After seeing the video about this incident from a couple weeks back, I gotta hope Brody doesn't take things personally. Obviously not his fault. As the bat-wing mower gear wasn't either, just because he happened to be the unfortunate one using the 20+ year old mower with untold hours on it when it stopped working, or the nearly new $1M dollar machine with defective engine. Don't take it personally Brody! You're obviously a hard worker!
Been there, 1980's soybean harvest Thanksgiving day, MF 860. Oops make that a 760, memory not what it used to be. I was not not running it, but it had a ring failure, fire shot down into the oil sump ignited the fumes and blew the cast aluminum oil pan off. I did get into the repair though: 1) Drag combine to shop, 2) Degrease the engine(Perkins diesel) as much as possible. 3) Pull engine out. 4) Get new sleeve and piston set and install. 5) Put engine back in combine. 6) Head to field and pick up harvesting.

I broke the #1 cyl clean off a vw tdi. Got greedy tuning and hit full boost in 4th. Was going so fast I coasted 2 miles leaving a trial of oil. Sent the alternator with bracket through the radiator. Fixed it for $950. Drove 42,000 miles in the last 2 years with that head and 3/4 piston rings in a diff block. Aftermarket rod just buckled. Right before I said hmm sounds a little strange.
Damn that's a nice Pete!!! Can I come drive truck for you!!! Brody nothing you can do when an engine explodes that is definitely taken care of like you guys take care of your equipment...
I just toured the JD engine factory and was super impressed with the precision they use in building engines. Some metallurgy reason I’m sure. Amazing they can get an engine and have you running so quickly, your dealer must be first class. At least it didn’t burn up like some videos I’ve seen. Dugo was right about older stuff, but that stuff didn’t have to have all the emission junk or the electronics that you use. Maybe they’ll let you use the new S7 class, or maybe an X9.
Thats part of the connecting rod cap in your hand Chet. I've seen alot of engine carnage in my time but I don't recall ever seeing a block split like that.
To drop the head, run a wire from the plus side of the battery to the electric solenoid of the hydraulic stack. You might want to put some boards on the ground under the header so it will clear the throat when they separate. Undo your axle spines and make an A-frame from the rear axle to a tractor bar. You can pull it backwards.
That was a major explosion, thank God it didn’t blow the whole machine up! Just shows buying the best that is checked and checked can still go wrong! This puts the combining behind!
God dang that title isn't clickbait. Wow, I have never seen an engine explode like that. What'd Brodie say, "indescribable BOOM" seems VERY accurate after seeing 15:08.
@@dphillips705 Deere thankfully stopped using Cummins again. Our salesmen try not to sell Cummins powered tractors because just about every machine with more than 3000 hours shits out the injectors which destroys the whole emissions system.

I work out at Kennedy Space Center,,,, the term they use when a rocket blows up is called RAPID UNSCHEDULED DISASSEMBLY.
I like that one. In air compressors we don’t say fire, everything is a thermal event.

As the second mechanic drove away, she let loose.
I broke the #1 cyl clean off a vw tdi. Got greedy tuning and hit full boost in 4th.
Was going so fast I coasted 2 miles leaving a trial of oil.
Sent the alternator with bracket through the radiator.
Fixed it for $950.
Drove 42,000 miles in the last 2 years with that head and
3/4 piston rings in a diff block.
Great video guys. Thank y'all so much. So sorry Brodie
Thats part of the connecting rod cap in your hand Chet. I've seen alot of engine carnage in my time but I don't recall ever seeing a block split like that.
Sorry for your loss guys
I worked for Deere for 15 years and never got to see something like that. That's impressive.
Broady Breaking Bunches of stuff sure keeps the content flowing.
My God I'm sorry guys...Speechless!
YOU NEED TO HAVE A H8GE LARSEN FRMS LOGO ON THAT BIN. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
As long as you aren’t doing it. You can’t even spell their name correctly.
That was a major explosion, thank God it didn’t blow the whole machine up! Just shows buying the best that is checked and checked can still go wrong! This puts the combining behind!
call in for another green one a claas and geringhof are a sweet duo that will you make smile again.
I ❤ Ray.... and epic shots of the equipment in a action. Keep up the great work... best of luck with your harvest.
Ray taking Eric’s spot in front of the camera and acting as Brody’s support crew.
God dang that title isn't clickbait. Wow, I have never seen an engine explode like that. What'd Brodie say, "indescribable BOOM" seems VERY accurate after seeing 15:08.
If there is more of those engines blowing up in a similar way, i hope JD is investigating it and does some work to prevent it from happening again.
I’ve heard of a few this season
Aparentley not I mentioned it to sombody on the instagram post and he says they haven't done anything about it at all
I said they should use a Cummins since they started using Cummins again
@@dphillips705 Deere thankfully stopped using Cummins again. Our salesmen try not to sell Cummins powered tractors because just about every machine with more than 3000 hours shits out the injectors which destroys the whole emissions system.
You actually think Deere really cares?
That's cute
We had a 7720 titan II with maybe 3400 hours, sold it from Canada, went south for corn and its only ever seen soybeans and wheat. He hasn't had issues with it in 6 years. We got a 9600 to replace it and honestly its been a good machine too, but I do miss that 7720 with a 30ft head.
I went from an 8820 to a 9600 can’t say I missed running the 8820 after sitting in the 9600 cab all day. The 8820 was a very reliable machine though.
@@richardlug6139I had an 66/77/8820 the 8820 wasn't as reliable bas the 7720, none of them were as reliable as the New Holland that replaced it
Don't feel bad Brody, nothing you could've done to prevent that
Larson farms uniked songs of the week..
#1 knocken on heavens door

😂 hope shes back in action soon boys! Atleast you run new gear thats relatively covered for most things and have the best support from kibble and other companys!
