I skipped on this back in the day as it was a Madonna fans nightmare. Then Courtney Love said in an interview that Madonna was heavily involved in the grunge scene in NYC. Now I love it, this is where she came from!
she is one of the few today`s pop singers who are decent! though i hope she would have stayed in post-punk. Post punk is much cooler than mainstream pop
Mira The First She wanted to be famous that was her biggest goal to get her name out there no matter what it was it was said she hated disco for a period of time but did a disco run because they said it would launch her every time something didnt work she moved to the next thing until pop finally worked
That era of punk recycles a lot of hooks, also you can hear Surf and 50s pop & garage-style influences. A lot of the more derivative and formulaic music became very dated-sounding.

Still amazing.... I LOVE pre-fame Madonna.

Siouxsie is the queen of Post Punk, and along with The Banshees influenced so much else.

Grande MADONNA!
Part of it sounds like “My Sharona” by The Knack where she goes “ayayayay”.
