Object Lesson on Jesus Power / Jesus Can Do the Impossible

Super simple object lesson that still makes a big impact with kids.

Sample Script:
Today we are going to talk about Jesus doing something...that seemed (even to His disciples) like the impossible.
So let’s have a little fun of our own first with something seems (at least at first) like it is impossible.
What if I told you that I can walk through this piece of paper? (hold up a solid piece of paper)
Would any of you like to try first? (let one or two volunteers attempt to create a hole they can step through. They will either fail or have such a hard time doing it, that your audience will assume their is probably an easier way.
Well, let me show you how it really is possible to step completely through this ordinary piece of paper.
(cut the paper per the directions / diagram below, and then easily step through it)
What seemed impossible to us, is now pretty simple, right?
Jesus’ power is a lot greater than a simple trick like this. Jesus can literally do anything He wants...including feeding people lunch without ever having to go to McDonald’s for chicken nuggets!

Thank you for sharing! I'm taking this lesson first today, to tell the kids that God is a creative God and can do impossible things. I'll pair it with a science experiment I saw to put vegetable oil in a big glass jar and submerging a smaller glass jar inside. The refraction of light makes the smaller glass invisible once its inside the oil in the big glass. With this I'll tell the kids that God is invisible to us, but He poured Himself into human form so that we can see who He is through Jesus. When we give our lives to Jesus, He welcomes us into His presence and we receive His protection and love. I'll also show them that water and oil don't mix, that's why God is pure and holy and that He washes us clean from all of our sin. Doing the impossible! Full circle.
