I'm eyeing a Mac because, let's be real, my life's mission is to ascend to Dota godhood. And what's better than pairing divine gaming skills with a laptop that's as light as my in-game footsteps? Travel? Easy. Just toss it in my bag, and I'm ready to jet off, HDMI cable in hand, because nothing screams 'pro gamer vibes' like hooking up to a 144 Hz monitor. It's like the Mac and I share a secret handshake - it knows I'm all about that high-refresh-rate life. Plus, let's not forget the swag factor. Flaunting a Mac is like wearing a designer label in the tech world. It's not just a laptop; it's a statement. It screams, 'Yes, I game like a pro, edit videos like Spielberg on a caffeine rush, and still manage to look effortlessly cool.' But here's the deal - it's like owning a sports car that's perfect for the city but wouldn't survive a rally race. If Dota is your one true love, we're golden. This Mac's got enough juice to keep those frames smooth and gameplay tighter than my jeans after Thanksgiving. But if you're looking to hop into every game under the sun... maybe keep looking. Because let's face it, not all games are as forgiving as Dota when it comes to system requirements. So, in the grand gaming lexicon, it's a match made in heaven for the Dota devotees. For the rest? It might just be a 'swipe left' situation." And there you have it, a humorous take on why a Mac might just be the Holy Grail for a Dota enthusiast, but a potential heartbreak for a gaming polygamist.
No, but for its price, should you decide to casually play games, the m3 should meet its pricepoint expectations. I have a macbook pro purposed for coding and work. Sometimes i want to game, and I shouldnt need to buy another gaming laptop do so, especially considering what I shelled out
How is heating and the fans on this? I see you are playing on the 14" M3 Max. Have you tried 16" MBP? Reason I bring this up is I have the 14" M1 Pro and my friend has 16 M1 Pro. You can barely hear the fans on the 16 + 16 doesn't heat up as much. I feel the 14" is essentially for the travel weight because it definitely feels different 14" vs 16". That 16" is definitely a big chungus chonker lol. Are you also planning on doing M3 Air Dota 2 review? That would be awesome if so! I feel like the M3 air would be very idealistic for dota 2. I don't think it would heat up that crazy compared to the M2 air.
I wasn't planning to get the M3 Macbook Air - but I am on the fence of what device to keep (or buy if I return the M3 Max) My options: - $699 for M1 MBA - could be viable - 1099 for M1 Pro - has SD card slot and faster refresh - 1899 - 16 inch M1 Max - heaviest -2899 M3 Max -- Keep or return - benefit on Apple payment plan
Imagine blitzing through 15 Dota games on a Mac, with settings cranked to medium for that sweet 144 Hz action. Will it keep the FPS dream alive without turning into a tiny volcano? And how many hours can this stylish beast handle before waving the white flag? Gamers want to know if this Mac is a triple threat: gaming powerhouse, editing wizard, and travel-friendly showpiece. Let's find out if it's really up to the challenge or just all show and no go.
I mean zephyr is g15 - the 2024 model is what you describing or other 14 inch laptops. Heck even the meteor lake 13 inch laptops that weigh 2 pounds can be it. The macOS operating system isn’t made to handle games and video game developers aren’t bought in to develop their games for this system
Your channel randomly popped in my recommendations! And guess what? I have the same laptops as you do. Legion with 4080 and m3max 14" lol. And my reason to get Mac was pretty much same as yours. To focus more away from gaming (but I am trying into the developer world). Any ways , glad you showcased this, I am not installing data on Mac for now xD It looks terrible compared to what we can do on legion pro. Thank you. And all the best for your UA-cam channel.
niceeee - i ended up returning the m3 max and have a M1 max 14 inch I got from microcenter for $1999 -- so i lose speed/gpu but it has 2TB SSD and 64 GB RAM -- so a good tradeoff
somehow my 14" m3 max lags worse than your vid and I failed to get it running smoothly as this one (with very little moments when lags happen). To me it's completely trash even when watching live it lags :( did you do any specific steam launch settings? I did -prewarm + disable system gps in wireless hopefully it helps but nah
There was an r/dota2 post that said that new steam accounts somehow perform better than old ones - could be cosmetics - could be friend list. Try making new steam account and see whathappens? It has yet to be proven why new steam accounts run better but you could try that
Currently I'm playing in M1 and when I speak with push to button and after I stopped speaking, I don't hear the sound of others and game for some seconds. Do you know the solution ?.
@@BlendlogicTech it's the bluetooth audio driver which works in two modes basically. First is when you don't use mic (sound output is much better and wider range). Second is when mic is in use (sound is more shallow, etc). The problem with mute is that when you press hotkey for mic it changes driver mode therefore a delay. The best solution for this is to force mic input to Macbook Microphone as default (option + click on sound icon in the menu bar).
@@BlendlogicTech I think you should play at 60 FPS, no need to 120 fps actually. but you have to decrase refresh rate of your display to 60hz to get smooth 60 fps with vsync (no frame limit, max fps limit should be 240 always) if possible. You may also disable high quality water. They have to implement shader precaching asap, we re experiencing long shader processing stutters every os update or big game updates.
Would you buy an M3 Max just for gaming dota 2?

yeah
Nice one. I found running exclusive full screen makes the game run smoother.
I'll try that out - still trying to play less games. I played on my desktop - and my heart rate went up to 140!!!
Actually me is that guy who willing to buy m3 max for Dota 2 in my travels 😂, alongside with my business documents work and browsing/ streaming
It’s a great device but tradeoffs. The 2024 g14 tries to compete now and isn’t that bad

Well just want a experiment from your side as I play only dota 2. Mac does that but wanted to know for how long we can play it in mac

What is the average temperature during the game?
fans didn’t kick on so better than getting super hot?
How is mac for turbo players?.M3 pro with 18,gb512gb.
I think as a former dota player - I like the experience better on Windows - its capable on mac but better on Windows for the $$$

Press the button again? You mean the SIRI Button? F5? - It usually lowers volume so you can speak to SIRI
It’s the AirPods which change default mic input.
@@valdisplaudis so if he has airpod pro - he pushes his voice comms button but it has convesrsation awareness so it mutes his sound?? Possible

60hz or 144 hz bro ?
240HZ - my legion pro 7i has that refresh rate :P
That stutter prevents me from playing… i hate it.
Windows is the way for gaming I think … for dota at least
