´SHAI HULUD´ - Percussion Solo for Sand and Stones

This solo percussion piece was part of my recital in Munich, Germany, in June 2023. "Shai Hulud" is one of a series of compositions that reimagines percussion by using ordinary objects to create a unique soundscape, contrasting with traditional instruments.
The composition is performed on a bass drum or timpani head, with the player manipulating four different materials-salt, sand, small stones, and medium stones-on the drum's surface. The performer also wears bells on their ankles, adding another layer of sound. The movement features irregular, complex rhythms and a variety of polyrhythm.
