The Mentor lore is an interesting addition. In that continuity, we have nine of these pairs.
I’ll start with Big Wing, mentor to Trickdiamond. Big Wing allowed Trickdiamond to have a sort of lax life of drifting. After Big Wing was killed by Devestator, an event which was covered up, Trickdiamond figured this was a final lesson to make the most of her life. This led to her falling in with Swindle and Starscream, betraying the former to be rewarded by the latter. Not sure if Big Wing would be disappointed of the crowd Trickdiamond fell in with.
Next comes Alpha Trion, mentor to Ultra Magnus. Trion seemed to teach Magnus to be merciful and caring towards the enemy, especially when they lose and get wiped from history. Given Magnus was one of the Great Generals during the War of the Threefold Spark, this was likely very necessary advice. And later on, Magnus goes through much effort to rescue Trion from Soundblaster, even almost falling into a black hole. A good pairing to each other.
Next is Wheeljack who mentors Gears. Wheeljack is very supportive and always gives Gears encouragement, never getting mad at how Gears keeps floating off the Winged Moon leading to constant rescues by Cosmos. Wheeljack even gets angry at Huffer for being cynical to Gears, even if Gears has stuck with Wheeljack longer than the two kilocycles (years) that mentees stay with their mentors. Given how happy the two are to be reunited later in the war, I get the feeling Wheeljack would absolutely sacrifice everything for Gears. Heartwarming, aren’t they?
I think Cryak absolutely raised Starscream to be a Cybertronian patriot, to care deeply for Cybertron. Starscream’s treacherous side developed during those early kilocycles leading to Cryak getting the same impression of Starscream as everyone else. When it comes to his scheming, I think Starscream’s love for Cybertron leads him to want to be close to the powerful by any means to judge if they are right for the job. He certainly has no qualms using blackmail to become head of intelligence under Sentinel Prime, costing Soundwave his job. Starscream must have a similar view of Sentinel that Megatron did, someone who was asking Cybertron to sacrifice itself for the rest of the galaxy. So despite Starscream’s scheming, he’s actually perfect for the Decepticons because his beliefs match up with the faction.
Next is Arcee and Gauge. Arcee’s girlfriend Greenlight counts too. Arcee is clearly very defensive of Gauge, willing to confront or even fight others who hurt her in any way. Greenlight also worries about Gauge’s future as the war begins. And after their adventure with the Reversionists, the two older bots are willing to let Gauge question their judgement, showing their open to her making her own decisions despite being so young. A nice group.
Now we get to Shutter, mentor to Bumblebee. We don’t know much about her, but she did teach Bumblebee about how Cybertronians are tied to Cybertron thanks to the metals they are made up of and about the duality between light and darkness. She’s also caring towards other young Cybertronians given how she sympathetic she is towards Cliffjumper being forged right after Bee, but having nobody but Sentinel to greet him. I think Shutter taught Bee well.
As for Bumblebee himself, we see how things go with Rubble. He had a hard time getting the young one to concentrate, but did recognize Rubble had an interest to become an engineer. In the end, Bumblebee prioritized his friendship with Orion which technically got Rubble killed, something which are away at Bumblebee to the point he killed Rubble’s killer, Quake, and nearly did the same to Barricade who provided info to Quake. In the end, Bee vows to not disgrace Rubble’s memory by letting his death change him.
Next is Termagax, mentor to Megatron. If I had to choose worst mentor ever, it would be her. She taught Megatron about never owing everything to the past, but always striving forward for those in the future. This led to Megatron becoming a miner and gladiator, determined to do his part for Cybertron’s Age of Expansion. Nothing wrong here really besides Termagax only focusing on the positives of that age. But as we see, Termagax liked to take risks like with the Constructicons and the Enigma of Combination. Termagax also doesn’t like debating with others, leading her to quit politics only 30 kilocycles before the story. She failed to notice how Megatron desired glory and power for himself and how he used her political party to force Cybertron to return to the Age of Expansion until it was too late. Megatron clearly grows to want Termagax to stay out of his way and even shoots what he thinks is her dead when she calls him out. Worst mentor ever. No doubt.
Finally we have Codexa, mentor to Optimus/Orion Pax. She teaches Orion to see Cybertron as a living world and initially wants him to take her place as head archivist. However she recognizes Orion would be better in other services and thus had him check out the Winged Moon and explore the colonies to get a new perspective. She thus shows no regret when Orion returns and wants to be a senator. Codexa had a negative view of the Age of Expansion and even wrote a book about this, likely including Orion to join the Autobot political party. Orion was so close with Codexa that the Mediator program in the Matrix takes her form whenever it communicates with Optimus. They are definitely a close pair. Perhaps even a rival to Wheeljack and Gears.

I don't think it fair to say Starscream "betray" her after she did the same to him.
Because let be real here, after someone tried to steal your body, left you to rot, and commit mass murder then any sort of obligation to stand by them is thrown out the window, parent or no.

Yeah I don't see him as betraying her at all. And even her betrayal is her preying on his love for Cybertron. She hoped he'd offer up his body to her because he loved her and Cybertron. I don't see it as betrayal in a way since she didn't tell him she wouldn't do it. She didn't lead him to believe she was going to do anything else. She made her plans clear. Maybe it still counts as betrayal, but it may be more of a betrayal to Cybertron if anything else.
Poor Starscream is just shit on by everyone. It's ok, I still love him.
I also wonder if it explains why he seems to "soften" up around the female bots and even female humans. He retains the good memories of his mom. I mean that's a stretch since she was only brought up for an issue, but it would make it any interesting theory.

Honestly, this take with Cybertronians being created by Primus then raised by a mentor (who is like a Cybertronian equivalent of parent) is really really amazing. It's like the best of both worlds for those in the camp who believe Cybertronians can have children and the camp who believe Primus forges them immediately with their personality set.
Though, one change I'd say should be made is Optimus Prime's mentor is Alpha Trion. The relationship between Optimus and Alpha Trion is always depicted as a father/son relationship and I think Optimus' father mentor should be Alpha Trion. Otherwise, I believe this concept should become a staple in Transformers lore from now on.

As someone how has had their mother who has left me for dead, and not only that but also stood by the people who were planning on doing it, I can completely understand 100% why starscream did what he did to his mother and why he likely felt nothing.
But to be fair; what Sceam's mom attempted to do to him was without a doubt worse; it's still terrible and I am glad this comic captures that. Through I personally still have a minimal amount of love for my mom, I won't cry if she were to get put out or something for what she put ME through.

The Decepticons didn't start out as bad guys in quite a few continuity, and Megatron had outright heroic beginnings. Like in TFP, IDW, or the aligned continuity Megatron was basicaly a mining slave, and later gladiator who set his life on freeing Cybertron from the rule of the very corrupt elit, and from the caste system.
The promblem was that he was willing to compromise his moral intergrity along the way, and his appetite for revenge and cruelty triumphed over his sense of justice at the end.
I really love that in some continuities Megatron and Orion worked together to change Cybertron for the better, and were basiclly sworn brothers, and I would really like to watch a series about the early days of their revolution.

They inhabitant small body as their bodies are dim, then as their sparks grow brighter and more powerful they grow bigger bodies that their brighter sparks can power.

@spicysalad3013 cybertronians do have illnesses and medical conditions so it'd be perfectly normal to add such doctors into the lore.
The only thing that makes it difficult writing wise is how would a transformer grow?
Their biology changes wildly between continuities, some have Cna(DNA), or are little different to any other machine.
Transformers Energon showed that autobots could regrow limbs by bathing in Energon. Therefore Energon can be transformed into soild metal, like it's the stable version of the high energy matter. What if the Cybertronian builds up a internal supply of this energy and when their Spark grows powerful enough their body fabricates the upgrades using the internal Energon surplus. Their T cogs shifting their physical form much like in the Transformers One movie. But it's across many stages, not all at once and they have the ability to transform since their birth. The upgrade would be celebrated like a birthday/coming of age, puberty?
This gives the T cog more importance other than just transforming. Being an important organ for their physical growth.
      *************
I've always thought that Energon could be forged into metal. It would be why Primus, originally just a massive Spark of life energy formed a Metal body due to his Energon able to change into that material. It would explain how transformers heal with Energon directly. How there's no metal or material shortage on cybertron with it's only resource being Energon from the core.
If their metal is a stable form of Energon, then would flowing energy back into this low energy matter reinforce the material? Would that explain why some Transformers are so strong, especially larger ones with brighter sparks that aren't scratched by weapons that destroy others despite their metal being similar, it's the lifeforce flowing through the flesh giving it more strength?
If the metal is a form of Energon than it would make sense why their Sparks could graft onto the bodies and feel the metal enough to feel pain. The Spark/Energon(Blood)/Metal flesh are all connected.
Internal Energon could flow from it's container, through the channels (blood vessels), to a damaged area and flow through the metal flesh to regrow scratched areas and heal over leaking (bleeding) spots. Missing arms would need to be replaced. This healing (fabrication) could explain how how could go indefinitely without maintenance like a machine instead of like the lifeforms they are.

This healing (fabrication) could explain how how could go indefinitely without maintenance like a machine instead of like the lifeforms they are.
the Spark/lifeforce giving strength to metal flesh would also explain why combiners are so strong due to them pooling their lifeforces together.
Why else would devastator be so strong when it's the same 6 transformers as one. Wouldn't they be just as vulnerable to weapons unless it's them adding their Sparks and lifeforces together to strengthen the whole, becoming more than the sum of their parts.

I agree with you there, and I think there is a reason why Starscream abandoned his mother. However, it could be possible that Cyrcak had never had someone to look after his son, Starscream, when she did travel all over Cybertron for science and knowledge. And my second theory is why Starscream chooses to abandon Cyrack in her fate. Is that she is very selfish and never considers her son's well-being and never tries to reach out to him as a spark; I don't know much about the biology of the transformers, but I do know you should at least try to be there for Starscream when he needed her most. Since Cyrack never tries to take Starscream's offer to help her to get a new body. But instead wants Starscream to leave him to her fate, and if Cyrack has actually taken his son's body and left him to that creature, then she probably would kill him in that form without hesitation. So I think Starscream does care for his mother. Still, his mother uses his body as a vessel to commit several genocides toward organics and other Cybertronains who don't think into her vision of what Cybertron should be. I also read that comic online on my iPhone, and it is a great series to read, but I haven't read the issues yet. What is the page number issue where Optimus and Megatron have mothers on which number issue? Also, have you ever heard of a fan-made Transformers Prime sequel Transformers Prime: Galvatron's Revenge, and a new transformers series called Transformers: EarthSpark?
Anyway, this is an excellent story about Starscream's mother and the origin of his character, so please keep up the fantastic job you're doing "til all are one!"

I don't think its a "Love of Cybertron".
It's Her who's narrating. She, loves Cybertron.
What we're seeing is her impressing her idea of him onto him, which may have been a behavior she did often. Its a situation that Starscream faced with Megatron earlier in the same comic. Everyone is impressing their idea of him onto him, without talking to him.
( It should be noted that its clear she's fairly consistent about abandoning him. Placing reasonings and behaviors onto him is abandoning him for an idea of him. )
And Starscream doesn't want a genocide--if there's anything that we know that's consistent about all Starscreams across all incarnations, its that He wants to Rule. Can't rule dead people. Megatron wants Destruction, not Starscream.
It lines up with Starscream's dramatics. He's dramatic not because he's basically a robot theatre kid--but because that gets undivided attention. Might even fuel into why he wants to rule so badly: if he rules, everyone has to pay attention to him. Nobody can leave him without his say so. And he doesn't have to be hurt anymore if he has all the power.
His mother trusts that he will do what she says no matter the extremes, as its simply implied without saying so that he used to in the past (For good or ill). He wouldn't visit her body, because why the hell would he make that trek for someone who didn't bother to trek back for him?
She's assuming he leaves her in her state because he's obsessed with Cybertron--when the simple truth is, is that she ditched him once again, would've absolutely left him to a terrible fate (which is an extreme variant of what she did the first time when she left--imagine ma going for milk and came back to start the zombie apocalypse... with you first), and he wanted the result to be Cruelly Karmic. "Oh so you love Cybertron and want to be apart of it? Well, who am I to rob you of that."
Does it stop an evil? Well, yes. Is it torturous? Absolutely.
Is it understandable as to why? You bet your aft it is. Why spend energy on someone who, in your attempt to help, tried to drag you under? Best to walk away and leave them behind. There's nothing one can really do, they had a chance to leave circumstance and they chose not to accept help or improve-- and if you attempt to do more it might just result in a worse fate for yourself.
When you've already built yourself to be the villain ("I must be the bad son, that's the only reason nobody stuck around"), justify yourself as the problem ("Why else would mother just... leave?"), walking away from a situation you cannot face or fix without damage, might as well be a "successful scheme that destroyed my enemy".
... Its almost an abuse survivor story.

"I have no mouth and I must starscream" is a reference to "I have no mouth and I must scream" and the state Starscream's mother was in is very similar to one of the main characters at the end.

This kind of reminds me of the scene in the book White Fang when White Fang reunited with his mother after a long period of time

I'd say it's a Halloween story, so take it with a grain of salt because the writers had to come up with something both punny and spooky. Though to take it more seriously, it doesn't seem like he leaves her out of malice of cruelty. The idea of getting her a new body went out the window when he realized she was a crazed lunatic. (After all, she could have been coy she could have gotten a new body, then did a genocide. But, she had a mania for genocide now.) He also didn't have it in him to kill his mom. So, he can't put her in a body to join the planet otherwise she'd go on a rampage and he can't bring himself to permanently delete her soul. The best compromise he can do, for his mother who wanted to rejoin the planet, is to let her be eternally connected to the planet as one of Cyberton's myths. So it's more of finding a compromise between a bad and worse situation.

starscream is a proud bot, in a world of look-a-like (all of the seekers looks similar from a distance, even discounting all of the clones). he may be predictable but he hates when it is pointed out to him. that's what made him turn against his mother, the gall to tell him what he cares about
he wants to eventually be on top, unburdened by the supposition of others, and sometime in the future, his time will come, surelly. but for now, hard work and scheming is the plan.
and also, he went trought the same procedure that made her spark immortal...

I find this "mentor" thing quite surprising as i haven't kept up with IDW but don't know how to feel about it
    What's your opinion on it

I think it would make sense for them to have mentors to help them adapt the the relevant state of Cybertron. Though I think their occupation may have an influence on how involved their mentor may be overtime if they're not just simply trained in an academy for particular careers.
Though if they can have millions of years of wars and resentment and mention family. They could have a variety of relationships development and foundations.

It is kind of strange, tbh not what I had expected, almost surprising too. as I had believed at least they kind of figure things out on all on their own child but it seems to be that this mentor concept isn't exactly like a human parent relationship, so I am glad they are not babying Cybertronians around like a parent would to a child.

Given how often brotherhood is spoken about, and how older transformers seem to guide the more childish ones about I think It makes sense enough to have been practiced at some point on the planet. Though some bots should have up bringing without mentors as well I think

Mentors are a rather unique alternative IDW have presented as opposed to every bot just being left to figure themselves out. It's integration is also sensible, of course there'd be a huge celebration for newly formed bots to meet their new mentors. Kinda wished Alpha Trion was OP's mentor like he is in most continuities but his mom is still a pretty wholesome addition.
