommend ?? And do i replace with the same 4,0L or is there a better easy upgrade? I appreciate your advice
Would you guys hire a mechanic from out of town? I know the channel carwizard has had mechanics come from other states. Is this something you guys would be interested in? I always talk with my wife about selling and moving south(not fans of the cold climate). We enjoyed Georgia when we visited. Very responsible and hardworking
Your shop does a ton of engines. Charge em big $ to do that work since not many people wants to do it.
It’s either that or stop doing used engines. My wife and I are thinking it through.
What's going on with the Cutlass supreme?
Man, I wish I was there.I will go and help you fix those tires up clean up the shop
I appreciate that. My wife helps out when she can.
Hey Alex I’m 19 I love cars/trucks a lot, growing up I was always around cars, I currently right now work as a lube tech at a dealership I need advice from you cause one day I would like to have my own shop, do you recommend I go to school to get more knowledge on cars or do I stay at the dealership and just wait till my time comes to go in the main shop plus I wanna get really good at working on cars to where I can be able to almost fix everything and understand everything so I just don’t have one preference on certain cars, what do you recommend I do?
i’m not big on school, but that’s just me. I feel the dealership will put you through school for free while getting paid. That’s the best solution. remember, take your time and always double check your work and always be open to learn.
@@AlexTheCarDoctor thanks for the advice
I been wrenching for 14yr
Great chogreography
11:07 hey that could make for a good parts washer. Lmao somebody rich had it 😂
😂😂😂
Whats your take on first generation toyota highlander (01-07) are they solid?
Consumer reports gave them 4.7/5 stars, in NJ they get top dollar for ones with 180k miles and up, you can easily with proper maint. get 300k miles easily !! Good luck.
Very solid in my book just make sure the previous owner took care of it
that engine has a crack right above one of the bolt holes anyway lol. shits toast. the right bolt hole under the damper. RIP
Man its just you are you have help
It’s just me on Saturdays. I have help during the week.
Hopefully you can find another engine. That sucks 😕
They’ve sent me another one now. Thankfully it runs well.
@@AlexTheCarDoctor that’s awesome you do great work 👊🏻
Show people what your hourly rate is and add on $75 an hour if the customer has worked on it first. ;-)
See if the cat will hold a wrench.
Right! I swear he loves watching me do all the work lol
It's a dodge, the customer should be used to not having their car Dodge has been junk since the beginning.
This Guy clearly isn't a real mechanic, it doesn't take a whole hr to install an engine especially a front wheel drive car . Because I've seen on (Fast And Furious)movies Vin replaces a whole motor and transmission in 14 mins including the programming and nitrous..so these folks are definitely a fraud in my experience😅😅, and
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 man I’m trying to get like VIN man! Thank you for the laughter this morning 🍻
Was loving the video until I seen the shop dude . Get that trash out man
Already done. I’m too busy to clean sometimes so I have to do it periodically. Now if you decide to subscribe please know that my shop is never gonna look like a dealership shop. Clean, neat, and in order. My business is booming and I’m working non stop.
You don't like pastors. You do not like.
I can't even imagine how much money you will get for scrap metal with all those engines laying around.
The thing is I wanna keep some of them, they are actually good for parts but the wife wants to scrap them 😕
Alex the next time you post a video I better not see a god damn thing sitting on or against that clean cutlass you got don’t start that habit your going to end up with light scratches dents and dings aka from one Chrysler lifter roller rocker changer to another
