Vídeo com fotos e imagens de Madonna no período em que fazia parte da banda Emmy. Com a primeira versão de Burning Up, gravada no período de 1980/1981 por eles.
Emmy and The Emmys made regular shows in nightclubs: Cartoon Alley, Underground, Max's Kansas City & US Blues (Long Island). Madonna had brown hair, all spiky, wore crucifixes & accessories. Stephan Bray said Madonna had followers: 5 or 6 girls who followed the band Emmy everywhere.
Raw gem, pre-fame Madonna with her punk/pop/hard rock roots. Steven Bray was her first early talented music collaborator. She would carry on this rebellious, street smart persona/attitude throughout her artistry and advocacy.
After the band Breakfast Club (she played drums & did some vocals), Madonna & Stephen Bray founded the band Emmy and The Emmy's or simply EMMY. Madonna (lead singer), Stephen Bray (drums), Gary Burke (bass), Brian Syms (lead guitar). At this time Madonna had already written about 12 or 14 songs. The songs appeared on bootleg "Emmy & The Emmy's Live: "First Time Out Of Manhattan": Love For Tender, No Time For Love, Ringing Bells, Drowning, Are You Ready For It, Best Girl, Hot House Flower, Simon Say, Nobody's Fool ,Love Express & Drowning studio version. Madonna in a Punk-Rock style.
marc dany I'm not going to say anything but this, your comment is so basic is makes me cringe with embarrassment for you. Don't try too hard you might break something in your brain.
SageMageFox trust me, someone who spends his time watching teenager stuff like game of thrones and foolish videos is embarrassing for me. So don't pretend to come here and judge a living legend who wrote the history of music.
Such a great part of history and artistic influence Madonna will have on the new artists to come. It really doesn't seem that long ago when we were dancing and singing to her music! I love this older material when she first started!
For all you idiots saying not "PUNK", when do you think punk was invented? 1976 and Madonna was playing CBGB, Dancetiria, Max's Kansas City and Roseland by 1979..If anything she took the punk attitude and fused it with pop/dance and help create House Music...
She definitely not house music. Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles, Farley jack master Funk, Jerry Saunders, and Ron Hardy lots of DJs playing Philadelphia soul not madonna in black gay bars in New York City (Paradise Garage) and especially Chicago (the Warehouse and Music box) created House. Madonna is pop music darling and she introduced Vogue to white america but that also came out of black gay bars with House music.
johnathan clark her first album is cited as paving the way for club music from disco to what we know as dance music...not house in particular. I think that’s what he meant.
The picture at 3:28 I remember that came out shortly after she hit the big time. She said a friend wanted to see if they could fry an egg on her stomach. That's what she's doing in that pic!
I would love to see her re form this act and tour with it. Maybe too late now. But she should have done it. It would have been amazing. They could have written some new tunes and even played a punk version of some of her solo hits.
My God she's hot! This is a hard core punk precurser to new wave song. Like a race horse coming out of the gates. She was in it to win it. When she came out with her first album every song was a hit, with the new version of this one on it. The world would never be the same. I was 25 and in my prime. I think that was the first girls gone wild era.
And still different from the demo off it that was part of the cassette she gave to Kaminis that he gave to Rosenblat who gave it to Stein that got her signed. I don't know if this was for Camilla Bourbon or if was self produced
@@fundies2 more than likely both were. Knowing Madonna, I could totally see Patti Smith being an influence. They have similar attitudes. But i do hear the Debbie Harry style in this song.
Fantastico video! Madonna non la conoscevo in questa veste così punk...bellissime immagini e che bei look! E questa versione così ruvida di burning-up....grazie! I didn't know madonna had been so punkish until today....really beautiful images of her very first look...and this so rough version of burning-up... thanks!!
It sounds like it was done on a boombox in the club...bands we were in at the time used to do that - for practice too - the mix isn't too bad actually.
Because it's Raw 🙂 it's like U and your friends sitting and someone grabs a guitar and starts playing😁 I'm not sure if that explanation was Great 😁 But I hope U kinda get what I'm saying Alot of Times it's the Best ones your not trying to impress no one 😏 it's like let's go 😁 ✝️🙏🙋♂️✌
Around this time there were hundreds of new waveish bands hustling in NYC in the music scene that the first wave punk era bands helped to create. Madonna and Cyndi Lauper both came out of that scene. Before the punk/new wave scene emerged the music scene was centered in LA.
I like this version so much more than the original. 1983 was when pop synthesized crap took over including this song. The late 1970s style reminds me of Blonde and Joan an the black hearts.
Oh I love all versions of the song. I love the 85 live version. The 2004 version will always have a special place in my heart. I saw the 2nd night of the tour, I did not know the setlist so I died when Burning UP started. I never thought I would hear that song ever again.
Julien Castle oh the rest o f us thought it was modelled on Annie Lennox when she did the exact same thing.... He’ll even Cher did it in walking in Memphis

I mean... c'mon... Madonna is sooo good! She is born to be a legend! This track is great!
She was good... in the 1980s.... Now she's a caricature of what she was. We all age and she's no exception.

Madonna in a Punk-Rock style.
Heavy Blondie influence. In general, the very early '80s punk/new wave was the BEST! Great time to be young and in NYC...I'll treasure it always....
Love this early version.
what a fucking surprise. what a legend! WHAT A TALENT!
SageMageFox I like that even after 30 years Madonna is kicking asses and makes people jealous
StefanDot
right "jealous", ok if you say so.
SageMageFox Are you speaking about yourself?....

Wow this version of Burning Up is pretty good.
La Madonna Original, fuente del poder de todas las Madonnas del Multiverso!!!! La amo!!! Me encantó!!!❤😻😻😻😻🥰🥰😍♥♥♥

Burning up is such a kick ass song 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow I really like this version!
This version is something special ❤️❤️❤️
So interesting to hear this early version
A Star was born 🎶
This woman have something unique in history

fuck yeah
Gosh, I'd love to live on that era's NYC

Yup and she grew up performing in Paradise Garage and other gay club's.
johnathan clark her first album is cited as paving the way for club music from disco to what we know as dance music...not house in particular. I think that’s what he meant.
I miss Madonna Punk-Rock and New Wave style!
I like this version too!
I always knew this woman had a punk side to her! xD Glad I found this video!
That powerpop guitar sound suits her well!
Madonna nasceu para brilhar. Was born to shine.
The picture at 3:28 I remember that came out shortly after she hit the big time. She said a friend wanted to see if they could fry an egg on her stomach. That's what she's doing in that pic!
There's actually a video of that on UA-cam somewhere...
My favorite version of Burning Up
I would love to see her re form this act and tour with it. Maybe too late now. But she should have done it. It would have been amazing. They could have written some new tunes and even played a punk version of some of her solo hits.
Madonna has been the Muisc Pioner when suddenly she changed the game transforming Punk Performance into Dance Pop music.
I prefer This version!
Me too
I love listening to her early punk rock songs!
IMO the best version
Her journey is so awesome! Good song to play during this heat wave..
omggg i have never heard this demo😩😍pure golddd
GRANDE MADONNA, ME INSPIRAS!!
wow, la caña!
SixtaGesima sixtaaaaaaaa bendiceme 😍😍😍😍

What a great band
so she’s been singing this song for about 37 years
shes been using auto tune or lip synching it the last 25
@@DaveAnchovies she’s never lipsynced this song. autotune has only been mainstream since 1998, invented in 1997
This looks forward to Vogue in a greater degree, with its major /minor conflict, with hindsight. Indeed I echo the comment: "A Star Is Born".
❤️🎶🌟👍
Opino que estas canciones de Madonna, tambien deberian ser muy famosas, eso que son de las primeras y para mi son muy buenas.
Amazing version
Classic
This so different to her first album version
+MsFanmail All the pre-Madonna phase (1977-1981) work songs are.
And still different from the demo off it that was part of the cassette she gave to Kaminis that he gave to Rosenblat who gave it to Stein that got her signed. I don't know if this was for Camilla Bourbon or if was self produced
@@ehuffnsd how do you know? Is that cassette online?
In the evidence of its Brilliance ! FUCKING LEGEND !!!!! M A D O N N A
This is really pretty good… So gritty & Raw 💙👑💙
Really really good!!
Debbie Harry was a big influence to Madonna
Jake Stevens yep
@B M-Y No your wrong. Patti Smith was a Huge influence on her at that time.
@B M-Y Madonna has said that Debbie Harry was a big influence.
@@fundies2 more than likely both were. Knowing Madonna, I could totally see Patti Smith being an influence. They have similar attitudes. But i do hear the Debbie Harry style in this song.
@@sayitlikeitis.6577 Did you ever consider that people can, and typically are influenced by more than one person..wow

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is punk rock - I'd venture to say this is Ska. I can see where Gwen caught some of Madonna's early influence.
Stefani definitely sounds like Madonna in the early albums of "No Doubt.."
This isn't the only ska she did before becoming an icon, and I don't exclude that the next album might contain ska influences, she's a chameleon
Best M era ❤️❤️❤️⬆️⬆️⬆️
Madonna Omg i love her
Love this ❤
This is really interesting, pre-fame Madonna. :-)
MESSAGE TO MADONNA plz plz plz revist these roots for your next incarnation plz plz plz i beg you
@mikicazorla
Have you even listened to all of her music? She has quite a variety.
Waouh c'est une vraie pépite. 😎😎😎
This is awesome!!
Cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!!!! Thanks for sharing!
Can you believe that this terrible quality recording is one of my favourite songs

OMG I didn't know this song was originally from Emmy!
photo at 2:30 - holy lourdes!
Super cute
2:40 i CAN HEAR bLUE MONDAY
True... wow !
B52s too
Nah
I hear a strong influence of early B52s too
A melhor versão de _burnin up_ depois as demo do S.Brey
In the early days she wanted to be Chrissy hynde or Debbie Harry
She definitely has talent. This is pretty rad what 45 yrs later?
long live the queens. respect & swallow, sisters! shalom.
There is already a movie out for madonna of her early years called Inocence lost.
Max Elle yeah and its bullshit not accurate whatsoever.
Its unauthorized whitch means ite fictional
It's just a movie, no hard feelings, have a nice day.
Has a Cars vibe
This is a VERY early demo version of "Burning Up"
There they sound more like Siouxie & The Banshees ))
Courtney Love always bigs up Madonna for being a leader in Punk and Grunge.
2:32 she looks like courtney love
1980!
go go go go
Reminds me of the studio recording scene with Charlie's fiance on Two and a Half Men.
I fucking love the Madonna the early years stuff. BRILLIANT.

"Pop synthesized crap". How sad. You can't appreciate good pop music in the 80s
Where can I find this lp?
I like italy yes
A bandona underground com de garagem
@misterashley Agreed
Je trouve cette première version punk rock meilleure que la version post disco du premier album
Not punk, but influenced by punk. I prefer this version anyway.
Who is playing guitar on this?
and ...... then she became the biggest selling female artist of all time.
Sounds [musicwise] like B-52's abit.
Exactly!
she is so hot and adorable w/ short dark hair.
i love the raw singing. especially the little bit out-of-tuneness.
Same here...I love dark hair on her
I like this better than one from her own album
I hear an influence of B52s too
louise was genial.
Is this before auto tune
The voice is not clear, I prefere the other version
sIMPLY......AWFUL!! ...But still fun to hear...Love this song, and Madonna!
Recorded in a campbell's soup can?
How old is she here?
20
joe calderone??
No lol.
Joe calderone was based on the stereotypical male rockstar prior to the time Madonna made these pics. :)
Julien Castle oh the rest o f us thought it was modelled on Annie Lennox when she did the exact same thing....
He’ll even Cher did it in walking in Memphis
gerry owen Cher was dressed like Elvis
@orzabal1983islove what a LOL
Sounds a lot like the later Stooges version.
