Tracklist:
1. Remake Remodel (0:07)
2. B.O.B. Medley (5:05)
3. Would You Believe? (10:54)
4. If There Is Something (14:43)
Saw them for the first time at Brighton Dome in 72 when I was 15 and saw Brian ENO in a cafe 2 hours before the concert. We got him to sign our 50p stall tickets. He told us to get down the front and really go for it!.. we did did and it was one of the most memorable evenings ever!
Amazing ! I had been given a small radio for Christmas and I heard this on first broadcast with the radio under my pillow. I was 11 years old.
You were one cool kid!
That's how I listened to John Peel too. Several years later than this but listening to Peel and snuggling up in my bed, loving the music and worrying about some shitty geography test at my Dickensian grammar school.
buh..... i was doin the same thing in the seventies....... nice memories
i wasn't allowed to stay up late enough to listen to John Peel until I was 16
I wasn't allowed to leave California for a place my radio would pick up the Peel show...
Amazing how fresh and electrifying you can sound 47 years after recording!
Wow I had no idea this amazing recording existed! This is the best stuff I’ve ever heard from these guys. Thank you John Peel!
Yes, it was released on a Swedish ( I think) bootleg called Champagne and Novocaine a very long time ago; I got a copy from a Canadian friend in 78, been playing it on and off ever since!
All this Roxy sounded like the future
The thing with this great group was their adapting totally retro ideas and infuse with a fresh coat of paint
That was the music they created and recreated 🧜♀️💃
it actually pretty retro sound for 1972
I thought this was Beautiful music from the future when I was very young..it still sounds the same..wonderful...
‘I would put roses round our door, sit in the garden..growing potatoes by the score!!’..always remember this line 😎👍
god bless John Peel and all the music that he turned the world on to!
robert m. And Vibracobra23Ennui. Thanks for the upload......
It’s remarkable how great he got bands to play. I never saw them live but this is the best I’ve ever heard Roxy play.
It was his job.
DEFINITELY...one of the greatest rock band!
FINALLY !! an unheard (by me) of an early rendering of "if there is something" !!!!!! my FAVORITE !!!!!
early Roxy were so good
Absolutely the Eno factor, more experimental less commercial ;-)
I am using the internet and am sitting down. I was born, and it's today or tonight
Don't be so sure.
they have good stuff all the way up to the end. Ace band.
Lou Stathis said that the only new music that came out in the seventies was Roxy Music, but he was a little crazy,to demolish all competitors as he did in a article in Heavy Metal,Metal Hurlant,if you dont know it,id better not say more.
LOve them still, after 40+ years......
I was there in the small audience at the Paris studio in London. They were so exciting. I remember Eno wearing white gloves working the synthesiser, and Phil M with his black & white chequered lenses in his glasses. A truly incredible evening!."
Truly - what an incredible performance to be present for!
David Bowie loved "If There is Something". He eventually recorded it with Tin Machine on their 2nd album. It is my favourite Roxy track, although it's a tough choice to make with so much greatness to chose from, especially up to Siren. Great version on Viva too.
Mine toooooo🎷🎼🎶🎵🎹🎹🎹🎹
I tried but I could never find music like Roxy music I wish we were back in the 70s and Roxy starts again I love it man
Early ROXY Takes Me Right Back ...........
ThomasJerome Newton I get it
The B.O.B. Medley is amazing!
Superb, weren't they.
Especially enjoy If There Is Something.
Bryan is superb.
Paul Thompson is magnificent.
They're a great band.
The Great Paul Thompson.....
Manzanera!
True
@@tobrukasmarduk7732 no manzanera yet
@@marguskiis7711 Thank you.
This should be released. My god this is so damn good!!!!
Theres a 2x boot lp called The Eno Years full of early BBC and Peel Sessions. Looks legit, sounds great...but is not an official release.
Probably will never see an official release either due to copyright/music industry b.s.
Import ?
It’s on the deluxe release of the first album
quite the moment in rock and roll history.
amazing music in our lifetime and we will never hear music created like this ever again!
Probably in the minority but gladdest that "Would You Believe" is included here--love that 50s groove it has...11:54! (Bow ba bow, bow be bow...Luv it!!)
Fantástico, Roxy Music de mis bandas favoritas,
desde México escuchándolos.
If it hadn't have been for Peely we would all be listening to Europoop
To right big tone the kids are listing to shite like k pop and they look like a bunch of Nancy boys on utube .this is real mans working class music regard g boyle nz.
Ahead of their time. Old tunes are a breath of fresh air compared to what's on offer these daze.
Bloody brilliant .
Loving this......can't beat early Roxy......
Fantastic session, thanks for the posting Vibracobra23, you struck gold with this one.
I recommend following vibracobra...so many amazing peel session uploads...thank you vibra-slap!
@@DaveAnchovies Hi Dave, Yes, I do follow Vibracobra - I have many of his postings on my favourites :) Superb channel!
How exciting to hear the early Roxy sound- thanks.
The beginning of Roxy Music.....
Bob Medley melts hard!!
Early Roxy gems great sound quality too.
Manzanera’s guitar is more prominent in this mix than on the album. It’s nice to hear even more the licks he is playing. What a great guitarist.
It's not Manzanera.....
@Cathode Roy O' List left before the first album.
Its David O`List, erratic as he is.
Looks like Manzanera was a big fan of O'List, and replicates the O'List guitar parts on the actual album
Discovered Roxy by accident when I picked up "Street Life". After this Eno's solo albums and Roxy Music's stuff were all I listened to for several years in the 70's.
Still inspires me to this day
Would you believe I was 5 days old when this session was recorded? So fresh, doesn't need a remake, and neither do I as a matter of fact..
Renegade Soundsurfer . I was 12 yrs old and I agree this rendition is Fresh, however I could use a remake, remodel.
Surf on . . ..
I was a fetus when this was a recorded and I remember hearing this session through the walls of the uterus. It sounded a little muffled but still a great performance.
Or a remodel.
Thank you so much, Vibracobra23Ennui. (Nice nom de plume!) Ferry's passionate breaking voice at the very end of IF THERE IS SOMETHING matches if not surpasses the recorded vocal on their superb debut. Wonderful session from the art rock lads. RIP Peel...Appreciations.
Brilliant
...when you were young.

The Grass Was Greener.........
STILL Am ! ! ! IN My HEAD Which Is The BEST Place FOR Me TO Be ! ! !👍
@@martinmcdonald4207BUT You STILL Had To MOW It ! ! !😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wow; Eno really shines through on this stuff!
The keyboard parts are actually by Ferry, Eno makes some noises only.
Dont forget the covers!
What's up, Bug? Shoulda figured you'd be a Roxy Music fan.
I wouldn't even know Eno was in the band if I hadn't read the credits. He is pretty great, but Ferry owned Roxy. Surrounded by a great band...understated but every member was pretty solid, but not overwhelming.
Love the alt versions. Theres a boot
Its good he didn't last long or we'd have missed his fantastic early solo albums.
@@DaveAnchovies He could sing those backing vox so well in RM, well needed. Bizaaar
Thanks, really great versions of these songs!
Sweet!
Peel Sessions rule!
ThankYou for another Gem Vibracobra, UA-cam with all You have posted is so much more of a treasure, always exciting to cross paths Vibracobra!
Exquisite!
Absolutely brilliant 😍
This band has long earned an introduction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and it was done in 2019! Congratulations from Poland!
The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame are honoured to have Roxy Music rather than the usual meeting of band and said institution. Considering some of the acts it has honoured over the years it has managed to delute it`s own standards. It`s not as prestigious as it would like to think it really is. The bar has been dropped too many times over recent years.
Who gives a shit about that institute!
@@martinmcdonald4207 Couldn't agree more.
rockn roll hall of fame is a joke!
After siren, they took a break, were never the same,
These are better than the albums versions - especially Remake Remodel. Much wilder, and possibly better produced.
Manna from Heaven!
Then Manzanera from the Stars!
BOB Medley reminds me of the Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis , only 10 years sooner! Brian Eno really is god.
Fantastic, thank you so much for the upload.
I can't help thinking of the Bonzo Dogs x
03:20 DAY TRIPPER.
Awesome and innovative Sound
THE MILLS UP NORTH STILL USED TO RING OUT THE AIR RAID SIRENS TO CALL WORKERS BACK TO THEIR CHORES... STRANGE CONCEPT.
" The Seeds Of Musical Sophistication And " Brilliance " Had Been Disseminated " Throughout This Vintage Peel Session " !!! From Adrian Browne 1965
My dad said the same about the Beatles. I guess we are just getting old.
Zappa lives!
Thanks
Superb !
Something new I found on U tube. Well just in time for there 50 th year tour. Hope they tape one of these shows for a live album.
peelie always sed the ONE band he didn't see coming was roxy music, they just turned up fully formed like they fell from the skies
As though he had some kind of second sight.. /sarc
The vocals of the first song remember the great David Byrne of the great band Talking Heads. Cool session. 🙂
Interesting...reminds me of Lou Reed/Velvets...
Perfection ! Ahead their time !
MUCH better than the album !!! why ???
Peel.
Maida vale studios I'm assuming. The sound engineers they had down there knew how to get the best out of every performance.
As others said, great BBC engineers, so like a lot of The Fall's stuff, sounds better than the album. Also, Pete Sinfield's production on the first album left a lot to be desired.
Brilliant.
The original recording RM, with David O`List on guitar!
😀😀😀😀😀😀GODBLESS JOHN PEEL FOR MY MUSICAL EDUCATION!!!😀😀😀😀😀😀
but Ferry is great on "If there is something"....
I stand corrected. According to Wikipedia, O' List was still in the band until February 1972.
I prefer the early Roxy Music with Brian Eno on Keyboards
Well, you mean knobs and switches for the most part...LOL (Ferry played the more conventional keyboard parts...)
eno was still with them when they did this ,, what you on about ?
Yes but he didn't play piano - he played the VCS2 and tapes
Biriyani Ferrari Can You imagine if ENO hooked up with Floyd?
You stupid Eno was there ya numb nuts...
the david o list line up of nice is the only one I like.he does a great job here as well
Pretty sure O' List was long gone by this time.
That saxophone, though...So ahead of their time, it could be 80s
2080's too!
Roxy Music are Bryan Ferry - Brian Eno - Andrew Mackay - Phil Manzanera - Paul Thompson
AND...Eddie Jobson!! (Can't/shouldn't be excluded IMO)
Phil ain’t in this outfit- it’s David O’List. PM joined a few months later
With Maestro B-Eno ...THX !
If the term "ahead of their time" wasn't coined for Roxy Music, then who?
They also played Seabreezes that night.
They recorded it, but it wasn't included in the original broadcast. It was though included in a repeat. I've uploaded all of the individual tracks, including Sea Breezes, to my Vibracobra23 Redux channel, and if I have to reupload this session any time then I'll redo it to include that too.
Oh yes.
Lol before putting in the "ooh, show me"
Amazing! You must check out the film we are making about the band's original bassist Graham who played on the album! And the first Peel session in Jan 1972.
BadLittleCookFilms
I'm amazed and think I'm right that they stopped playing the BOB (Medley) after '72. This for me is one of their top 3 songs and quintessential Roxy, which so much can be done with live. Anyone know why it was dropped?
One of my favorites of theirs, too. Great to hear at least this live version...!
The same "reason" Eno left (was eased out of) the band, if you get my drift...
@@richrol58 it got all the girls?
🔥
Quite amazing, some of the songs are a bit different than on the first Roxy, and i guess David o List on guitar, before mr
Manzanera joined the group.
Yeah, it's O'List playing exactly like he did in the Nice. Loud and barely in tune.
I love O'List's style here, it's very brash and loose, unrestrained but expressive and skillful. Just perfect for these songs.Fits in well with the whole band -- everyone is just going at it headlong, no holding back.
According to wikipedia, he was only with RM for about four months.
Does that mean O'List mostly came up with the guitar riffs for these songs then (like that great opening riff on If There Is Something)? That's a bit of an "eye-opener"...
@@richrol58 I imagine the songwriting credits tell the full story.
A very obvious "White light white heat" influence going on here lol
growing potatoes by the scoooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......................................

!!!!!!!!!!!!
Radio Caroline Bootleg Radio!!
It's O'List
Yes what a pleasant surprise, I adored the NIce, and didn't know that O'list was in early roxy. Great guitar work, this recording brings back the early excitement that surrounded Roxy.
I tought there was ""Sea breezes" too ...
👁 El ojo
*............To Robert E Lee I'll showhit*
CPL5938!!!!
I'm pretty sure this is pre Manzanera. Sounds like Davy O'List on guitar
Oh most definitely. He's all over the place like he was in the Nice (maybe even more frenetic). His playing sort of disregards what his fellow musicians are playing or the actual piece of music.
Still some of the most subversive music ever made by human beings . . .
is this session on the First Kiss bootleg?
Davy O'List guitar
Was Graham Simpson still in the band at this point?
Yes. It was recorded in January 1972, he left in March.
I was 10...
I was a fetus. I remember it all.
9
Is it David O’list or Phil Manxanera on guitar?
Davy O'List
