I can’t believe how many figures they’ve put out. My first Mafex was Rey from The Force Awakens. That was No. 036, so I got on board fairly early. That’s also when the quality of figures began to improve significantly. Some may not remember this, but for the first few years, Mafex had a horrible reputation for QC. Also, the head sculpts and paint apps were notorious for falling far short of the prototypes. They did a great job of turning things around and rebuilding their reputation. I primarily collect the Marvel comic accurate figures and the Batman Hush line. Huntress was my dream figure. I still can’t believe they actually made her. I have a few MCU and DCU figures, but I’m finding that no matter how well done they are, the movie figures don’t hold my interest over the long run the way the comics figures do. I do have all four of the Wonder Woman movie figures though. I can’t imagine ever losing interest in Gal Gadot. 😂
My number 1 tip, and the most important, buy your Mafex from a retailer that makes exchanges and returns easy. As much I love Mafex, I've had wayyyyyy too many QC issues, with two figures falling apart in my hand as I pulled them out of the packaging.
Ebay will always take ur side if you buy from ebayer and it has a qc issue. I recently got a sh figuarts which had a faulty ankle joint. They made the seller refund me. No questions. Ur even more protected if im honest at ebay take buyer rights so seriously now due to people scamming etc
@joelh90 Good to know! I get my stuff from Amazon. I've read others ordering from online toy retailers, and pretty much getting screwed over with fees or flat out refusal to exchange the defective figure.
@@pest174 trust me iv completely shut down sellers before. Ebay will never not take ur side. Even if ir says no refunds that doesnt even count for anything anymore i promise. Iv done it twice once before the seller said it was new and it wasnt and again cause of the ankle. It was easy as. Dont worry about buying of their they have ur back. Also if you want double protection pay with paypal then your insured on the purchase twice.
If they show a t1000, I’ll have to get the t-800 😢. It’s a good time to get into hush, since they reissued the black Batman and there are Superman in stock.
I think the john wick chapter 4 figure will be my first mafex (whenever he eventually comes out). and if I can find another of donnie yen's star wars black series figure for really cheap, I was thinking about doing a caine custom.

Mafex is really great my problems is the price well they come with many accessories i owned 1 and uts hard to keep track of all the accessories so i think I must prefered shf but this vid is rrally helpful
The pricing isn't so bad. It's the secondary market, including retailers. I know it's not practical, but if you buy the figures in Japan, it is reasonably priced. I got Scarlet Spider and Venom for about $50 during my last trip in Japan.

I can’t really judge for overall because it differ from character to character or even it’s the same character, some collectors do get defective ones while others don’t. General rule of thumb is try to get the newer releases as they do improve over time from what I have noticed. As for Akihabara, I will definitely recommend Amiami shop. Tons of Mafex there. For SHF, you should go to the official Tamashii Nations store which is nearby too.

The Mafex figures I own are great. The only downside is that they take forever to be released, and often times get delayed multiple times.

SHF also do comes with many accessories for some characters but yeah generally Mafex is a little more generous than shf
