Xiaomi 13 Ultra - After The Updates!

- It's been about a month since I got my hands on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. I've taken the phone to a bunch of trips and snapped a ton of photos using that new 1-inch 50-megapixel sensor with a variable aperture, co-engineered with Leica. It's running the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is a performance beast, but the cameras are the big topic of discussion here. The quad 50MP sensors, the 1-inch sensor with variable aperture, and how it produces both photos and videos out of the phone really is a game changer. If you're serious about photography and want to upgrade your phone, this might be a great option for you!

Hello Mark, great review 👌. I am interested in the RAW format of this phone. Is it possible to shoot RAW in full 50 mpix with all lenses or how is it? Thank you.
Fast and detailed, dynamic format. I'm also waiting for the global version. As far as excessive wind noise is concerned, there is a reduction from the camera settings. Open camera --> select video --> settings--> audio settings, you will find your happiness like on my 11U that I own for 3 years, finally I hope.
This really solidified my choice for 13 Ultra!

Great review! Just subbed. Also the one thing that kinda disappoint me is the front video camera. It only locks on 1080p for its flagship level. I wish they put atleast 2k 30-60 fps on it but yeah its sad. But overall its great!
Try disabling the Noise Reduction settings in the camera app, that may solve your mic problem
i have this phone for a week now and i love it so much.
i brand switched from Samsung after i have had multiple issues.
i must say there where a few samsung exclusive things that i miss on the Xiaomi.
but Xiaomi is doing great. especially its specs are nice.

Idk about call recording. Pretty sure that feature is not longer allowed on many phones
Still waiting for global release. Big probability they'll launch it next month but I'm speculating. But if the Mi 11 Ultra global launch is something to think about, it might be just a very handful of units sold worldwide. I just hope that's not the case.
Camera is always better on China rom.
i wish apple brings 1-inch main sensor and a quad camera setup with both 3.2x and 5x optical zoom lenses. I think apple is planning it, they were rumors that apple will launch an ultra model with big main sensor but looks like they have postponed it for the next year release.
Please also give gdrive for all the photo samples for better understanding of quality.

Great vid! I dig this phone so far but my videos seem to have a greyish hue for some reason. When I record it starts normally and then it seems to auto apply a filter or something.... I am not doing anything to the settings, just hitting the shutter button. It's weird..... any thoughts??

Sounds like missing Band 2 is probably not a big issue in the usa? I am kinda hesitant to switch to xiaomi 13 ultra because of it. What surprises me is that even my mi 9 supports more 4G bands than this..

@@HeyMarkL that's pretty dope then because I also like the more dark, moody and artsy look and I always try to replicate that look when I edit the pictures out of my current phone. So if my pictures will already somewhat come out the way I like them edited straight out of the camera, them I'm all in on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra 👌

The hardware and especially the camera specs are without a doubt impressing, though the comparison with a mirrorless is a bit overdone. What I'm interested in is the operating system. I hear and read disturbing, let me say terrifying, stories about Chinese crapware, non-removable apps and even ads popping up from the OS. Is it really that bad? Maybe I'm spoiled with iOS and Pixel Android, but I couldn't live with that.

Yeah. You said it right. Its a camera phone. I do love the shots it gives thanks to the Leica partnership. But the software is a super hard pill to swallow
And i know some people might say that this flagship phone won't be affected by their laziness through software, but Xiaomi 11 just hit by a deadboot issue... So yeah.

Got a Redmi Note 9 Pro and there hasn't been many issues other than bugs. MIUI 14 is more polished and surprisingly have little bugs to note of. I think MIUI is finally ironing out the kinks.
@@joelconolly5574 you can say that because yours is "not affected". And do you think it's "ironing out the Kinks"? Well better research because there's some phones that have been affected by these issues. Poco X3 NFC, X3 Pro, Redmi Note 10 Pro, Xiaomi 10T and 10T Pro all had deadboots because of updating. I don't think they're "ironing out" their software.
@@mrniceone17 my dad still using rdm n10 pro for years no deadboots. I am a phone seller almost 100% of my customers using those phone you mentioned haven't had that issue for years and years
@@mrniceone17 I'm here to back you up by saying my 10T Pro just stopped working one day after updating. Customer service was hopeless, even the global one.
I'm left with an expensive paperweight with pictures from a funeral I might never get back. Just a big F to all the users who've experienced the same.

When the camera isn't being used, the image stabilization parts move freely

I tested this phone briefly, I enjoyed it but didn't feel like I could keep it over my S23U - 2 main reasons which to me are big issues but to lots of people they wouldn't be 😂 1) can't use gestures with nova 2) useless AOD only showing notifications from stock Xiaomi apps. Obviously the AOD wouldn't be an issue on the eventual global version, but xiaomi not letting you use gestures with 3rd party launchers is ridiculous in 2023.
Huh I'm using their Chinese Miui 14 rom and my Aod shows all notifications. Maybe it's a bug?

I GOT MINE FROM CHINA BUT THE LIMITED EDITION VERSION GOT IT IN YELLOW AND THE OTHER COLOURS R ORANGE AND BLUE. PLUS IT ALREADY HAS GOOGLE PLAY STORE AND I'VE SET IT UP WITH NO PROBLEMS AND RUNNING GREAT, SAME SPECKS 16GB RAM AND 512GB ROM PLUS IN CHINA IT EVEN COME IN A 1TB VERSION. LATER ON THIS YEAR THE 14 IS COMING SOON.

Only scored 140 on dxomark which is 1 point lower than even their own 11 ultra, unless Dxomark isnt a reliable phone camera reviewer?
I don't ever trust those kinds of in-house studio benchmarks. Take it out into the real world and shoot REAL photos of people, nature, landscapes/cityscapes and let everyone else judge for themselves. I find this camera system to be VERY good. So good that I solid my full-frame point and shoot.
Not very comprehensive review. In video you can activate noise reduction in the settings and audio quality will be much better. Front facing camera too, main downside of this phone. Still wondering when xiaomi will decide to launch it globally and how much they will ask for it.....

The front camera is still unacceptable. The only reason for me not to buy it. I mean seriously, in this modern world where everyone wants to be a content creator. Front camera should be very competitive

The iPhone front camera is sh*te. Not sure why you buy iPhone. It’s still made in China. People buy this because of Leica lens. Nothing can beat Leica lens

The front camera is the least used feature on a phone tho. Makes sense to spent the least attention to it. If you need a behemoth front camera like no other in the world, get a mi 11 ultra and use the main sensor with the backside display😂

Bottom line..75-80% of people don't have a clue of all camera options and settings and how to use them. We are people..we always want and need the best. I love my Mi 11 Ultra. No comparison between it and the Samsung 22 Ultra. Quality is much better. My Samsung hit the cupboard along time ago. Volume switch quit working right away. Xiaomi camera setting were over the top vs. that Samsung. Will never go back to Samsung. Completely hyped just like the Apple. Go Xiaomi...
13 Ultra is nice but the s23 Ultra is still king. I have both phones, shoot with both and prefer the s23.
I guess I prefer the more moody and street photography artsy looking shots out of the Xiaomi. But hey, to each their own! The S23 Ultra is very much a great all arounder phone.
@Mark Linsangan if you turn off the "scene optimizer" and shoot that way the photos are SOO much better! It really makes this camera unbeatable in versatility. The zoom lenses by my testing really outshine the 13 ultra in every way and that's big for me. I LOVE my zoom shots (kinda my style)

I think mi 11 ultra is the best xiaomi device till now.....xiaomi make jump back and forth in design and features since mi10ultra.......10x zoom then 5x.......rear display...no rear display.....slowmotion fram rate and moer and more.....weard xiaomi strategies
