I am from New Brunswick, Canada. My sister’s trip last week to Bangor, Maine included a stop at Talbots. As I meandered through the store I heard your voice in my ear. 😂 I love fabric and clothes and your style ideas suit me perfectly. I am 72 and it just never gets old for me. When I look my best I feel good. When a younger woman comments on my outfit, I know I “hit the mark”. I am not trying to impress anyone other than myself!

I love all of the outfits in this video. I live in Georgia and find that it’s more difficult to look put together during our very hot summers! I would love it if you did a blog or a video about casual summer dresses.
I like that description “everyday outfit.” The term casual where I live sadly means yoga pants, some shapeless tee, and flip flops. Won’t do it, nope nope nope! 😜

Amen to that sentiment! I'm 70 years old, but being stylish has always been important to me -- and I turned my 33 year old daughter on to Kay and Dressed for My Day! She loves it, of course, as do I!
You gave me some great ideas for keeping it styled around the house! A favor--please do-a feature on some cool, SUMMER WEIGHT third layer pieces. I usually feel the need for that completer piece, but in the summer it is more difficult to pull off comfortably.

I was raised and still live in Southern Florida. So I’ve always lived in shorts and still do. And I’m 62.😊
Hi Kay, I too wear tank tops with a button up linen or cotton shirt. However, a cute style hack I like is to partially button the top shirt and tie it at the waist. This creates more interest in my opinion, defines your waist, and also looks better. The long droopy shirt looks a bit frumpy to me. The keys is to gently roll up the shirt in the back and then tie the two ends of the shirt at your waist. Make a nice neat knot with the two ends the same length-sometimes I have to try this a time or two to get it just right. To me, this looks more intentional and just more stylish.
I love the "at home" look. Most of my days are spent at home and very casual. Since retiring I have struggled with what to wear but slowly I think I am getting there. Thanks for this video and please do more like this.

Some of us do have more of a clothing budget but are definitely understanding of those who don't. I understand these are clothes from your closet. You spend your money on what you luv. I lead a college library and things definitely get more casual in a few weeks when the students and faculty leave campus, but my meeting schedule can actually be a little heavier than usual as we tackle the stuff we had to put on the back burner during the school year. That said, i still want to make sure I'm put together enough to handle any surprise VIPs while still basically embracing the laid-back summer vibe. Some great ideas here that I may work into my rotation!
I found it hard to adjust my style since I retired from work. Your outfit choices and laid back delivery is just what I need to help me do casual with style.
You have such a common sense approach to dressing. Also, your choices of clothes are dignified, color appropriate etc. thank you for your work. My budget is usually Talbots, jjill, target, Nordstrom and . A blouse for $250 wouldn’t be in my budget.

My favourite outfits are the 3 last ones :) I often dress like this and never get tired of them! The first one is a lovely outfit to play or run with little children, or take care of our home :)
The only reservations I have (maybe because I'm from France?) are the white pants where the pockets show through the material because it makes them look cheap or low quality (even if it's summer and hot, I always try to find white pants that have the same color density); and secondly, I am surprised that Liberty has fabric which does not have the same pattern on the inside, as this generally is a sign of lower quality and cheaper clothes, only that they are not cheap at all. But I love Liberty style florals, they've always been my favourite florals!! For shirts, dresses, home linen, ever since the 70s, they are timeless and look so refreshing :) The shirt in the video is absolutely gorgeous and looks wonderful on you! If only the inside was the same as the outside...

The one with the blue overshirt-- I wear variations of this look all the time. I have several white T-shirts and tank tops I've thrifted, as well as tanks and short- and long-sleeved striped t-shirts. I have thrifted a Lauren blue linen shirt and a Lauren dark blue chambray shirt! I use white jeans I bought on sale from Walmart, or inexpensive but beautiful Old Navy blue jeans in a variety of washes, lengths and widths. 😊💙🤍

Wow! I knew spring was going to be colder when I move to Ohio from Arizona. But what I didn’t bargain for is how LONG the cold lasts. This has been a big shift for me. But we love it here and I’m adjusting. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I do try to keep sponsored videos to about one or two a month, but sometimes schedules get moved around and they all line up in a row.

A big thank you for this video! These outfit ideas are exactly where I live my life almost every day, which is casual but I still want to look put together. My favorite is the jeans with the liberty blouse! I've always loved liberty prints but somehow had gotten the idea that floral fabric - especially small florals, would make me look matronly and "old lady". You've shown me that's NOT the case! I'm pretty much a jeans and sneakers kind of gal at home, but I do love changing up tops to go with them! I'm especially loving all the lavender!!
Number five is my favorite that is my “uniform” most days. It’s very comfortable and I love the column of color or white with a shirt over. I also appreciate your styling of the wider leg pants and jeans. I was having a hard time embracing them because it took me back to junior high (ha ha) but with your styling ideas I have become very happy with the look. I LOVED these outfits. The jogger outfit (#1) was my favorite. The floral shirt was great on you. And I would definitely wear the linen pants and sweater outfit you put together. That is my style. Super simple. The only styling I do is rolling up sleeves or cuffing my jeans.

Enjoyed this one which echoes my usual day. I don't leave the bedroom without appropriate belt, jewelry, pushed up sleeves or shirt tuck. It's great for around the house, errands or visits with neighbours, BUT, calls for multiple changes as I go out in the garden a couple times a day! Silly me, if only this body would let me get yard work done all at once.

I love graphic tees, but the sleeves are very short on most of the websites. I see lots of women in their 70s and 80s wearing very short sleeves, but my arms would detract from my overall look if I wore them. I'd appreciate if you could find some cute graphic tees with a longer sleeve.

Hi Kaye. Thanks for these style formulas. I think having casual pieces in your wardrobe for everyday wear is so important. Curious how you feel about this: I avoid all white bottoms where I can see the pockets material and flyfront material showing through the pants/skirts. Why don't manufacturers use an ecru or similar color that won't show up as big white patches when you look at yourself in the clothing? These big white patches (on my hips, butt, and in the front pointing toward the crotch) just make me very uncomfortable, and I won't wear anything like this. Wishing for some white fabric that won't show anything through it.
I've been thinking about this too; I recently tried on some very light beige trousers in Marks & Spencer which fitted me and were approximately the right length so normally I'd have got them but I just couldn't cope with seeing the pockets through the material at the front. I wondered if I was being too fussy and was going to ask you. Thanks to Shelly for the opportunity!
I completely agree! White and light-colored pants should have the same color intensity or saturation everywhere. When the pockets and other parts show through the garment, it looks cheap and unflattering. Also there's a good chance that underwear will show through too if they are not the exact color of the skin.

Here in England you can order a postal catalogue which has lots of ideas for casual outfits,not sure however if they post to the USA ?
You had me at "taking care of your grandkids." I wrangle my 2-year-old granddaughter, and the playground is her 3rd favorite place to go, after the library and wildlife center. We get around. I have a few style formulas I wear. I liked your carpenter jeans and blouse, this is so me. I also like my basic jeans and a knit shirt. As soon as summer seys in, I pull out a few dresses and skirts too, as we are outside every day we can be. Thanks for the tips!
Yay, Wednesday. It’s Kay Day. I work from home, and you often keep me company (shhh, don’t tell the boss). My fave was your carpenter jeans and blouse tucked in. And yes I remember the painter’s pants from high school. I loved the way they fit. I am not a fan of blouses open over another top. I do love a lightweight jacket, blazer, cardigan, or collarless topper over tanks, shells, etc. But an open blouse or man’s bulky shirt-nah-just not for me. Maybe it’s the collar…hmm. 🤔 Just nah.
Oh how I wish someone would come up with a UA-cam channel with style recommendations for retired men! The few I have seen for men are for younger men and I know my husband would not be comfortable in most of the styles they show. My husband is usually a very sharp dresser for business functions but I can’t get him away from loose, relaxed jeans that are longer than they should be. I also can’t get him away from wearing stretched out boat shoes that do not give him the support he needs for his feet as we get older. I’d love to see him wear linen blazers for church (after all linen is supposed to be a summer staple in the south!) and light weight chinos (not shorts) for Wednesday night activities at church. If I had some photos to let him see how the overly casual styles actually appear to others, and to show him how he can still be casual AND comfortable and look like a mature man who still has so much to offer, I’m sure he would be on board. He just can’t visualize what the clothes I bring home would look like on a mature man. Believe me, I’m not trying to make him look younger, just current. If you know if such a channel for mature men, please let me know!

Help please! I have narrow feet and find it increasingly difficult to find shoes. I am fine with sneakers since I can adjust the laces, but would love a pair of ballet flats. They must be "cushy" and give great support as my doctor says. Any ideas? Thank you! 🦋
I work and use your clothing tips all the time. When I am home, all I do is garden, paint, stain wood (we are slowly remodeling our entire home) so those are the clothes our neighbors always see. I need help with these type of dirty jobs.

Can you address how to style tops with pants that have elastic waste bands? Is better not to show any of the waistband covered by a shorter top or do some stylish tucks. I like to wear light weight pants with elastic waist bands in the summer (especially on a long road trip). I feel very dated and “lumpy” when tucking tops in elastic waist bands.
I love your clothes but the prices are out of my reach. 😢
Hi, I enjoyed this video but I have a question about something you mentioned. You said you can’t wear flats for very long. I was wondering why that is? I have feet problems and wonder if that means flats are harmful or hurt your feet. What do you wear instead?
My foot condition is metatarsalgia. I have pain in the space between my toes and the front pad of my feet. So my feet actually feel better when my toes are splayed a bit rather than flat and more cramped. So a slight heel feels better for me. But there are so many different feet conditions. I’d definitely consult a foot doctor. Mine was very helpful.
Ahhhh now I know, you say tank top we say vest top, ( I’m English) tank tops here are usually woolly 😂 you have such a good figure, I’m 5’7” and uk size 12 so feel I could get away with these styles
