He is beautiful. I think he might be a Russian Blue. You guys are wonderful pet caretakers. I moved here 2 1/2 years ago and we have had 3 kittens and 2 puppies dumped on our property. We really can’t afford anymore. Our county has an animal shelter, but they don’t do anything.

We have a shock collar for our Rottweiler and trust me. It keeps him under control if he Moses out too far we beep him if he doesn’t listen, then he gets zapped then he comes right back, but he is so trained on it. We only have to beep him
I have a Cuisinart ice cream maker for over 10 years now. I bought the type that also freezes the bowl instead of having to place the bowl into the freezer prior to use. Those machines cost a bit more but are well worth it!
The shock collars are a good training aid to my opinion. I've used it on my headstrong dog and she learned what the vibration means. I only had it on her for like a couple of weeks and now if she acts out and gets her little stubborn streak kicked in gear again, all I have to do is show her the buttons...just the buttons without her even wearing the collar and she settles right down. Love my dog to pieces, but it is important that she listens to me for her own safety with me living on a very busy street. She is my best friend and a very good companion.
Try the gentle leader for Bruce its amazing as soon as you put it it takes time foe them to adjust but it makes them submissive the realize you are in control and no longer be. Safe does harm and keeps them from lunging.

Why don’t you make a bird sanctuary in the middle of the garden, away from the outside edges of the garden, so the cats can’t get to them! The cats paws are small enough to get in the little entry ways to the bird houses. The cats will get the birds at night or early in the mornings!

Put bruce in a cgc program to get the basic training commands. AKC sponsors it and will send you info on the canine good citizen program.
