I would really like to see how well this phone works with a GCam port installed and properly tuned. I'm only using a Redmi Note 10 Pro and that thing went from mediocre at best with the stock camera app to extremely good very fast with GCam 8.4 on it. Even that stupid macro lens on the back is great now. With this thing only getting a DxO Mark score of 141 i get the impression that the camera software is far from being optimized for the phone since that camera array is one of the best you can get.
You are most likely correct. The thing with Xiaomi is that they do not let other apps access all the camera libraries, which leads to certain quality concerns - like the lack of good video stabilization with Gcam
With these new flagship phones gcam does very little to the overall picture quality. In fact it can actually degrade the overall quality depending on the xml used. You will get the most consistent experience staying using the stock camera app when using these new flagship phones.

It has to do with security issues and I checked my phone on the Xiaomi site and checked the sn number.it's a genuine phone but the Global Rom is not the official Global Rom direct from the Xiaomi Global site. Now , that means most suppliers like Ali Express, and most of the Chinese spin offs and resellers who are Chinese on Amazon and Ebay where you can buy the Global version don't use the Global version as supplied by Xiaomi , they in fact use the Chinese Rom and Flash over it ,so Google Wallet picks this up as a modified version with security issues, so it won't work. That being said I also noted that owners who have the "Official" version have the same problem
It works if you get the Global version. Flashing a ROM requires unlocking the bootloader, which is a security issue. If you want to make it work - flash the Xiaomi.EU ROM.

I love photography but carrying a heavy bag full of lenses and gear while traveling (as a partially disabled) is so exhausting. My nag weighs about 10 KG including a laptop for editing. I am on a galaxy s22. I would considere updating if it where a foldable without a crease. The camera improvements are already nice but still dont make me want to updadte. The better chip doesnt change anything no app seems to use it other than the camera.

I had the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and I lived the phone but I wasn't that stoked on Android so I went back to iOS. Gotta admit, this phone is tempting! I can only get the China version where I live though because it's not sold in my country. Is the China version OK?
Why does it have 2 telephoto lenses? One has 3.2x and one has 5x optical zoom. I mean, you can just use the 5x zoom lens to do a 3.2x zoom, right? Could someone enlighten me of what I could be missing from this?
Physically it's not possible to do 3.2x from a 5x, but the opposite is possible if you are ok with a bit of crop. Reminding you that these are prime lenses. It means there is no zoom. You jump from 12mm, 23mm, 75mm and 120mm. Everything between is digital/crop. The worst image quality will be just under each number. So 22mm area will look bad, 74mm area will look bad, and 119mm area will look bad. Once you cross 23, 75 and 120 , it will switch lenses and the quality will be great again.

Sounds like you hate a lot of people out there. And hate is never a good partner in life. I can help with some of these though: 2. First global version of the software. It is visible in the video 3. It is disclosed by the manufacturer, values are almost always close to the reality. 4. Battery drain tests are inaccurate as they involve different aspects of the usage. This is why I shared a 30-day summary from BatteryGuru with real life values. 5. This is also shown in the BatteryGuru output 6. It is rather useless - but I am happy to share samples - feel free to send me an email next week and I will send some photos. Still - thanks for the comment. Thank you for sharing i really want the phone i wanted the 12 ultra but it was not for sale in my country. But now there is this one i really like all the camera options. I hoped the front camera is good enough i do model work and make art and fashion make up content so i searsch for a very good camera as well. Thanks a lot for describing the scenarios you plan to use this phone in. Could be that it might need some extra stabilization. But first you may try with the phone only and see how it feels. Image stabilization on these devices is quite good already.
The hardware and especially the camera specs are without a doubt impressing. Though the variable aperture needs some nuance as it has only two aperture modes. What I'm interested in is the operating system. I hear and read disturbing, let me say terrifying, stories about Chinese crapware, non-removable apps and even ads popping up from the OS. Is it really that bad? Maybe I'm spoiled with iOS and Pixel Android, but I couldn't live with that.

My concern is the lack of 25frame video. China have always usedPAL over NTSC so it makes no sense to me. It always bothers me on my 12s Ultra. And their LOG video option would be great but they have never told us what the algorithm is or released a LUT. So it's useless.

The Mi 13 Pro in Malaysia is at almost 1000usd, this would be somewhere between 1200-1300usd. For that price, it would be more logical to get a midrange phone + mirrorless camera.

Video overheating is also gone with apple rivaling video, sure it's probably not the best camera phone but it's leagues above the 11ultra
It is a new SoC so it is normal to have a boost with the performance. Don't forget that mi 11 Ultra is 2 years old and has had a number of software improvements.
I really want this phone. But i wish it had a stylus. Samsung has a stylus and it is so great. But Xiaomi does not. I hope next year they make a stylus for it. I know it is very unlikely, but Xiaomi is just a way better phone than Samsung. Crazy good camera and strong everything. They will not make a stylus built inside it like Samsung, but make an external stylus like Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra had. I can live with that. I have this phone and the operating system stopped working with my ultra camera. And I can't send it back because it has a battery in it so puralator, FedEx and DHL won't let me. So I'm out 1400 bucks. I wouldn't recommend this phone although it was decent when working it's garbage to me now

Unlike advertisements, reviews are meant to be more objective. Part of knowing how good or bad a device is, would be to know how it ranks with its competitors. It would be similar when reviewing CPUs, RAM, bikes, TVs, pretty much everything.
I already sold 13 ultra. I own s23 ultra but after some playing with both definitely i choose s23 ultra. I dont like camera of xiaomi .zooming blurry. Picture i prefer on s23 ultra. Battery draining faster.
Mi 13 ultra is for photographers who knows how to make use of wide aperture and when to use narrow aperture. S23 ultra is for any phone user cause you don't need to bother anything else to shoot photo.
Not worth the money imo. Xiaomi 13 pro at €1000 is a much better deal over all. And it actually looks better. I'm writing this on Mi 11 Ultra, my first Chinese phone ever which admittedly, is phenomenal and still working great, but I'm either going back to Samsung after it releases the S24 Ultra, or I feel really tempted by the Pixel 8 pro. At any rate, my experience with the Mi 11 Ultra has been nothing but fantastic and just in general I think their entire 2021. Mi 11 series was the best one ever, also delivering the best bang for the buck at the time. Even the regular Mi 11 was unbelievable. I had bought that one as well for my wife and even tho the official price in Europe was €800, I got it at a discount for only €650. Mi 10 series was great too, especially the Ultra, but Mi 11 was their breakthrough. Ever since then, their prices have gone up way too much given what they offer compared to the competition. For example: I can get the S23 Ultra right now, with the same specs, slightly better cameras, bigger display, the S pen and 4 years of guaranteed major OS updates...for 100 euro less.
Unless it is Xiaomi itself who has confirmed the price of the global version of this Mi 13 Ultra, I highly doubt that it costs €1300, ie the same price as the 13 Pro internationally.

Alas, this can be avoided by activating the display of hidden (experimental) settings and deactivating the item responsible for improvements in portrait mode. It refers to the processing of faces. I know, in version 4.3 of the camera, it was possible to activate a display by creating a file in the folder Camera, but since version 4.5, the developers have removed this possibility. Now you can only install a modified camera with initially activated display options. (Root (Magisk) is needed)

There are a lot if reasons that could lead to such a problem and most migh not be related to Xiaomi at all... Try a factory reset as a starter. If it doesn't help - check with Xiaomi for support.

Also even if you have unlocked bootloader you can just flash wallet fix modules I did this on my CN Mi 11 Ultra flashed Global ROM 😅

Thank you for sharing i really want the phone i wanted the 12 ultra but it was not for sale in my country. But now there is this one i really like all the camera options. I hoped the front camera is good enough i do model work and make art and fashion make up content so i searsch for a very good camera as well. But for me its all ready a big step up compared from what i borrow from my father. I am exited to learn all the different options what is possible. And yes i admit i am a selfie girl i create artlooks and share it with the world i love close up eye looks so i am curious if that all is possible. I dont game but i tempt to game now because that option is on the phone. I like the photo case do you think its worth it? sadly i cant look and feel it in a shop inna city ore somthing. So i need rely on information from others. I think i will love the phone do because i love photos and videos and want to use it for my empire. Art for exemple. Give a professional feel with many intressting editings in it. Give my contect luxe and quality feel. Love the night mode as well looks like a professional magazine picture if you want to buy a relastate so good looks it. I saw its pretty stabel but i am fyscially disabeld on bed and if i go somewhere with a wish day with the wishambulance my brancard shakes alot because the Netherlands have old stone streets. Beautiful but not practical and painful for me. But do you think i need a extra stibalisation in very shaking situstions? Because i want to make content to show also gorgeous locations here. Well i will gonne learn. Technically i am not the strongest but feel wise i know how to make it work. Thank you for your great content looking out for more

Could be that it might need some extra stabilization. But first you may try with the phone only and see how it feels. Image stabilization on these devices is quite good already.

The hardware and especially the camera specs are without a doubt impressing. Though the variable aperture needs some nuance as it has only two aperture modes. What I'm interested in is the operating system. I hear and read disturbing, let me say terrifying, stories about Chinese crapware, non-removable apps and even ads popping up from the OS. Is it really that bad? Maybe I'm spoiled with iOS and Pixel Android, but I couldn't live with that.
You can remove most unwanted apps using a software called MIUI debloater. And it is rich on functions. But not as sleek as stock Android.
Problem is the various official storeswill not ship outside of their country and they decided some countries like UK won't get it, so we have to import from Malaysia..

I haven't used a Huawei phone in the past few years. I know they have good cameras. Some people seem to question their ethics though.

My concern is the lack of 25frame video. China have always usedPAL over NTSC so it makes no sense to me. It always bothers me on my 12s Ultra. And their LOG video option would be great but they have never told us what the algorithm is or released a LUT. So it's useless.

Yup. Actually - the front cam is good. Just doesn't record 4k, which some people tend to exaggerate.

The Mi 13 Pro in Malaysia is at almost 1000usd, this would be somewhere between 1200-1300usd. For that price, it would be more logical to get a midrange phone + mirrorless camera.

@@ILFforever it's not. Its lower than than the mi11. Dxomark's testing is still pretty efficient and more scientific than a lot of phone testing sites out there.
@@corsinivideos Many reviewers found the 13 ultra is better than the 11 ultra in many aspects. The changes might not be as large as 10->11 but it's much more impressive than the 12. Video overheating is also gone with apple rivaling video, sure it's probably not the best camera phone but it's leagues above the 11ultra
It is a new SoC so it is normal to have a boost with the performance.
Don't forget that mi 11 Ultra is 2 years old and has had a number of software improvements.

Samsung has a stylus and it is so great.

I have this phone and the operating system stopped working with my ultra camera. And I can't send it back because it has a battery in it so puralator, FedEx and DHL won't let me.
So I'm out 1400 bucks. I wouldn't recommend this phone although it was decent when working it's garbage to me now

Unlike advertisements, reviews are meant to be more objective. Part of knowing how good or bad a device is, would be to know how it ranks with its competitors. It would be similar when reviewing CPUs, RAM, bikes, TVs, pretty much everything.
I already sold 13 ultra. I own s23 ultra but after some playing with both definitely i choose s23 ultra. I dont like camera of xiaomi .zooming blurry. Picture i prefer on s23 ultra. Battery draining faster.
chinese quality is not safe - too big camera unitd and not safety software - too expensive. Sony xperia 1 V is more better. Thanks for your video -
Mi 13 ultra is for photographers who knows how to make use of wide aperture and when to use narrow aperture. S23 ultra is for any phone user cause you don't need to bother anything else to shoot photo.

Not worth the money imo. Xiaomi 13 pro at €1000 is a much better deal over all. And it actually looks better.
I'm writing this on Mi 11 Ultra, my first Chinese phone ever which admittedly, is phenomenal and still working great, but I'm either going back to Samsung after it releases the S24 Ultra, or I feel really tempted by the Pixel 8 pro.
At any rate, my experience with the Mi 11 Ultra has been nothing but fantastic and just in general I think their entire 2021. Mi 11 series was the best one ever, also delivering the best bang for the buck at the time. Even the regular Mi 11 was unbelievable. I had bought that one as well for my wife and even tho the official price in Europe was €800, I got it at a discount for only €650.
Mi 10 series was great too, especially the Ultra, but Mi 11 was their breakthrough. Ever since then, their prices have gone up way too much given what they offer compared to the competition. For example: I can get the S23 Ultra right now, with the same specs, slightly better cameras, bigger display, the S pen and 4 years of guaranteed major OS updates...for 100 euro less.
Mi 11 Ultra is iconic! Still use it from time to time.
Unless it is Xiaomi itself who has confirmed the price of the global version of this Mi 13 Ultra, I highly doubt that it costs €1300, ie the same price as the 13 Pro internationally.
There have been a few campaigns in different countries about it. Sadly, I got no official info prior to the launch

Alas, this can be avoided by activating the display of hidden (experimental) settings and deactivating the item responsible for improvements in portrait mode. It refers to the processing of faces.
I know, in version 4.3 of the camera, it was possible to activate a display by creating a file in the folder Camera, but since version 4.5, the developers have removed this possibility. Now you can only install a modified camera with initially activated display options.

One bad experience can’t conclude anything. There’s no phone manufacturer without bad issues
There are a lot if reasons that could lead to such a problem and most migh not be related to Xiaomi at all... Try a factory reset as a starter. If it doesn't help - check with Xiaomi for support.
Never encountered such problems with xiaomi phones for the last 10 years
