Visiting my mother in law in Aiea next week and finally bringing my clubs on a trip. Would you play Ko Olina or Royal Hawaiian, if you could only play one? (I'll play the other on our next trip)
I know this guy! Sort of - haha. Appreciate you getting me setup for a round on 2/4/24! Trying to do some research before we get there. I'm scared yet equally excited!
One of the hardest and most beautiful courses I’ve ever played. I’m an 11 handicap, played the tips and was thrilled to get out of there with a 92 and only minus 4 balls. Had a wonderful time. Will definitely be back!🩷
Today I had a strange experience at the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club. I went to the club to play golf with a friend two days ago. I bought it because I liked golf FJ shoes at the club. I went round the first hole in my new golf FJ shoes. But my front and back of the left ankle skin pain. It was so painful that I changed it with my old golf shoes. After finished 9 holes , I went to the shop and told employee that the left shoe was the problem. I odered for a different pair of shoes. Or refund. However, the staff said that the soles of the shoes had blue stains and could not be exchanged or refunded. That day, my friend and I gave up playing on the backline in the second half. The female staff was strangely unfriendly to us, and after talking to someone on the phone without solving the problem, she closed the door and pretended to go. (The neck of the high shoe is raised, and the uncomfortable and rough part hurts the ankle. I pulled the socks on, but it hurts, so I took them off.) I wanted to replace the problematic shoe with another shoe. I told the other employee wearing a red T-shirt who worked there, and he told me to come and change it tomorrow. Two days later in the morning I went to the golf course. The blue stains on the shoes (I checked the blue chemical sprayed on the grass) were wiped clean and removed. However, the male employee ignored me and was rude. He said Yesterday my friend called the police and told me he couldn't change shoes or give me a refund, and he told me to leave. I went out and was talking with another employee, and a male employee of the store asked me to enter the store. He told me to wait. The manager from the management office told me to wait for a while, so I sat in a chair and waited. However, 15 minutes later, two police officers entered the store. The employee lied to the police that I was trespassing. Police said I was banned from the golf course for a year and would be arrested if I entered the golf course again. the police told me , I could file a complaint with management or file a complaint over the phone. Police said I could sue the male employee so that he could be fired. I said that if I get the golf course owner's signature, the one-year ban will be lifted. An unfriendly male employee told me three times that Mr. Kim, the owner of the golf course , He was no longer here. where is Korean owner ? I couldn't comprehend the staff fighting so hard with their customers. It was the first time his left ankle hurt from wearing FJ shoes. It was an incredible experience. If the owner or manager sees this message, keep an eye out for the staff at the checkout. Very unfriendly to guests. And the employee asked the police to apply for a ban on entry of guests who were not at fault.
I haven't played every course on Oahu. However, I feel good saying yes. Royal Hawaiian is the one to play on Oahu. Play it safe! The jungle doesn't need any more golf balls lol.
I played there about 6 months ago. I also more found more than a few areas that were in need of maintenance. Still, I love this course! Saw a wild pig on 13, but no dinosaurs.
Anyone above a 12 handicap is gonna have problems here. Sometimes you can crush a drive into the fairway only to find it’s gone like rolled off the fairway into a 20ft ravine gone.
Playability isn't based on any particular tee box. Pointing out the distance and slope rating from the tips is just to give a general idea of how long and supposedly difficult the course is. My intent is not to imply that playing from tips is recommended, especially not for mid to high handicappers.
@@purplepidgin agree, I'm a 12 HC and I shot a 92 and lost 6 balls. On 9 I blasted a driver straight and it flew straight into the creek/ravine by the bridge, oops.
This one is a hidden gem!!! Don't tell to many people....ha ha
I play here once a week it’s my favorite course. Always a challenge.
Aloha! I’m Pierce, the Superintendent at RHGC. Thanks for the video review!

@@richardhurley9885I’m so sorry. I just saw this comment. Come play Royal for sure!
Appreciate the video I'm the Head Golf Professional at Royal Hawaiian. Job well done with the video.
Thank you! Hopefully I'll be able to make it back to Hawaii soon.
Hi, me, my dad and a friend are coming next week!! I can’t wait to be there ! It’s seems so nice !! ⛳️🌴☀️
Headed to Oahu in July and trying to figure out where I want to play. I think this video sealed the deal for me! Great stuff.
Glad I could help! Royal Hawaiian is definitely a must play!
You won't regret it Ryan.
I play here at least once a year... playing in the rain make this course impossible, but it's still fun...

Going in a few weeks... will definitely pack extra balls after watching this. Looks tight. But awesome.
Played here and also Turtle Bay. Both worth it and great experiences. 🤙🏻
I’m going in 2 days and can’t be more excited
Nice video, I'm torn between Turtle Bay and Royal Hawaiian, but I'm leaning towards Royal Hawaiian cause it looks gorgeous
You can't go wrong with either, but I'd recommend playing Royal Hawaiian first.
My go-to when I travel to Oahu.
Stunning looking course! Is this cart path only there?
No. But, if you go to close to the green or areas you shouldn't, your cart shuts down. The only warning is your cart starts slowing down.
Nice video. Miss you buddy.
Hardest course I’ve ever played!

Thinking about this course. If there is one course to play on Oahu, is this it? If not what one?

I just played there all of the green got infected and there were dead greens

Playability...3/5?.....mid handicappers shouldn't be playing the tips....thats probably why its aggravating.
