The DJI Mavic Air is the perfect balance of size, performance and price. It has a 4K camera, 3 axis gimbal and is amazingly small for a drone with this many features. In many ways, it takes the best parts of the DJI Mavic Pro and the DJI Spark and combines them into a very portable package. If you are wondering if the Mavic Air can live up to the hype, you should watch this video!

According to the rumor, Mavic 2 is a litter bigger than Mavic 1 and will have 1'' sensor. Obviously, it is designed for different market segmentation compared with Mavic Air. Think about the difference between Macbook Pro and Macbook Air. Just the same arrangement like Mavic Pro (2) and Mavic Air.
I have always wanted a quadcopter that was small enough to toss into my backpack which I could carry around with me, yet not notice I had it. But it also had to be able to capture stable quality video.
So when the Mavic Air came out, it was exactly what I was looking for.
This is the drone that caters to my specific uses.
On the negative side, everyone says it is very loud, like a swarm of buzzing bees.
Hopefully future versions are quieter, cause you don't want people to notice you're flying it, and then complain.
Hopefully one day I'll be able to afford one, cause it is the quadcopter I've always wanted.

I look at it as more of a spark than a Mavic and I’m sure they could have easily marketed it as a new spark but I sure do love it

Thumbs up I like the video I love the quad I bought one flame red also the only thing I think you could have pointed out that you didn't is that the front legs aren't just landing gear the are receiving antennas and it's very important to have them extended at all times during flight keep up the good work
When I saw all the intelligent flight modes all I could think about is how cool that would be to see it 😀

I just received my mavic air yesterday. I can't wait to play "Jedi" and control the drone. I will first, of course, fly with the controller to get a feel of how it flies, follows, and it's autonomous features.
DJI keeps on delivering! Very happy with my Mavic Pro. But this just seem better...smaller, better camera, rear sensors, faster, better obstacle avoidence etc. This will definetely go into my kayak hatch. Exciting times, thanks for the video! Thumbs up from Sweden

Totally agree. This is definitely a step up from the Spark, but similar flight characteristics.

Depends on what you want to do with it. Unless you are using it for high end Hollywood productions, I think the Mavic Air will meet your needs. I'll do a footage comparison soon, but for now, you can see some of the footage from this video and decide. Thanks for watching!

I just ordered mine and really need to understand how track myself on a mountain bike ect.
How do you do that?
Do you have to hold the controller while tracking?
Can you track yourself from the hand gestures mode?
How far can you go? etc.

I think they should name it as Spark Air or Spark 2. For me it's seems more like an upgrade spark. Anyway that's a cool little drone.

DJI must really want publicity with this one. They sent the drone out to every tech reviewer on UA-cam. Not surprised it leaked before release.

That really is for the best. With the Mavic air in professional hands for a few months, they'll be the first to find kinks and bugs in the drone before more people get their hands on it. They'll no doubt be some patches when the public gets the Air that can only help it in the long run.

i still have a major hump for Dji as a company but this Air is pretty impressive...i will be ordering the Autel Evo today or tomorrow but i have to think about this abit now

Well done first look by a mature enthusiast, no theatrics. I was leaning heavily towards the Autel Robotics EVO but at almost half the price point, the Mavic Air is really making sense!

have the phantom 3... it is not good for traveling, I find myself checking in the backpack which costs additional. I need this or the spark

At 570 notes it’s not to bad. A mavic pro but smaller ..
1:40 no it doesnt charge them at the same time. It starts with the one that has the highest charge, and if that one is charged, the one with the second highest charge and if that one is charged...
Cool little quad. But honestly, I was hoping for a phantom 5, possibly with some sort of wind speed/direction sensors. ☺

Nice review. Its impressive something so small has a 4K ability. I might have to pick one of these up in the future. Something you put in the car with you because you never know what you might run into. I cant really do that with my other drones. Its sorta like leaving the house with your cell phone. Thanks Kelly. Great review! Footage looks crisp and easily on par with what I get out of the Mavic Pro. While everyone would of course love to have a 1" sensor and more camera improvements, I'm still completely sold on the Mavic Air. As a travel drone it really can't be beat for size/performance. Looking forward to my order's arrival next week.

Great first impression review. I was going to buy the Mavic Pro but as a cyclist and motorcyclist this form factor and no lack of video quality suits my needs.
I have a question for you. Your footage appears smooth and non "steppy" like many others I've seen. I'm no expert but is that due to post editing software or settings on the drone? It's the only thing stopping my purchase. I've read it could be 30fps rendered to 24fps??
