“This is the day we pay homage to all those who didn’t come home. This is not Veterans Day, it’s not a celebration, it is a day of solemn contemplation over the cost of freedom.”

In Australia, our special day of remembrance for those who fought for our freedom is called ANZAC (Australian & New Zealand Army Corps) Day. This commemorates the first major conflict Australian and New Zealand forces participated in with the landing of troops at Anzac Cove in Gallipoli, Turkey in WW1. We have a Dawn Service in most local towns and suburbs throughout the countries of Australia & NZ. This is because the initial landing at Gallipoli was done under the cover of darkness in the early morning. After the Dawn Services there are also marches of any current defence force members and family of deceased members participating. My son who is in his 22nd year with the Royal Australian Navy marches in the major march in Sydney with his ships crew. This march takes about 3 hours to pass a given point in the city. We are proud of our Anzacs and those who followed them into later conflicts. My husband also served in the Australian Navy for over 20 years. Thank you to all those who serve. Lest we forget. ❤

Thanks for the advice on the yellow stick pads. Makes total sense. There is an organic spray called meme spray that I use because we are bothered by mildew that gets our tomatoes and cucumbers. I start spritzing my veggies and the dirt below before I see a problem. Thanks for your service and the fact about the flag which i did not know. You are correct about Memorial Day observance. That is so true about people not knowing about why Memorial Day is celebrated. Most people associate it with Veteran's Day and get it confused. Likewise, MANY people do not know what a Gold Star Family member is. This is someone who's immediate family member died while serving our country. I am a Gold Star Mother, Spc Matthew W Ward, died active duty serving our country - Operation Iraqi Freedom. Thank you for honoring and remembering ALL service men and women who died.

Memorial Days are always important and people should treat them with the respect that the Fallen deserve.
Here in the UK, we have our Rememberance Day on 11 November and it starts with everyone falling silent at 11am for 2 minutes. Going back to 1918 WW1 ended at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month. On the closest Sunday to 11 November, there is wreath laying at The Cenotaph and a march past of veterans and I have noticed that over the years some regiments have totally disappeared.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning We Will Remember Them.

Schools are not teaching much of any history. When my children were younger and began to ask questions about American and world history that is when I decided to teach history to them at home. I found all kinds of history books, dvd and anything else to help us on this journey. They are 58,53, 50 and 40. They know history and my grandchildren as well, they passed the knowledge on down.

Tell that flag speech to Supreme court justice that publicly disrespected that flag by flying it upside down...I hope vets feel ""EXACTLY"" the same way about that as they did when Kaepernick was taking his knee during anthems because its every last bit as disrespectful if not more simply because i at least understood Kaepernick's stand agree or not and i did not as i felt that was not the platform for it....I dont understand Alito's gig in the least bit every direction i look...I believe the man to be nothing but detrimental to this country and it shows large in everything he does...I 100% agree with what gets said here about the vets protecting it though....Vets will aways have my support no matter what, they earned that and i salute them ....I will spend the day visiting my Korean vet step fathers grave and then going down to WTF (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot) a little local bar and grill run by a family of vets and have a beer or two in his honor (he would like that)....I miss him dearly....To all Vets, Good folks will remember you and the sacrifices made because its not about the BBQ bullshit to them....Have you a great day of remembering and do one thing for me....REMEMBER PROUD !!! and may all stay safe and be well...P.S. speaking of the big green egg, those ceramic BBQ's are the bomb...Excellent products to invest in for sure if serious about your Q's....But if you invest in one, i highly suggest you get a Kamado Joe (Big red egg) instead of the green egg....Much better for the same cost...They come with tiered cooking racks , and a smoker...I also got a rotisserie with mine (extra)...Check em out , would give major braggin rights over Davids green egg LOL....You guys could have some major league cooking wars....I have the medium size one , not the large one and it serves my family of 3 very well along with the rest of my set up i have at that world renowned luxury resort known as Puerto Backyarda...

I am actually a Canadian and I know what your Memorial Day is and I feel honored to respect those that have fallen. Our two countries have fought too many battles together not to respect. My brother-in-law took a big oil tank like an oval one. put wheels under it cut the side out of it sand blasted it inside and out scrubbed the hell out of it put a motor rotisserie shaft through it and could do a decent size pig on it.
God Bless from your Canadian Friend.

When I was in school we were taught about the reasons for Memorial Day and Veterans Day, what they meant. The schools used to teach about the reasons for the holidays.
I also had military people in my family and really supported the military and respected the military and police.
I was born in 1953 and I think things have really gone down here from the 60's when people started saying look out for number 1 and number 1 was not God.
I did see David's video today and it was really sweet. He went to the cemetery where his grandfather was buried and honored his grandfather.

Hi Rox and Ant, I am an Aussie so our version of Memorial Day is our ANZAC day. On that day I remember the sacrifices made for global freedom. I am saddened by the way that our freedoms are taken for granted and undervalued. My father was a medic in Dutch paratroopers in Indonesia during WW2 and I know that he was deeply affected by his experiences but wouldn’t talk about them. I do remember that there were lots of people, military as well as civilians who made the greatest sacrifice for our freedoms and I pray that they rest in Gods loving peace.

You guys keep us in your prayers, I live in Rogers Arkansas and we were hit, I’m going to say a tornado, I’ve not heard anything word yet. Sunday during the night hours we did not have any damage just no power, will probably be without power all week. So far we’re ok. But Rogers is torn up and I think 8 people died. God does answer prayers.🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thank you for your service. I know Memorial Day is for the ones who lost their lives fighting for our freedom and I thank them very much. Thank you for the quote from Ronald Reagan which in my opinion was the only decent President we have had. The garden looks great. You should have a great harvest. Have a Blessed day.

14:25 celebrate their purpose in life. My dad used to say that would grandpa would love the fact that he is celebrated for what he did for his country, it helps build patriotism.

    I agree with you Anthony.
I like spending the day thinking of those who have dedicated their lives for the freedom we enjoy.
This is also one of the days I visit my parents grave.
I used to think it was a day to eat and have fun. Im not knocking that. But as I have gotten older I have become more sober minded and slower paced. I now notice more of what's happening instead of be clueless as some you had mentioned .
"Thank you for your service" needs to be more from the heart instead of mere words.

So happy you're garden is doing so good.
Anxious to see the greenhouse finished .
Did you hear what the bug said to the sticky paper.
    " I'm stuck on you" 😊
