    Thanks for taking one for the team. The plastic was still tore up a little, but at least I know that it can come apart and how. Thanks again.

    Well this officially settles it! I can now say I can find just about anything I need to on UA-cam! I have already bought a replacement hose/handle once...(the come as one piece) and now it has split as well.
    if I keep buying new hoses every time it splits, pretty soon I will have spent enough to buy a whole new vacuum. And I hate to throw an otherwise perfectly good vacuum into the landfill over such a small problem.
    I've ordered the proper bit set (mine are tamper proof) and hopefully I can continue to solve this recurring problem until the rest of the vacuum needs to be trashed.
    Thanks a million for the video! I really did want to see if my idea is even possible before spending the money on the new bit set!

    From one Clint to another, thanks for posting this. :-) I had to remove a very large ink pen from inside of the hose of this same model. After removing the pen, I noticed the grounding wire and plate that I had NOT noted before taking all apart. Seeing how you had it lined up at 6:50 saved the day for me. My vacuum is back to 100%! Great video!

    That lavender vacuum of yours looks like an NV 22L. I got one of those that I trash picked last year. No problem with the hose on that one, but I just trash picked a shark navigator model UV410 today, that does have a hose problem. It also needs the bottom of the dust cup, as well as a good cleaning.

    I looked at several shark hose repair videos before I found this one with the secret sauce. I had the same problem, took screws out but could not figure out how to get the clam shell completely apart. I was depressing the red button and trying to slide the end piece off but wouldn't budge so I figure i'd better do some you tube research before I end up breaking it. Now I see how it comes off I have confidence I can complete this. My only concern is the red button so I will need to figure out if I can get the tube off without removing the button or I will have to figure out how to remove it with out breaking it. Thank you for providing this critical part of getting this hose assembly apart.

    Very helpful, thank you. I was wondering what held the hose in there.. I did not think to un-screw it, instead I thought it might be glued and I would have to buy the hose with the couplings for our Shark Rocket. But I could not locate anything like that on line. Hopefully I'll be able to put Humpty Dumpty all back together. The Rocket model has to come all apart to get to it's broken hose.

    • @ClintMoar
      @ClintMoar  5 років тому

      I don't know about the Rocket. I don't believe the hose was glued. Because the hose was more "rubbery" than Plastic it seemed to grip the threads better. Again, not sure about a Rocket. Good luck and thanks James.

  • @zrulz
    @zrulz 8 років тому +3

    You can put a little dishwashing liquid or hair spray on the hose to help it screw all the way into the fitting. You cannot wait long with hair spray or it will get sticky. A little dab of hand soap or dishwashing liquid like Dawn is best. Put it in the threads inside the fitting and a little on the outside of the hose. THERE IS USUALLY ENOUGH HOSE IN THE SHORT BOTTOM HOSE THAT I CAN AFFORD TO CUT ABOUT 3 INCHES OFF AND THEN SCREW IT BACK IN.

    • @ClintMoar
      @ClintMoar  7 років тому

      Yes thanks +zrulz. I have used the dishwashing soap trick to. That would make it even easier.

    Hi Clint, I can't find any answers to my Shark issue! I bought a cordless duo last year but as I'm in Ireland they say I'm not covered under the 5 year warranty.
    I have checked every thing, bought a new floor nozzle, then a new motir/handheld, then new filters....the machine at first stopped picking up and switches off after 4 mins due to overheating, then the floor nozzle arrived, picking up but now the dirt/dust bypasses the bin completely and clogs up the nozzle and tubing causing it to still switch off. . I have done all the trouble shooting I can think off, plus it costs a fortune to keep calling them from here.
    Please can you help.....at the end of my tether with it!!

    • @ClintMoar
      @ClintMoar  5 років тому +1

      Gee Connie, I'm not sure. The only thing that comes to mind is the Shark has some kind of safety feature to turn off if the filters are wet/damp. When I clean them, I have to give them a long time to dry before using. Hope you solve it.

      @pyt7778 5 років тому

      @@ClintMoar Hi thanks for your reply. With the new floor nozzle it seems to be picking up better, I have new filters in the machine. But now, the dust/dirt is completely bypassing the dust container and going straight into the noozzle and tube, so it still switches off after a few minutes because it's getting clogged up.
      Any ideas why this is happening?

      @pyt7778 5 років тому

      @@ClintMoar Sure, it'd 'be great to get some feedback on it. As I say, now it is picking up, but the dirt is not going into the canister, Just blocking the handheld nozzle and sometimes the long tube(main body of the Duo clean). The canister stays practically free of any dust or dirt. And its costing a bomb to keep calling Shark UK from Ireland, and they won't call back.
      Getting fed up with it now, I love Shark when it's going well, but I never had any issues with a Dyson, so next purchase I might switch back....was hoping that wouldn't be for a few years yet though. Thank you again Clint.

    Hi Clint, I just bought a Shark NV 830 *Duo Clean brushes and love the machine
    but HATE how short the hose is. Do you think there is any chance of using your
    method to splice two hoses together?
    I do realize that by making the hose longer I might loose some suction, but
    having the dirt cup falling over on me while dusting when trying to reach more than 3 feet
    away is madding.

    • @ClintMoar
      @ClintMoar  4 роки тому

      Hey. I did a bit of research and it is difficult to say how easy it would be to replace. I wouldn't recommend trying to splice though. You could possibly try to change the hose yourself though you'll have to be comfortable with either jerry rigging of things don't go perfect or possibly having to take it to a vacuum cleaning repair company to finish if you can't complete it properly. I guess it depends on your comfort level and if the annoyance outweighs the possible repair costs. Good luck. Let me know what you decide to do!

      @@ClintMoar I would have to go look at it but I believe so. I have had to duct tape mine for a few years. I bought it 5 years ago. I do however want to thank you because I did fix it with your help. Felt good to do it all by myself...with a bit of help from you! :) it sucks again like it did when brand new. I was about to throw it out. Took longer to unduct tape it than fix it.
