Movement based CORE development

  • In my past I never did isolated core training but still had considerably developed and well-rounded abdominals.
This was all thanks to flow movement training and martial arts. It's impossible to perform versatile whole body movements without some level of core tension.
It stabilizes and connects the entire body and works as a myo-fascial bridge that transfers forces between the limbs.
This stability is very dynamic in that it has to constantly adapt to the changing angles and positions of the body. Hence why movement training develops a very complete looking abdominal armor.
Abdominals, obliques and the deep parts of your core are stimulated effectively inside out often without you even noticing it.
Abdominal exercises are useful but if you want to have the ultimate functional core you should incorporate movement training into your repertoire.

All grade schools should teach that. No equipment needed. And most importantly, fun 😊

If you don’t mind my asking, how do you incorporate the animal movements into your training? And which ones did you feel worked your core the most? Thanks for your time and consideration, if you get the chance to read this.

It is great you found YOUR method. Now, to be realistic and honest, perhaps some may also click with this METHOD. Yet, what would be most important, would be the PRINCIPLE behind the method for developing strong and functional abdominal muscles, that could be applied to ALL METHODS, no matter the actual method. But continuing to sell METHODS as Principle, is a recipe for confusion and chaos. From time to time, we need a remainder of PRINCIPLES and not methods only.

ultimately whatever you did worked your abs the only ways abs can work: contraction for Strength, Cardio for Fat burning. You movements did both that's all. Don't shun the basics.

we all evolved, he used what he knew and adapted to what he felt work better for him. It might be a good idea to do crunchs and such to get a "Core base" then stick and progress with animal movement. For myself i just started so take that with a grain of salt ;) keep on moving my guy and gale !

Which movement would you recommend to start with if we are talking about an absolute beginner who is used to sitting most of the day due to a desk job?
I've noticed that my mobility has become really bad, my limbs are quite stiff and even small movements hurt.
I wanna remedy it but most movements are so uncomfortable due to pain, I'm not sure how I can start without being so uncomfortable that I'd just stop again.

@@samkaithwas7779 yes the length of time may be quicker or slower depending on genetics but everyone can. Some people can gain muscles easily and some people take time. Thats why people take steriods because some people find it tougher than others

Genetics play a role in appearance that many body builders complain about. There's different density that may affect you with twitch fibers vs endurance fibers. You have a mix of both. It just means you are naturally advantageous with sprinting vs marathons. The body is adaptive and can change under different stresses.
